The Lowood Cottage is a lovely spot just a bus ride outside of Edinburgh, with excellent amenities, a gorgeous view, and attentive hosts. It was cozy, but in the sense that it was very comfortable, not small! It ended up being quite large, and our group of four was able to get settled in with plenty of room to spare.
As a note to guests, make sure you allocate beds appropriately amongst yourselves! The two twin beds are understandably not quite big enough for a taller adult, and probably best left for shorter traveling companions or children. The other beds, however, are bigger than advertised.

The owner has really put in a lot of thought of how to make the stay comfortable for tenants. All the necessary kitchenware was present. There was even an umbrella which could come very handy as it rains often. They also suggested a beautiful walk very close to the cottage, which our family thoroughly enjoyed.
The sofa bed could have been better.
