Lovely 4 night stay in Kirkwall

Very nice facilities and decor. The hosts were exceptional in helping us on arrival and departure. The location is great in that the harbor, restaurants and stores are in walking distance.

Lovely wee house

The house is a 20 second walk from the main Street but it's still quiet. It's really well provided for with comfortable beds, sofas and chairs. The shower was slightly on the small side but works well. The downstairs loo room is quite narrow but okay.

Great central location, very handy to all shops bars and restaurants and the tattoo parlour 😊

There was a continuous humming noise that I could hear from the top bedroom, not in the house sounded like it was from another dwelling/business, maybe a heat pump or something like that, it didn’t bother my husband and I am a very lite sleeper. Donald was very helpful coming and changing a smoke alarm battery that needed changing.

Perfect location in heart of Kirkwall. Walking distance to shops and restaurants. Very clean and lovely decor. Bedrooms were very spacious. Kitchen with all mod cons, including a coffee machine, and air fryer.

Great central location. Wonderful hosts who answered my questions long before my arrival. Probably the best stocked self-contained property I’ve ever stayed in, on both sides of the Atlantic. Terrified trip to Orkney.

Perfect property

House has everything you could possibly need. A lot of thought has gone into everything. Location is perfect, car space a a bonus. We had good contact with Sara and Donald before and was offered an early check in too which was appreciated.

We spent a very pleasant few days exploring from the house, it was just what we needed.

Breakfast N/A Our hosts were very helpful and Sara met us at the house when we arrived with a lovely welcome basket of goodies which we enjoyed throughout our stay. The house was in a very good location, just off the High Street in town and very easy to access. Parking was definitely a bonus and it was a quiet area. The house was very comfortable, it had everything that we needed, roomy bedrooms and a very pleasant sitting room and well equipped kitchen area. It was perfect for days out exploring and quiet evenings in relaxing. Thank you Sara and Donald

Really enjoyable and comfortable in central location we would definitely come here again

Plenty of room and tastefully decorated. The bed extremely comfortable and slept very well. Lots of little extras like toiletries in the bathroom and basket of goodies on arrival. Though centrally located quiet. Very close to a supermarket and shops. Handy parking so we could keep an eye on the car.

Hardly anything. The downstairs toilet has a tap which soaks you with water if not careful but we soon got the hang of it. Cutlery a little sparse and cooks knife needs sharpening. All minor things.

The location, decor, size, furnishings - everything really. Owners were quick to respond to messages, let us in early and leave late, met us at the door with a wee welcome pack. Fab.

Great place to stay for our long weekend in Orkney

Lovely property in the centre of town, a short walk from all local amenities and the bus station. Very comfortable and cosy without feeling small, and it was spotlessly clean! As we were there in Oct I was a little worried about how cold it might be as it's an old house, but it never felt cold. The beds were very comfortable. Our host, Donald, was very kind and even picked us up from the airport. Some milk, bread and a few local treats were waiting for us on arrival.

Amazingly convenient!

Couldn’t be beaten for convenience: just a few steps from the shops and really handy for everything else in Kirkwall. Plus it has its own parking place right outside. Yet it was quiet too. The house was a lot bigger than I expected, nicely presented and well equipped.

The only thing really was that the kitchen gets very narrow: unless you know each other very well: best if just one person at a time uses it!

Great location, right in the centre of Kirkwall with good access to local shops. Really well equipped house Plenty of space with good sized bedrooms and living space. Really nice decor as well and plenty of soft blankets to make it even more comfortable

The property was brilliant. Perfect for a family that wants to stay in Kirkwall. The location was amazing. Everything that Kirkwall had to offer was basically at your fingertips. Walk out the door and your in the town centre. The house was clean and has everything you need. It also has its own car space so you never have to worry about finding a space.

It really is hard to say!! We pretty much found it faultless. If I was being hyper critical the only thing for me would be a king size bed in the family bedroom rather than a double.

Donald and Sara are fantastic hosts, easy to contact and very accommodating. On the day I was due to check in, my flight was late and the weather had turned. Sara kindly picked me up from the airport.

This is a wonderful place to stay. A home from home! the owners go above and beyond to make your stay as well equipped and comfortable as possible. The facilities are fantastic. We had everything we needed and more! the property has lovely decor and furnishings. the kitchen is so well equipped. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the living room is a lovely family space. The extras provided were very much appreciated, we were travelling with a toddler and owners kindly provided some toys, a travel cot and children’s cutlery / crockery. We really felt so well looked after. You can tell they put so much effort in for their guests. There is a great choice for your technology as a smart TV and fire stick is provided. Lots of cosy bedding and towels etc. The location is excellent and we were provided with a parking permit too which is super. You can walk anywhere around Kirkwall quite easily from the house. Highly recommended!!

Everything was just perfect for us.

The house was very centrally located in Kirkwall but very quiet. It was spotlessly clean. All furnishings were of a very high standard and so fresh. The decor was lovely. Linen and towels were of a high quality. Beautifully warm. Would highly recommend.

No toast rack or bread knife. No cloth in the kitchen for wiping round. Plenty of towels but would not have used these. These are minor things but thought we’d mention them as you asked!
