The property is quite small and congested. Breakfast options were very limited — for all three days, only two slices of bread and an omelette were provided, with no other choices available. Wi-Fi did not work inside the room and was accessible only outside. No additional facilities were offered.

The Catar Cottages is a beautiful and peaceful place to stay, surrounded by nature and local charm. The room was very clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The highlight was the owner, who went above and beyond to make me feel at home and even took me around the island to capture amazing photos in the best spots. It truly felt like staying with family.

Honestly, there was nothing I didn’t like. Everything was well taken care of and exceeded my expectations.

A comfortable stay

Nice size room, hot water and air conditioning and a lovely garden. A couple of nice places to eat nearby especially the (Be- Side) restaurant.

It would be nice to have an option at breakfast instead of just tea/coffee and scrambled egg on toast. Could include some fruit or fruit juice. And option of toast with butter and jam or pancakes. A little far out from town, you need a motor bike or taxi. It's a 30 minute walk down hill to the harbour which isn't too bad but it's a hot walk back when it's up hill. I would recommend getting a taxi!

Amazing place

Breakfast was great! The owner is super friendly and offered us pick up and drop off everywhere we wanted to go I.e. Crystal Bay and restaurants. He booked our manta ray snorkeling trip, our ferry to the gilli islands, and dropped us off at the harbor!

Clean and spacious place in a great location

Great location, very conveniently place to go and see the sights - great big room, very clean, all looks very new - shower pressure was the best I’ve had in my month long trip! Nyoman is friendly and can help with boat trips and other activities - he recommended a beautiful place to go for sunset! Scooters are available to rent there - possibly in better condition than the ones from the harbour Getting around without a scooter is a challenge on this island Recommend this place!

Beautiful surroundings and friendly hosts

Everything about our stay was great. As we arrived we were warmly welcomed with a coffee. The staff are really lovely! The bungalow was clean, the bed was very comfortable and I really enjoyed the view from our veranda into the beautiful garden.

We had an excellent stay, the room was great and very clean. The host is welcoming and very good advice, he scheduled our return to Bali himself to help us. The location is ideal. 😄

Exceptional

The host, Nyoman is so nice, he helped us book tours at a great price and recommended really great warungs. We were going’s to do scuba initially, but he convinced us to do snorkelling, and we realised that that was the best advice after first round of snorkelling. And breakfast was also really great touch. We didn’t expect it. It was tasty and very well presented.

Perfect place to stay

The property was very clean and the rooms were a good size. The AC worked well and there was good water pressure in the shower. The owner was very friendly and helpful and made us feel at home. He was also able to organise trips for us which was very good

Brilliant stay!

Quaint, tidy and clean. Beautiful garden to wake up to in the morning with a range of fruit. Nyaman, the owner, is the absolute salt of the earth and could not of made our stay any better. He escorted us to a local restaurant where we ate and organised our full itd art for the following day.

Great place to stay!

Great spot, with good WiFi and a great host who is very helpful.

My only constructive criticism would be some type of insect repellent for the rooms. Perhaps I had an odd experience but my bathroom was quite buggy when I arrived. Very manageable though.

cannot recommend this place enough!! the outside area is gorgeous with loads of plants and trees while the inside of the huts are extremely spacious and very clean. very good aircon and comfy bed that is made/changed daily. nice and clean bathroom with a hot shower that has very very good pressure. the host was absolutely amazing and couldn’t do enough for us, he was very helpful and welcoming!! free breakfast, scooter rental and laundry service all available. it is a good location (if you have a scooter) as it is about a 5/10 min drive to the harbour and restaurants.

the shower did run out of hot water after about 5 minutes of showering

The best host in the most beautiful setting!

Arriving at Catar Cottages I was immediately impressed with the lush setting, obviously the work of someone with a passion for gardening. That person is Inyoman, the owner and an absolute legend. He immediately offered me coffee or tea, and made me feel welcomed and appreciated the whole stay... Which I wish could have been longer. His breakfasts are delicious and he is a man of the world, having worked on cruise liners for years. The cabins themselves are new and cozy, kept very clean. Some of my best times.on Penida were sitting outside in the garden in the morning or evening and drinking tea. My last night, lnyoman and I enjoyed a delicious fish curry he made that afternoon from a fish I had caught. It was spectacular. When it was sadly time to go, Inyoman took care of my ferry tickets, got me a better price on my scooter rental and then took me right to the dock. I have never had a better host!

It was a very pleasant stay. We were the only guest at this time there. The room has AC and the water pressure is amazing for Asia. The owner is very friendly and open for any questions. We really enjoyed to stay there. We can highly recommend this place.

Good

Location is great as a starting point to explore the island by scooter or car and it's like 7 min driving to the port area with most of the restaurants and services. The cottages are lovely, surrounded by nature. The guy in charge is very helpful and kind, he picked us up at the port on arrival with scooter and came back again for our luggages, booked for us an amazing snorkeling trip, and he lives there, so he's always available for any need or problem. Scooter and helmets can be rent directly there.

Unfortunately breakfast was scarce, it's possible to have just coffee or tea and eggs (watermelon if available), it's ok but maybe it would be better to specify it here, so guests previously know. Another thing, the cottages are surrounded by nature and plants (as most of the island), so naturally there are a lot of insects and geckos that often come in the room from roof gaps: a big gecko entered our room in the middle of the night, it was very noisy but the guy immediately offered us to change to another cottage! This one was slightly better but there were always noisy geckos at night and spiders. The guy is always there to help, clean or taking care of the animals so it's fine, just do not come here if you have a problem with insects and geckos!

Very nice cottages. Super helpful and friendly Kadek makes sure you have everything you need at all times!

The gecko that poops and pees on the bed every now and then. But if you ask Kadek will chance the sheets so no big deal.

Exceptional

We really enjoyed our time at Catar Cottages. Our cozy cottage was well equipped with enough space for our luggage, AC and a nice bathroom. We loved the beautiful tropical garden on the outside! Breakfast was simple, but ok. Kedak and his father were really nice and helpful, they organized the Manta snorkeling trip and the boat tour back to Bali for us. We got a lot of recommendations for Nusa Penida and felt very welcome. The cottages are located in the north west, close to Crystal Bay, Broken Beach, Angels Billabong and Kelingking Beach. Scooters can be rented directly at the site. Suksma!

The main road is nearby, so it can get a bit noisy during the night

wonderful hospitality in great accommodations for the best value

cute cottages, great AC, good water pressure with warm water, and wonderful hospitality especially with assistance coordinating activities (which is necessary if you can’t ride/don’t get a motor bike). this was one of the best places we stayed during our 2 weeks of travel around Indonesia! also- a delicious warung right up the street in walking distance that I highly recommend (warung tanah barak, turn right when leaving the cottage)
