Great vacation, would definitely return

Amazing views, cosy and clean room with a lovely design that combines the authentic architecture with modern elements, tasty breakfast and very helpful and welcoming staff. The Cucina restaurant where we had dinner is not to be missed as it definitely is a hot spot if you’re looking for fine dining with local flavors.

The most beautiful place to enjoy Bergamo!

Location is 10/10, beautifully presented property and extremely clean and comfortable. The breakfast is excellent and the cosy lounge and alfresco areas are all so tastefully done. We didn’t want to leave!

Amazing and Charming stay in Bergamo!

Amazing and beautiful accommodations on the top of the hill with an incredible view of the city below! The rooms were lovely and spacious. The restaurant at the hotel was fabulous and should not be missed... tho a bit pricey...it was worth entry Euro!

Overall, it was a pleasant day in a hotel, which I would recommend

I liked the historical location of the property being on the upper part of the city. The hotel has a charming garden and breakfast veranda under grapevines.

I didn’t really like the room we were given as I had to walk up a staircase to the bed. we were also told we had the only bedroom with an air conditioner.. Perhaps the property should consider installing more air conditioners as summers in Italy can get very hot.

This hotel was so sophisticated. It was modern inside while holding its heritage authenticity. The room was beautiful, with wild roses growing on the balcony that gave a beautiful aroma as we looked over Bergamo. A very special thanks to the staff for making our stay amazing.

This is a gem inside the old town of Bergamo. Beautiful views of the city and very relaxing.

Incredibly well done restoration of an old barracks. Excellent Architechture and fabulous interior decorating. The outside of the property is also wonderful space with pergolas covered with grape vines.

Wonderful stay in Bergamo

Very clean and beautiful rooms. Really interesting location at the top of the hill overlooking the town. If weather was good, it would have been amazing.

Tough to get back to at night, no taxis or Ubers. Totally uphill for 15-20 minutes.

We had an incredibly delicious breakfast. Rarely experienced anything like this. Nice comfortable room with good beds. Very friendly hotel staff. Garage with elevator available.

We regretted not being able to dine on the hotel's beautiful terrace in the evening. This was one of our reasons for choosing this hotel. Instead we could eat in the restaurant down the street where the terrace was fully booked and we ended up inside.

We had a little trouble working the a/c in our room. It turned on, but we couldn’t figure out how to control the temperature or keep the fan consistent. Otherwise, it was perfect!

Best hotel in northern Italy — relax and enjoy the view !

Wow we were so pleased with our stay at Relais San Vigilio al Castello! It is an absolutely unique hotel by the castle at the very top of old town of Bergamo. Breathtaking views from the rooms, and from their terraces and patio. Clear views of northern Italy — the alps, and views to Milan in the south east — accompany Breakfast, drinks, dinner. Restaurant on property is excellent, had outstanding meal. Rooms was unique but very comfortable with our own private balcony. Staff was very helpful at all times.

Driving directions were hard to follow — it was a bit hard to find because GPS doesn’t work and we had a small map on our phones — recommend printing out the map and reviewing that carefully before trying to drive it.

Beautiful surroundings, a tasteful, well-appointed room and brilliant staff!

The hotel exceeded our expectations and was excellent value for a couple. The room was large, cool, and well designed (plenty of space for luggage). The bathroom was also generous and very modern, with derssing gowns and slippers provided. The highlight though was the gardens which were stunning and we spent several hours relaxing and reading in various spots enjoying the landscaping and the views over Bergamo! The staff were incredibly very friendly and attentive, it was easy to order drinks or snacks on the terrace, or in the garden area with them. We also ate twice at the restaurant, which was excellent and very reaonably priced. We would return here in a heartbeat!

Difficult to find something not to like! If being very nitpicky, I would say the bed could be a little bigger (as the room was very large), and it would be nice to have a proper coffee machine in the room.

View is absolutely stunning. You cannot compare it to any other view - simply the best on offer in the city.

Would have loved some softer lighting options, we found the lighting quite bright and harsh on the eyes at night. Would have loved a softer towels/robe.

Beautiful place with amazing views. They had a lovely restaurant on site for a special occasion dinner. Breakfast was just amazing, they only have a few rooms so the service is just perfect. One of the best places I have been so far. The staff were incredibly helpful. My partner is vegan and they even made a vegan cake for breakfast. Just perfect.
