Cosy and pretty but too small for 7 and quite difficult to access

It was a pretty and rustic cabin. It was great that you could ski to it but the conditions were very bad, so the ski back was more like an ice rink every day and particularly difficult if you want to leave in the evening

There were sleds made available but the managers of the location should supply micro spikes or make it very clear that you need to bring them to get up and down the hill at times. It got incredibly icy and very difficult to get up and down the road. You should also be aware that if you need to leave to early to get a train you need to make your own way down with your luggage and I actually don’t think many people could do it. It was incredibly treacherous, black ice everywhere and really quite dangerous should you slip and hit your head. I needed to have a friend come and help and even between us it was hard getting down.

Michael and Janine met us at the base of the road and transported us and all of our bags to the hutte. They were extremely helpful and showed us all of the key things about the accomodation. The use of space in the hutte is fantastic, with 8 of us comfortably fitting in just fine despite the small area. The hutte was well equipped and the hosts provided a lot of drinking water at the start of the week meaning we did not need to purchase much of our own. We managed to ski down from the hutte each morning and back to it from above each morning which was very convenient. On one day the schattberg x-press was closed early due to high winds meaning we were stranded in Saalbach at the base of the hill with all of our ski gear on. Michael drove all the way from Zell-Am-See at a moments notice to help us and give us a lift back up to the hutte. We were extremely grateful for this.

The weather wasn't great during our stay with no fresh snow, meaning that on the journey down from the hutte each morning we had to take our skis off for some sections of bare ground. We had to do the same on the ski down from the Schattberg X-Press middle station at the end of each day, but it was very manageable. We were able to walk down to town each day without too many issues, and after a few drinks the walk back up wasn't too bad either! It wasn't particularly convenient to get shopping up to the hutte due to it's location but Michael did offer to take us up to the accommodation with a shop if we needed it. On the whole, the location suits intermediate skiiers rather than beginners, and the amount of money you save for the inconvenience of being a 20-30 minute walk from town makes the location worth it in my opinion.

Toller Winterurlaub mitten in der Natur

Gute Anbindung an die Skipiste, wenn ausreichend Schnee liegt. Es stehen Schlitten zur Verfügung. Perfekt ist der separate Skiraum. Unkomplizierter und schneller Transport mit dem Snowmobil bei An- und Abreise. Sehr netter Kontakt. In der Hütte ist alles, was man braucht. Mitten in der Natur, Rehe stehen oft vor dem Fenster.

Kein Spülbecken fürs Geschirr vorhanden, dafür aber ein kleiner Geschirrspüler.

Geweldig locatie

Locatie werkelijk geweldig. Met de skies of slee (voor iedereen een slee beschikbaar) de berg af. Huisje is volledig en compleet. Kan voor 8 personen maar ik zou adviseren niet meer dan 6 volwassenen en 2 kinderen.

Let op: Geen tegenvallers, wel goed om te weten: Geen drinkwater (wel volledig verzorgd door eigenaar waterflessen). Wij miste een spoelbak in de keuken, opzich geen echte ramp maar miste het gemak. (vaatwasser en speelmogelijkheden in badkamer). Elektriciteit zit niet bij de prijs, deze wordt achteraf afgerekend. Wij waren er 4 volle dagen met 6 volwassenen en moesten € 64,00 betalen. Dit vonden wij totaal geen probleem, maar wel goed om te weten.
