Spacious Harbour House

Cold when we arrived and could not find the thermostat. Contacted agent but he kept repeating what was written on the landing, eventually found the thermostat in a totally different room and warmed up nicely.

Had arranged an early check-in and contacted the agent when we arrived in Wick and he charged us extra to check-in an hour earlier....house looked as though it had been empty the previous night at least! Disappointed.

There was nothing to like.

My wife and I are from South Africa but, we are regular travellers to the UK and Scotland. I reserved our stay at this property well in advance and I also paid well in advance. We were booked to stay for two nights but, upon our arrival, we found the place unsuitable for the following reasons: 1. The place is located in what can only be described to be an industrial area. 2. Parking is off-site, in the street and the area seems unsafe. 3. There were several overflowing rubbish bins on the pavement, outside the front door. 4. I located the keys in the key safe, opened the door and found that the lobby / entrance hall, which forms the first floor of the apartment / house / flat was visibly wet. 5. The place reeked and is very mouldy, obviously because of the wetness. I must impress, not damp, but wet! 6. I went up to the first and second floor where there were a bathroom and kitchen. both floors of these two rooms were wet, and the mouldy smell persisted throughout the entire house. 7. I opened two or three of the build-in-cupboards / wardrobes and they were all stuffed full of tools and building materials. 8. I suffer from asthma, and I will not risk triggering an asthma attack, living in a place like that. 9. We then decide to find alternative accommodation, and, in the end, we stayed at the Victoria Hotel in town for two nights. 10. After we checked in at the hotel, I emailed the host at Harbour House, explained the situation and asked that he should refund us. 11. He was not accommodating and, in the end, just ignored me. I have sent him two further messages since then, but he failed to respond to any.

The host cannot provide a house as described in booking.com. The host only gave us a house with 2 bedrooms.

The property was just lovely ! Right in the heart of Wick and modern and clean. Close to everything!
