The Crown, Bildeston

Nice sized room with large, comfy bed and good sized bathroom in this wonderful old inn. Great real ales and wines. Dinner was superb- one of the best meals we've eaten this year, clearly cooked with care from local produce. Great car parking availability, and nice garden areas.

Not much- minor quibble is that the room overlooked the courtyard which was noisy until the bar shut, but nothing you wouldn't expect from an inn this size.

Rooms were brilliant - lots of space and very charming. Bathroom was spotless. Staff were incredibly helpful, including the lady who let us in at 2 in the morning (slightly the worse for wear after a wedding). Breakfast was excellent (a real life-saver). The weather was scorching and they had put fans in both our rooms.

No issues at all.

A very pleasant (?)17th. century inn, tastefully decorated throughout with some nice little touches. Tea and coffee maker in the room with complimentary bottled water and homemade shortbread. A nice deep bath in the shower room with complimentary toiletries. Nicely positioned in the heart of the village with ample parking at the rear. The bar area is comfortable with a nice log fire.

Didn't get too much sleep because the room was so hot. This seemed to be a common experience with the other two couples we stayed with. We explained that we were going to be late back that evening and told that if the door was locked there would be a phone number to ring. We arrived back just before midnight and as the door was locked we phoned the number. After ringing for a while it went onto answerphone saying that there was nobody available to take our call but if we wanted to book a room then to go onto their website. Not very helpful. Fortunately we were able to find a fire door that hadn't been locked and were able to get in otherwise I don't know what we would have done.
