This house is on two floors with white marble floors, two double bedrooms, one single room with a pull out bed and two bathrooms. One bathroom has a large bath. The house enters from the street and is very private. The furniture is of high quality and has been lovingly lived in. The outdoor space is on two levels with plenty of room for outdoor dining and lounging. You can come back from the sea and leave all wet towels and clothes to dry in the sun. We hope you enjoy it!

First; full disclosure, we are from the United States and our expectations likely differ from others. The listing said air conditioned and that has a certain expectation for us. What it offered was one mobile A/C unit that was in the living room. The 3 bedrooms are not air conditioned. The hose from the mobile a/c unit was going out of a window and the hose was torn where it meets the unit so hot air was basically blowing out the back and cool air out the front. The gate to the property locked, but the doors to the property could not be locked with the key... you could not get the key to turn all the way to lock and remove and the key got stuck in the mechanism a few times as we tried and we finally got it out. Not all the windows/doors close on the unit, but we needed them open for air. The location was beautiful, but the walk up with luggage is no joke... about 75-80 steps so be prepared. Communicating with and reaching the host was difficult, they did not answer the phone listed, they gave the number to the restaurant they owned and said we needed to pick up key at the restaurant, but the restaurant was closed the day we arrived. They knew what day we arrived and assumedly knew the restaurant would be closed, but did not disclose that. The beds were hard (some people like that, we did not). There were 3 bedrooms and only 2 fans. The view was great, the terrace was great and having a washer (no dryer) was very nice. Convenient location even with steps. Lots of potential...

Pros: centrally located in the heart of Vernazza along the trail to Corniglia, comfortable for six people, awesome terrace, charming entrance, washer, Paolo was very friendly at check in. Cons: no dryer like the listing says (but you can hang clothes outside), lots of stairs (fine for us but would be difficult for the elderly or disabled), noisy with train and church bells, no communication about checkout.Overall a fantastic place--highly recommended!

Paolo was wonderful and kind host. The village of Vernazza was very charming and picturesque! The property was a little beat up- one of the windows wouldn’t shut and there was a storm that night the window was banging and it scared my youngest son. Although, you had to climb a significant amount of stairs to get to the property, it felt like it was straight out of a movie.

This property housed our group well. Lots of space and beds. We loved the location despite the stairs! The locked gate gave us added security as we were a group of women. We did use the washing machine and felt very Italian by hanging our laundry out to dry. It was right off the Cinque Terre Trail and close To the train station. One member of our group was very sad that the coffee maker didn’t work. Great stay at a great price

The renovated barn provides access to all Tuscany has to offer. From the cable cab in Certaldo to the exciting vineyards of the environs you have the opportunity to enjoy all. We loved the patio for sunsets, the barbecue for al fresco dining and the vistas of the country side. Gambassi provided a wonderful Enoteca for local wines and information. Leonardo spent time acclimating us to all the wonderful amenities. A perfect place for a extraordinary holiday. Great restaurants and vineyards close by. Highly recommended but be aware of the 1km gravel entrance drive.

Casa Carla was perfect for our group of 5 people.
We loved sitting on the terrace, watching the people below and the trains come and go. It is quite a climb with luggage, but worth it.

Centrally located in Veenqzza, the uphill trek to and from Casa Carla really gives the impression of how the local lives. The property is perfect for family, the patio which overlooks the village is perfect for morning coffee or late night relaxing.
Comfortable and cozy.

We all loved this location and property. It's in a great location, except there are a lot of stairs. We found out there are a lot of stairs throughout Cinque Terre. I can't think of one thing we didn't like. The patio was great. It had a good view of the main street to watch the activities below.
It was clean, the host was helpful answering questions. We needed to check in at the restaurant, it is Tavern/Bar del Capitano. We had a bit of trouble finding it. Other than that our stay was perfect. The food at the restaurant was yummy.
I would love to go back.
Thank you for a great vacation.

The house was as described and was clean and close to the trail. The deck was nice and spacious. It is recommended to agree on communication ahead of time as we had a minor question that was left unanswered through VRBO message; however, they have a restaurant in town so assume we could have gone into town to ask.

We stayed at Casa Carla for 3 nights and absolutely loved it. Although you need to take quite a few stairs to get to the apartment it is well worth it. The views of the city and the main street are great. You are a short walk to everything Vernazza has to offer. The apartment beds are comfortable and it has everything you would need to make your stay special.

The property is very much a part of Vernazza and Cinque Terre. We were greated by the host and escorted to the property and given a tour of the house. Beautiful views of town. Close to train station.

The first thing you need to know about this property is that it is 72 steps up. It was really hard to drag our luggage up.
To check in, you have to go to town and find this guy who works in a restaurant. The address given is not the place. When I went it was wrong, but some old timers sitting outside asked me who I was looking for. I gave them the name, they instantly recognized it, and told me where to find him. (Charming experience.)
I was unfortunate enough to leave my passport, id and credit cards behind when I checked out. I was miles away when I discovered this, and traumatized. I contacted the owner who was kind enough to go check for them in the unit. She said she would call me back. I waited. Finally, I called her and she said did not find them.
Two days later on our way to the airport, the next guest contacted me to let me know she found them. My trip had to be cut short because of this. How I wish the owner had looked a little more closely. Of course, it is my responsibility not to leave things this important behind, but I would been able to finish my trip as planned if she had looked a little more closely.
Vernazza is gorgeous, but there are flies to contend with. The flies made it hard to enjoy our outside space. You will not find a modern place in Vernazza, that is part of the charm. This place was dated, but clean and functional.
We could not figure out how to use the coffee pot, though.

We stayed with friends for 3 nights at Casa Carla. Positives: close to everything in Vernazza, spacious apartment with nice outside terraces for relaxing.
Negatives: Very noisy. We were only 100 meters from the train station and the noise from that was problematic. Also, being on the main street, noise from garbage collection at 5am was also unexpected. The apartment was clean but very dated and there wasn't much interior sitting room for 4 people except at the table.
Another factor: There are a lot of steps to get to the apartment so hauling luggage up from the train was also a challenge.
Bottom line: apartment was adequate but nothing spectacular. Views of the ocean were limited.

Wonderful base for our 6 night stay in Cinque Terre. 2 couples and we loved this apartment with 2 balconies. Paolo and Julia were great hosts and made check-in and out very easy. Lots of stairs to climb and train station nearby but this only added to the charm. Highly recommend this apartment.
6.0 / 10.0
The apartment has great potential in terms of its size, its wonderful outdoor areas and its location but we were disappointed with the cleanliness (eg fridge and cupboards), unkept promises (assistance with luggage on arrival) and the maintenance of the property. Trains were noisy but we got used to them and they almost added to the experience. Still had a great time and it was still a fantastic base from which to explore Cinque Terra, but a shame more attention has not been given to detail. There are 79 steps up from street level (not untypical in Vernazza) and in the week we were there, we witnessed multiple falls and injuries on one individual step, so climbing not for the physically faint and care needed on descent.
4.0 / 10.0
It is in a great location and has lots of outside space. However everything is very tired and out of date. The upstairs patio chairs were so rusty they would break. No instructions in apartment on what to do with rubbish, nothing said at meeting with your rep. No tea towels, no washing pods for dishwasher. The shower in downstairs had no wall attachment and side of bath broken.
This could be a beautiful place if some tender loving care given to it
The fridge and freezer desperately need cleaning and replacing

Paolo and his team were so nice. The people of vernazza are warm and hospitable. This was my second trip to vernazza and having a place to stay in the village itself was key to our experience.

We enjoyed our stay at Casa Carla. The Two floor apartment had everything we needed. There were 5 of us and if was great to have the privacy of two floors and two bathrooms! There was a small washer for laundry and we hung the clothes out to dry on the lovely terrace. There was early morning street noise and as others have mentioned you can hear the train. It wasn’t an issue for us. It was nice to have A/C too. Great location! Just up a few sets of stairs on beautiful back alley.

Paolo, our host, kindly greeted us while running his restaurant and gave us some pointers about the town. This 3 bedroom apartment is perfectly located up just a few steps to the top of the building with views of the train station and all the businesses in the Main Street. When all the tourists leave for the day, you will be glad you stayed. Great service. Great restaurants everywhere.

Short walk from train station we checked in at the restaurant owned by VRBO owner. A helpful gentleman threw 2 of our bags on his shoulder and we started the steep pathway to Casa Carla. The steps mentioned in other reviews are no joke! I counted almost 100 from the Main Street and short walk to the beautiful piazza by the sea. Casa Carla was well worth the climb and Vernazza was more beautiful than I could ever describe! Just a suggestion to pack light if possible.
10.0 / 10.0
The house was well located. Nice terrace. Close to everything. Also, close to the train station which is making a bit of noise but I think it is difficult to avoid that because the train station is located close to almost everything in Vernazza.

We stayed in the apartment for 3 nights. It was perfect for the four of us (there was even an additional bedroom where my son-in-law could work if necessary). It was very clean and exactly as pictured and described in the listing. We appreciated the well equipped kitchen and enjoyed breakfast on the terrace each morning. My daughter and I also enjoyed a glass of local wine on the terrace after our hikes. We received our booking confirmation promptly with instructions on how to check in. The owners were very friendly! The steps to Casa Carla weren’t a problem and neither was the noise from the train.

This property is perfectly Vernazza. Tucked up and around, both the indoor and outdoor spaces remind visitors that they have arrived.

The hosts just completely stopped replying to our messages through the app after our initial inquiry into the non-functioning fridge when we first checked in, not did they answer literally any other messages during our stay. We didn’t even receive an answer when we inquired about how to check out. I had to try to call the host multiple times on the morning that we were supposed to be leaving, and when THAT was met with no answer, eventually my partner had to walk down to the Main Street to try to find the owners because we didn’t know what to do. This was stressful and pretty frustrating.
The food at the restaurant owned by the hosts is wonderful. Best Trofie pasta and pesto we had in Cinque Terre, hands down.
The unit was cool- It has its own little courtyard outside where you can see the town and is pretty spacious. It’s very close to the main town area and the train station, which is super convenient.
The sound from the train station is super loud, especially at night/ Besides the sound of the trains coming and going, you can hear the “ding ding” of the doors closing & the announcements from the station speakers clear as day from like 6/7 am to midnight.
The power kept going out & we didn't know there was a breaker by the front door to turn it all back on. When we got there initially the fridge was off and defrosting because of it. It happened (& the fridge kept shutting off) several times throughout our stay when we were sleeping or out so we decided not to use the fridge much as it didn’t seem like we could trust it.
There aren't really any extra supplies, so bring laundry soap, paper towel, garbage bags, napkins, a new sponge, etc. Relatively clean unit overall, but the kitchen and its contents could have used a deep clean

The property is a unique 3 bedroom, 2 bath home. It is clean but needs a little bit of TLC. Lots of outdoor space. It is a good walk up and down from the home to the street. I would definitely rent again but pack lighter. You are in Vernazza. Both the home and location are beautiful and a great "start exploring" kick off point.

The apartment was great. The steps up to it were a bit daunting but we got the hang of it. The patio was large and it was nice to sit out there and relax. It is close to the train station which was loud, but they didn’t run late at night. The town was sweet and we would stay there again if we ever went back. Also, the owner was great as was the food at his restaurant.

My third time staying in Vernazza. The apt. was perfect for my family stay in terms of space. The terrace was lovely where we enjoyed many meals together. It took awhile and some earplugs to get used to the sound of the frequent trains but that’s Vernazza. Paulo was very accommodating for all of our requests. Kitchen was well stocked although a new fridge would be something to consider. Overall, we had a great two weeks at Casa Carla!

Lovely place just off the main drag in Vernazza. Host is friendly and helpful, apartment has the basics to cook a meal, and our family of 6 had plenty of space to relax. Would definitely stay here again

This apartment is located in the heart on Vernazza, arguably the most scenic of the 5 towns of the Cinque Terre. The outdoor terrace with an outdoor dining table and lounge chairs was a huge plus, and that’s where we spent most of our time. There are the usual appliances and A/C, but the uniqueness of this property will warm your heart. There is no water view, but the view overlooking the town is spectacular. The only serious thing to consider is that the nights are LOUD due to the trains that rattle by at all hours of the night, so it’s hard to get sleep with the windows open. We used ear plugs and shut the windows at night which basically solved the problem. The property managers Paolo and Julia are super nice and responsive. They own a traditional restaurant in town which we also enjoyed. But if you come, pack light because stairs are everywhere in Vernazza, and this apartment, like many others, involves a few flights. Overall a great apartment and one we would love to stay in again.

The house is large enough for 6 people, but it is not very clean, near the train station so it is very noisy, the location is very convenient.

Lovely Vernazza
Great stay! Definitely stay in Vernazza instead of day tripping in so you can enjoy it without the hoards of tourists. The crowds start thinning out late afternoon and everything in the town is accessible and easy. The apartment has lovely views of the main street below. It was a comfortable base for us. You enter through a gate and the large patio is to your right. The patio is a nice place to enjoy focaccia, fried seafood and cold beverages. There was a balcony off the upstairs bedroom where we hung our laundry out to dry and also watch the activities of the town below. It's true that the train is very loud. You kind of have to choose between opening the windows for cool breezes or close them to muffle the noise. Wasn't the best for sleeping but we got used to the sounds and we made up for sleep in our next city.
Enjoy the pace and rhythm of things. We saw a wedding, saw the small procession from the church to the top of town, and then saw them again at dinner, celebrating and dancing. We saw the small market that sets up Tuesday mornings.
We received clear instructions beforehand and check in was easy. Get ready for many steps but it is nothing when you look around at how people got around and worked the land for centuries.

Great overall stay
This is a great central place to stay in Cinque Terre. After visiting all five towns Vernazza is quite possibly best in terms of scenery and convenience. Both trails were open to hike to Monterosso and Corniglia while all other legs to the south were shut. Plenty of restaurants and shops all around. Overall very good.

Nice, comfortable apartment in a gorgeous little village
The apartment is clean, comfortable and spacious. It has all the necessary features for an enjoyable stay. The apartment is located right in centre of beautiful Vernazza. Sometimes, it is a little noisy, due to the proximity of the rail station. During the day one does not pay attention to it, it can be a little annoying in the night for noise-sensitive persons. Overall, we truly enjoyed very much our stay.

Paradise Found
We are a full time travelling family and this was really our favorite spot so far. If you're looking at which city in the Cinque Terre to stay in, Vernazza is IT. Less touristy, better local vibes, super easy train access, shops right under this flat, and the best harbour / prettiest village. The flat is very spacious, comfortable, and the hosts were wonderful. We had everything we needed and the terrace was an amazing bonus. Perfect location in town. We often stayed in the village but also hiked the trail between the 5 towns that make the Cinque Terre to see it all. (Highly recommended, though not easy hikes --but our young kids did it, even the 4 yr old!)
This was my journal entry the morning we left: The sun is up in Vernazza, Italy- the jewel in the crown of the Cinque Terre. Warm rays highlight the Ligurian pastel colored homes, and forest green shutters prop open to take advantage of the honeysuckle scented breezes drifting off the mountain. The woman who runs the bottega in the center of town puts out boxes of fresh apricots, flowering zucchini, red apples, and giant bushels of tart grapes. Fishermen in small wooden boats call out, one to another, as they motor past the rolling blue morning waves pushing against the boulder wall in the harbor. Backpackers, tourists, and locals walk down the pedestrian only main street, at different paces specific to their destinations. The smell of rich coffee and warmed pastries wafts out of the cafes surrounding the piazza, and a few handsome older men sit outside on metal chairs, smoking hand rolled cigarettes and sharing observations on The State of Things. A train zooms into the rail station behind the main road with a whoosh! and an Italian woman’s voice announces mask wearing expectations and the next stop over the loudspeaker. A young man sweeps in front of a restaurant, an old woman calls out to her neighbor. I stand on the pier for a moment, snap a pic of my favorite place I’ve been so far, then climb back up the smoothed steps to the most perfectly charming flat we’ve been staying in, to finish packing our family’s bags in order to catch the morning train. Ciao bella Vernazza!
Many thanks Julia and Paolo!

Overall this is a very nice property. Clean and spacious with almost every kitchen gadget you could want. It has a wonderful deck where you can enjoy the sights and sounds of this charming town.It is literally a few feet from the start of the Vernazza to Corniglia trail. There are restaurants all around and once inside it is a comfortable environment to sit and enjoy the Cinque Terre. The sounds, however, can be quite loud. Situated quite close to the rail station is both a blessing and a curse. Trains rumble by frequently, and the overhead announcements for the arrivals and departures can be heard and understood.Fortunately the frequency of the trains slows dramatically after 10 pm. They do start back up about 6 am. In addition to the trains, there is a very active bar with an energetic crowd just below the apartments location. Again, while noisy throughout the dinner hour and a little beyond, the crowd dispersed by 11 or so.The other item that is frequently mentioned in reviews is the stairs. Let's just say that your legs will get a workout, but you do get used to it. Unless you are mobility challenged, the stairs should not be the reason to exclude this property. The best news is that there is a very inexpensive luggage service available at the train station. The owners of the apartment paid to have our bags delivered from the train station to the apartment. I inquired and found that they would also come back to the apartment and deliver the bags back to the train station for 4 euro per bag. You are absolutely nuts if you don't take advantage of this service. I wish I would have taken a picture of the little store where the luggage office is, but just look for it before you exit the stairs from the train station to the street. One last note. The owners are sometimes a little slow to respond, but be patient, they will get back to youWould I stay here again? Absolutely.
