Only stayed one night, the toilet seat was broke, shower had no pressure, trash in living room basket, crappy lamps, outside was a mess.A little update on the building and repairs inside would make a big difference.

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday in this lovely house. It was so well-equipped, we had everything we needed and more. The peaceful setting made for a truly relaxing break, and we really appreciated how clean everything was. The location was also ideal for discovering the beautiful island, stunning beaches, and the incredible Connemara National Park. We had some wonderful days out. Thank you!

The property was perfect for a getaway to the west coast. Great access to the wild Atlantic way and only a short drive to Clifden. You will need a car but it's a great quiet spot to access the beauty of West Galway

Tiny quirky cottage in Cleggan with a history. Established in mid 1800’s as coastguard station house. Charming village with great local seafood. Ferry to Innishboffin walking distance. Easy drive into Clifden for supplies if necessary. We loved our short stay here.

My family of seven, two adults and five children, had a very enjoyable stay at this cottage on the hill. You can eat outside in the semi fenced courtyard complete with picnic table and rambling roses. There's no ocean view from the home, but there are lovely views of rolling hills and sheep. We even saw a rainbow! The town is a block or so down the road, no sidewalk. The town is very small, but everyone we met was friendly and they've everything you need. There's a small grocery and the best fish n chips at LITTLE FISH! You can catch the ferry to the island or drive through Connemara National Park. Some of the most beautiful country I've ever seen. The lakes were mirrors to the mountains around them. We made some happy memories here.

This house was in a super position walking distance from Cleggan Pier and village. It was cosy and had all the things we needed as a family, including our dog which was a great bonus. We would definitely return again as it's a perfect base for exploring around spectacular Connemara.

We spent two nights in the Station House. The house was comfortable, warm and kept the wind out! The nearby beach - Selerna - is a little gem and great for swimming. Cleggan gives a sense of remoteness but is easily reached from Clifden or the road south from Westport. Recommended.

This property is outside of the lovely little town of Cleggan, where my mom is from. I spent my entire life enjoying summers at the house (living in NYC) that my grandparents built, which is a 10 min walk from here. There are gorgeous hikes, beaches, a sweet restaurant or two, pubs with music and a ferry to an island that is old and beautiful all walking from here., And a bus to Clifden. The house has a lovely historic feel with all the amenities one could want from a rental. (I was able to borrow a heavy rain jacket with a hood when I needed one.) We enjoyed the land and location, which are superb, but on the second week of our trip (family wedding in Westport) we all came down with Covid. The owner couldn't have been nicer, helping to juggle another booking so we could recover before leaving, and being mindful of proper cleaning protocols. She took care of us with the kindness and compassion of a friend. I think the place is great value and would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Beautiful house, extremely cosy, comfortable and tastefully decorated. Ideal location to explore Connemara. I really enjoyed having a beautiful beach about 5 minutes walk for the house.
I really enjoyed my Stay here and Niamh couldn’t have been more helpful and attentive.
I would definitely return.

I wanted a place that offered:
- character
- comfort
- walking access to a swimmable beach
- walking access to a store
- walking access to a pub that served good food
This house ticked all these boxes.
In addition the owner was super helpful in her communication.
There are a million small details when you are renting a holiday cottage. I think the owner thought of all of them!
I would definitely come back!

The perfect spot
The perfect spot
This lovely modernized old station house was perfect for our stay in County Galway. The shop and few pubs (with live music) were only a 5 minute walk (though walk carefully on the narrow shoulder!) and the larger town of Clifden a short 15 minute drive. We were welcomed with bread, jam, biscuits and milk, a treat we have never had in all our many HomeAway rentals. Everything was as described and a great size for our family of 6 with the room with 2 bunks ideal for our 4 kids. We explored Omey (10 minute drive dig for clams!), the SkyDrive (10 minute drive), as well as Ashford Castle (1.25 hrs). We drove by Kylemore (30 minutes) and Connemara (Same distance). All to say it’s a lovely secluded home base for your time. We did a guided hike with Sean O’Farrell - booked on our own but look him up. He even told us where to find fresh mussels and our kids had a blast! We can’t say enough great things about this spot!

Quintessential West of Ireland Experience
Quintessential West of Ireland Experience
The White House is ideally situated with views of the sea from the bedroom and the Twelve Bens in the distance, with pastures adjoining and a beach just a few minutes walk away. It's been modernized with nice features such as a Nest system, and having the Sonos to play my own tunes was also nice bonus. It serves as a good base to come home to each night if you plan to tour the Connemara region, or if you would like to get away from it all, cozy up at home and just soak up the surrounding nature. As others stated, the host is very responsive on the app should you have questions. Relax and enjoy!

Enjoyed our stay at property ID 6535057. The house was large and comfortable and ideal location for visiting surrounding areas. We enjoyed the hill-walking, the wonderful scenary and of course plenty of fresh air. We also had the odd swim in the sea. Verdict; water was quite cool.
Would suggest that opened packaged food in the kitchen drawers be cleared out prior to arrival of new guests. Also, the provision of a tv for childrens programmes. The u-tube facility is not suitable for young children!

Charming House and Wonderful Owner
Charming House and Wonderful Owner
Cozy semi-detached house in beautiful western Ireland. Well equipped and updated. Small washer and dryer are in an outbuilding next to the house. WiFi was great. Cleggan is a lovely and quiet small coastal village and was the perfect location for exploring the Connemara area. The home owner was very nice and communicative. She kindly left a welcome hamper with bread, etc. The house sits on a hill with a view of the countryside and the ocean in the distance. We stayed in 5 towns while on vacation in Ireland. The Cleggan/Clifden area for 4 nights was our favorite and we were sad to leave!

Nice cottage in Cleggan
Nice cottage in Cleggan
We arrived tired after a long drive to find a gift basket and a note on the table providing information and letting us know that the kitchen at Oliver's Pub just down the road would stay open late for us to get a bite to eat. Hazel at Oliver's welcomed us and made us feel at home. We were in constant contact with Niamh and she was very helpful. The cottage was very spacious and the amenities were very modern and if excellent shape. Everything you could need was there, including games for the family to play and kitchen supplies with spices, etc. Exploring the region was fantastic, from the desolation of Connemara (Bog Road) to the amazing views along the coast (Sky Loop Road, Dogs Beach, etc.). Kylemore Abbey was as amazing as advertised and the small towns in the area each had there own great pubs. Clifden is a short drive away with phenomenal restaurants and pubs with entertainment.

Modern, sunlit property on the rugged, western Irish coast
Modern, sunlit property on the rugged, western Irish coast
My husband and I first visited Ireland 18 years ago on our honeymoon, but wanted to bring our seven and five-year-old sons to visit this magical place again. We stayed eight days and nights in Niamh's cottage, and had a wonderful time. A few of the delights that made this place so special: Niamh's quick and friendly communication; the welcome basket that Hazel left for us (highly appreciated after a long flight and drive!); the onsite washing machine and dryer; the scenic five-minute walk to downtown Cleggan and the Inishbofin ferry; and the clean, modern home with reliable wireless internet that allowed us to cook meals, check emails from family and friends, and listen to streamed music every day. Words cannot express how beautiful this part of Ireland is, and coming home to a stress-free house every day after spending long hours exploring the nearby sights made the experience even better. We really enjoyed how close we were to gorgeous places like Kylemore Abbey and Killarey Harbour/ Leehaun/ Westport, but even longer drives to Galway City and Sligo were relatively pain-free. We hope to return to this house again, and look forward to connecting with Niamh and her neighbors again soon!

Lovely country cottage in a beautiful, sea-side setting with mountain views,
The White House in Cleggan is a perfect spot for a quiet get-away. The location is perfect--a short walk to a well-stocked shop and several pubs, a short drive to Connemara National Park, Roundstone, Sky Drive, Kylemore Abbey. The house itself is very charming with all the modern amenities one needs (well-equipped modern kitchen, washing machine, fabulous shower). The proprietor, Niamh, is very responsive and thoughtful. The welcome basket she leaves is a lovely touch that makes you feel you've arrived somewhere special. The house more than comfortably accommodated myself, my husband and two teenagers. The fresh sea air, the mountain views, the sweet cows that pasture just next-door--it's a magical place. We would love to come again!

Quaint, Beautiful, Charming.
Quaint, Beautiful, Charming.
The house has everything you need and more. The area is both charming and beautiful. And the the owner is exceptionally accommodating and thoughtful. Walk to the beaches she suggests they are spectacular and buy local sea food -- crabs a bargain and delicious and lobsters pricey but worth it. Interestingly, with all the grand sweeping beauty of the place I got hooked on the seemingly plain view out the two big glass back doors. I am not sure whether it was because I was so relaxed but I cherished it and imagined it something Monet might have captured. But come to this spot and find the little gem you like most about it -- possibilities are everywhere -- even in a simple back yard!

Beautiful home in a great town
Beautiful home in a great town
I stayed at the White House in Cleggan for three glorious days this June, and found the cottage to be a wonderful combination of history and modernity. Inside, the house is gorgeous, with a modern kitchen and a comfortable living room and dining room. The brochure I was sent before arrival gave me a good sense of what to expect in the house and in the town. The bedroom was just lovely and comfortable. The shower was divine (especially after two weeks of the electric-powered showers prevalent in rental houses in Ireland). There is a washing machine, but no dryer, so you would have to hang dry your clothes inside the house somehow or perhaps take them into Clifden or Cleggan to dry them. I am sure Niamh would be happy to help anyone figure that out. I had to email Niamh before and during my arrival, and every communication with her was a pleasure. She made sure a basket was left for me with bread, cheese, fruit and wine, and there was milk and orange juice in the refrigerator.
The house's location is wonderful, close to Clifden, Letterfrack, Kylemore Abbey, and Connemara National Park. It is also close to Rossadilask, a tiny gorgeous fishing town, Omey Island, Inishbofin and Ballyconneely. If you have the luck to have some sun, make sure and see the magnificent beaches there.
Cleggan itself is a small, pretty town with a good restaurant and pub. Clifden is a larger, more lively town, filled with restaurants, pubs, and lots of shops. The people I met in the area were friendly, gracious and shared information with me willingly. I was there during Connemara Bog Week, which is a great festival of music, art and guided tours of different parts of Connemara around Letterfrack.
If you have the time and inclination, I strongly suggest you arrange for a guided tour of Connemara, Omey Island, Clifden, or northern Co. Mayo with John O Halloran. His tour of Omey Island (an island you can only get to during low tide) was fascinating in his depth of knowledge of the historical, cultural and environmental richness of that one small spot in Connemara. His deep knowledge of the area will enhance your understanding of the beauty and depth of Connemara. (He has a FB page, if you want to find him). After the tour, I felt even luckier to be staying in a former Coast Guard Station house -- a piece of Cleggan's rich history.
When I return to Connemara, I will definitely be staying at the White House cottage again!

We have just returned from a most enjoyable holiday at the completely newly renovated White House, Cleggan that we now rate our favourite holiday destination. This house is warm, comfortable and with all the modern amenities we required to make a home from home. It is situated 5 minutes walking distance from the village where the kids had great fun in the play park before we embarked on a unique boat trip from Cleggan Pier to Inishbofin island. We also enjoyed the many local beaches situated just 10 minutes away.
This adds up to the White House being top of our list as we look forward to returning very soon. Thanks for helping to make this happen. Sean & Nuala....

Wonderful stay in great accomdation
We were overjoyed when we arrived at this charming property named The white house which overlooks the most beautiful setting.* The accomodation has been renovated to a very high standard and is clean, bright and contemporay but with a cosy feel. There is plenty of space and is very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with kitchen utensils and made it easy to prepare meals. The local town Clifden had a very good selection of supermarkets. Connemara itself has so much to do. We enjoyed walks, hired bikes, horse riding and drives taking in the scenery. The house is 5 min walk from the cleggan pier where you can get the ferry to inishbofin..a most see. We explored stunning beaches ..rossadilisk is only a 5 min drive or 15 by foot. This is one of many local beaches. The local restaurant Olivers was great for meals and craic. We loved being in a walking distance from the local..overall our stay was brilliant. Cant wait to come again to stay at this beautiful home. Many thanks to the owners for our stay and lovely welcome basket of treats . Lovely holiday.Darren and family

Perfect Cottage With Sea Views
Perfect Cottage With Sea Views
The cottage is light, beautifully decorated and in stunning surroundings. From the cottage there are beautiful sea views all around, there was plenty of space for the three of us and we were grateful for rain on our final day so that we could stay in to watch films and listen to music in front of the fire!
Cleggan itself is a picturesque fishing village, with fresh seafood served at Olivers and a few local pubs with music at weekends. Cleggan beach is really special - we were shown there by the village dog who came to meet us on arrival.
The lovely town of Clifden is a short drive away with charming local shops and pubs (book a taxi back in advance if you're planning to be out late!). The Conomara National Park and Sky Road are not to be missed, views from the top of the Diamond on a clear day are stunning. The drive from the airport was also incredibly beautiful and set the tone for the rest of our stay. Thoroughly recommended!

This lovely cottage exceeded our expectations. It was warm and cosy and a welcome place to come home to after a day out touring beautiful Connemara. In the evenings we had the option to stay in or stroll down to the little harbour for a meal and a chat with the friendly locals. The cottage itself has been tastefully modernised but has lost none of its charm. It has an airy feel throughout and every window surprises you with a delightful aspect of sea and mountain and the beautiful colours of Connemara.
