2 The Gathering Chester Central

The location was fabulous. A few minutes stroll are we were in the heart of Chester.

Had to phone in the morning to ask for grill pan or baking tray as there weren’t any so we couldn’t use the grill or oven. We were hoping to cook a light breakfast but the grill pan wasn’t delivered until 7pm at night. The road outside the house was very noisy and very busy making it difficult to sleep at night. It also meant you couldn’t park directly outside the house to drop off supplies or luggage. The light bulb had gone in the hall making it dangerous to get to the bedrooms at night. The showers had black mould around the seals. The mirrors in the bathroom were ridiculously high in the wall and there were no other mirrors in the bedrooms. There were no wear to hang or store clothes in some of the bedrooms.

Absolutely lovely place, clean, very comfortable & close to everything. It was my grandson's friends 21st, they said they really felt spoilt at being in such a lovely place...they left a rose for the cleaner 👍. Next time a group of us are in Chester will definately look to book again. Thank you. Apologies I had to ring, I didnt check my junk folder and that is where I found the door code

There wasn't really anything to complain about, it was pretty tidy.

Excellent location both for parking and city centre.

Some of the rooms were very small and 2 people struggled to change in there. Luggage had to be kept on the landing.

The location is close to the centre but this positive is not enough to outweigh the many negatives.

Where do we start…. In summary, we paid hotel prices for what can only be described as a hostel at best. This property has been mis sold and the pictures should not be believed. I would avoid staying here at all costs! The beds were crammed in like a caravan with literally no room to put any luggage or hang any clothes. The mattresses were of the worst quality I have come across and were small singles. No mattress or pillow protectors on, just a sheet against a very old mattress. One pillow per bed. The only mirrors were in the bathroom and were positioned so high that only a 6ft person would be able to see in them. The carpet and decor was terrible, dark grey chipped walls and cord carpet with no underlay. The facilities downstairs would not have seated the guests if all the beds were used, there were 8 of us and it was a squeeze. The noise from the road is unbearable at night and the windows were so poor some wouldn’t shut properly. I could go on. I feel this is an ex student residence that even students have rejected and the owners are trying to make an income from poor guests like us that were sucked in by their clever marketing. I think Booking.com should not market this property any longer and I will be taking this further.

The property is perfect to accommodate a big group . Perfect location as it’s walking distance to the town centre.

The mirrors in the toilets /shower room were too high almost to the ceiling unable to look into it unless you are 6ft + tall!! And for a property which sleeps 14 not enough mirrors just one tall one in the entrance area. Two of the showers were running very hot water unable to use it and the other was just trickling not a great flow and to top it off on check out day no water was running at all from one of the showers. The beds mattresses couldn’t with replacing as they are so flat when you lie on them.

No bathroom for top floor apart from ensuite, not enough mirrors for 11 women! 🙈 plus those that were there weren’t near plug sockets, light on landing flashing intermittently - caretaker came out bit said she had wrong bulb so would have to come back.. she didn’t 🤷🏻‍♀️

Clean, comfortable, warm and a great location for 12 people to share 👍🏻
