Slightly disappointing house for xmas stay

Peaceful and close to local shops. Good base for exploring Cotswolds

Carpets in need of professional cleaning in some areas. Top floor bedroom was freezing cold..the radiator was not working and obviously hadn't been for a while as a portable heater was left .however this had previously melted an area of carpet so we didn't like to use it due to safety. No frying pan in the kitchen..we can't be the only people who like to have eggs and bacon for breakfast? No chopping board either to protect worktops and the knob to the top grill that operates the temperature is just about hanging on. Two of the 6 dining chairs were in very bad repair. One in particular was just about being held together by its cover. The youngest, smallest member of our party perched on the seat of the chair at meal times and ensured she didn't lean against the back but the chair is an accident waiting to happen! There appeared to be a very slight leak in the kitchen above the glass tea and coffee jars as they were wet. We laid kitchen roll in their place and it also became soggy. Rugs in the dining room and living room continuously "rucked up" ..we were constantly smoothing them out to prevent our elderly relative from tripping. Parking infront of the rear garage is quite tight and one of the neighbours knocked asking if we had blocked in their garage as it's always happening (we hadn't!) It would be a great house for 6 adults to share if it was given a bit of general maintenance all over...grubby light coloured carpet does it no favours.

Location was good 15 mins from Witney

Would have loved air conditioning 🥵 as it was a lovely hot weekend. The garden has so many tall weeds all around the bench etc. I nearly pulled them up myself not good would only take 30 minutes. I believe the owners might live away.

Perfect family break with home comforts

The house was really well equipped, the size was pleasantly deceiving and the beds were super comfortable. Parking is perfectly located behind the property and additional parking very close if needed. There is also an enclosed dog park immediately in front of the house. Pauline, the host was also incredibly helpful and quick at responding to enquiries.

A minor negative, the lounge area would not comfortably accommodate the amount of people the house sleeps (7). A large U shape, or two L shape sofa might be more suitable for the space. However, there was plenty of space to sit on the floor and/or bring chairs from the dining table.

A lovely quiet house, good facilities nearby too.

Lovely little house very near to a wedding venue we were attending. Quiet location too. Bedrooms were lovely and check in and out was super easy. Not mentioned in the description but it was very near a small shopping parade which was super useful. Appreciated the biscuits - thank you. X

The parking space mentioned at the rear of the property was blocked by a big pile of rubbish and lots of wheelie bins. That said , there were plenty of other places to park on surrounding roads just a short walk away. Possibly another comfy chair in the lounge would be nice, for a place that sleeps seven, the small sofa’s weren’t quite big or comfortable enough and had to move a dining chair in.

Property is a little dated, could do with a lick of paint throughout, garden is overgrown and would be helpful to have a few more mugs and basic crockery in the kitchen.

Lovely house for a short stay with friends

We had a fantastic stay at Brome House. The rooms were all comfortable and the living room was a great social space. I really appreciated how quickly the owner responded to queries and how quickly they sorted a minor quibble (some crockery had gone missing from the property, but more was dropped over swiftly). There's a nice large park nearby with good play equipment (not that we needed it), and Crocodiles of the World was a lot of fun for a group of animal lovers.

The dining table only seated six. We ended up taking the stool from the vanity table in one of the bedrooms, but I'd recommend just putting another dining chair somewhere to be added if needed. It does fit - albeit a little awkwardly.

Poor range of glasses and mugs. No tea mugs, only coffee mugs. Glasses too tall to go into the dishwasher. Boiler kept cutting out.

Not great - could be a lovely property but no love given.

Beds were comfortable and linen and towels were clean. Asked for a highchair as one was listed and wasn't in the house and it was delivered a few hours later to the address.

Property wasn't very clean, very dusty and not well kept. Tie backs for curtains were just attached with a nail and that fell out when my son (1year) touched the tie back. The garden area was not pleasant and the cushions for outside furniture were soaking wet so could not sit outside. Kitchen not equipped for children, no plastic cups or plates. Arrival book states complimentary items, half of these were missing. Single room bed was missing a slat, when the end of the bed was sat in the end collapsed. Feel like I have paid a ridiculously high amount of money which the property just wasn't.

Comfortable and welcoming home from home

It was a comfortable house in a pretty quiet location. The owner provided some very generous and welcome food and drinks which we appreciated. A much higher standard of accommodation than we’ve had at other rental properties.

The heating didn’t quite make it to the top of the house and the floorboards were incredibly creaky. A washing up cloth or brush would have been helpful.
