The Cherry Tree

It's the fourth time we have stayed at the Cherry Tree pub and we really like it. Fantastic pub with very friendly staff and a great beet garden. The Broadside room is at the back of the car park and is a great size and very quiet away from the road. Nice open plan room with a comfortable sofa and good size TV plus a good separate bathroom.

The only thing for me would be that the shower and sink needs a bit of updating otherwise its perfect.

Breakfast menu and Dinner menu was good. Deluxe room was lovely and very clean.

The first issue was the chair to sit at the dressing table. We were getting ready to go to a wedding so I sat on this to do my makeup and hair. After, I stood up I had black material stuck to my skin from the chair. My skin was not wet as I had showered 1.5 hours previously before breakfast. Secondly, after having a lovely breakfast experience Tuesday, we were extremely disappointed with the very poor service and lack of attention from the man that was serving. We arrived at 9.15 and there was one other couple, who had just been given a coffee. We were given a menu straight away and after 2/3 mins if that had decided what we wanted and moved the menu to the side. After chatting to a lady, who I think was a member of staff, for a bit, he sat outside and then started sorting cutlery which continued until my husband got up, 9.40 and said to him, can you take our order please. I asked for water, in which he said I’ll get that for you now but came with our tea and proceeded to go outside and sit, until eventually he then brought is a bottle of water and went back outside. I also went outside. The chef then had to come out and get him but then decided to serve us the breakfast himself. There was no cutlery given to us we had to go and get our own, we wasn’t asked if we wanted sauces ect. This was all very disappointing! Thirdly, we left and went to pack our things up, which was now going to be a rush. We left our door open due to the hot weather and at 10.35 the lady who cleans the rooms came up the stairs, obviously thinking we had checked out. My husband was sitting on the bed and had just finished putting his shorts on! How was this not communicated, we hadn’t checked out.

Couldn't stay for breakfast because wasn't served until 9.00am!
