Lovely well managed hotel.

The hotel was very cosy. Well cleaned rooms, friendly staff. Food was very good. Breakfast portion was too big of smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, 2 small slices of sourdough would have been perfect! Maybe a juice aswell as the coffee would have been nice instead of that third slice. Free water was also very good and free parking on site. The dinner vegan burger was the yummiest veggie burger I had ever had and was very good value for money, freshly made and tasted incredible, bursting with scrumptious flavours, fresh avacado, chipotle!

The noise of the fans outside. hence I imagine the ear plugs given free :(

Lovely luxury stay.

Beautiful hotel with a lovely comfy bed. The room was a great size and very comfortable. It smelled absolutely beautiful. I only stayed a night, but there were plenty of wardrobe and drawer space if you were staying longer. I had breakfast included and it was delicious. I'm vegan and I had plenty of options for both dinner and breakfast. Staff were very friendly and attentive.

I was a single guest, but two chairs in the room would be good if you were staying as a couple. A mini fridge to keep water cold would be fab. The bin on the en suite was rusty.

A fabulous gem!

We stumbled upon this fabulous hotel whilst looking for somewhere to stay between two work locations, and what a find! From the decor, the food, rooms & Staff, it oozes style & ambience. SO much so, that we’ve now stayed here a couple of times, and will continue to do so in the future. Can highly recommend.

Room was quite small and was like a sauna (literally!). Sooo hot! The staff very kindly tried to turn off the radiator for us, but we had to have the air-con on most of the night (massive waste of energy).

It’s only because I’m fussy with OCD. Found lots of dust especially on base of lamp in bedroom few cobwebs especially in bar area . Toilets in bar need all edges cleaned .

The room was very hot. In the middle of December you don’t expect to have the windows open. It was therefore quite noisy. Outside noise and noise from restaurant. Also Frustrating to know there were nicer quiet rooms available(for same price).

Professionally run hotel offering comfortable rooms, superb food and an excellent restaurant

This is the 2nd visit to J.D Young, only this time I booked 3 rooms as I had colleagues with me. My room (No.1) was huge and tastefully decorated, with a large comfortable bed where I managed to sleep for a full 8 hours. The bar and restaurant was excellent, where we ate far more than we should because the food is so nice.

If I wanted to be really picky, I would say my poached eggs at breakfast were a little underdone, but in all honesty, having had such a large meal the night before, it wasn't an issue.

Perfect little night away for us.

The food was amazing, as always. The staff were very accommodating for dietary needs. The room was very nice, big and clean. The blinds on the windows were really good at keeping daylight out.

The bed wasn’t as comfortable as we would have liked, but we appreciate this is personal choice.

Every thing we needed .

We found the property the perfect location , for our search in the local area . The staff were extremely helpful , friendly and efficient. The food menu was extensive and we dined there both nights of our stay . The food was delicious and the restaurant staff extremely professional . If in future we return to the area, will hopefully be able to arrange our stay with JD young .

Excellent hotel right on the market square, friendly and welcoming staff.

This is a really well kept hotel right on the market square in the bustling town of Harleston. My bike - we were touring - was safely locked up overnight in the office, and my room was spacious, well-appointed and the bed very comfortable. The window is double glazed and I wasn't troubled by traffic noise, in fact it was very quiet indeed. We had a very good dinner in the characterful restaurant downstairs and a perfectly decent breakfast the next morning. All in all, highly recommended.

Served our purpose but didn't quite match our expectations. regarding the price you charged.

The staff were very helpful and accommodating.

Disappointed with our original room in the attic having to climb two sets of narrow stairs which was a daunting prospect for two 86 year olds. Would like to thank your waitress Lara or Tara who listened to our complaint and obviously brought it to the attention of the management and we were moved to a more convenient room.

Good location. Great staff, bit noisy in the evening

Good room comfortable bed. Fan was welcomed. Nice sized bathroom with a bath. Staff all young girls were excellent helpful and friendly. Well cooked breakfast.

Small car park/parking spaces. Prefer help yourself breakfast. Mainly hot choices only. Croissant was really awful. Hard and tough. Corridors have no natural light so a light comes on as you walk. The lights were a bit late so you walked into darkness. Didn’t like that. Sink in bathroom too small, glass shelf above didn’t help. Water went everywhere when cleaning teeth/washing face. Above a bar which got quite raucous in the evening. People enjoying themselves but a bit noisy.

Decent place to stay

The room was clean and well appointed with a decent sized tv. The bed was comfortable and breakfast was of reasonable quality.

I asked for an iron but sadly it was just a normal iron and had burn marks from previous use. Thankfully I have my own in the car for emergencies so used that.

I was really pleasantly surprised by the whole experience and would go back in a heartbeat.

The hotel is very nicely appointed: really punches above its weight. The staff are engaged and engaging, which makes interaction pleasant and fulfilling. The menu in the restaurant is fairly pub-grub, but they do it well, and it's tasty. The (inclusive) breakfast is as good a cooked breakfast as I've had this year. The room and the en suite were both very clean and in excellent repair.

The place is a busy pub as well as an inn, so was playing loud music outside my window until 11.30pm. But when I went and asked, they did turn it off! And charging for a second cup of coffee at breakfast does raise an eyebrow.

Good food at dinner and also breakfast. The staff were as accommodating as possible on our arrival. Room was clean and very modern in its decor

Room was quite noisy especially at 5.00 in the morning. I would suggest a slight improvement to the breakfast could be a self serve buffet for cereals and juices perhaps
