Sitting in the foothills of Croagh Patrick and overlooking Clew bay, Gortmore is a 3 bedroom detached bungalow with fabulous views in every direction. Completed in 1999 the bungalow is modern, well planned, bright, airy and spacious. Sitting on its own site it is not overlooked and has direct access to the main Westport-Loiusburgh road. The property is located in Murrisk village which is 6 kms from Westport, a town identified by the Irish Times in 2012 as "the best place to live in Ireland". Our guests have been families looking for safe friendly accommodation, active walkers, golfers, fishermen, cyclists, and artists as well as those simply looking for peace, tranquil views and relaxation.

We wanted a house with views of Ireland, close to Westport and other places we wanted to see. This was perfect. Mary is a great hostess. Throughout the rental process and while on site, she was readily responsive, informative and flexible. We loved the house! I love the floorplan. It worked so well for my husband, daughter and her two daughters. We love the area, with so much to see and do. What an amazing place to visit! The Mayo (and especially Westport) is a Gem. Mary's house is a perfect stay.

Lovely bungalow in splendid location with amazing views. Lovely area for a walk or run in the morning with lots of roads of the main road. Within walking distance of Croagh Patrick and whilst on the main road no noise or other impact of traffic. Would recommend as a base for travelling around

This is a lovely property with spectacular views from every window - we loved sitting in the living room watching the sunsets over Clew Bay. The cottage is 15mins walk from the start of the Croagh Patrick hike and 10mins from a lovely gastro pub. The cottage is well stocked and very comfortable, it set back from the road so it is very private and quiet.

All ok. However the property was shown as being west of the Tavern in Murrisk on the VRBO map and precise location was only visible on booking. House was fine and was well equipped. A faulty ensuite light/fan switch was reported.

Very comfortable, lots of room for everyone. Kitchen is well equipped and all the rooms are well furnished. Well located for nearby walks and access to nearby Westport. Loved the views of Croag Patrick at the back (when not covered in cloud!) and the bay at the front. I'd definitely book again as there are so many nearby places to visit we didn't manage to get to them all :)

This is our second time staying at Mary's lovely property in Gortmore. The house suited our needs perfectly. It is well stocked with basic essentials, very clean,spacious and has fabulous views of the beautiful surrounding area from every room. Check in was very straightforward. It provides the perfect base for exploring Westport and surrounding areas, and proximity to nearby beaches and walks is fabulous. We are already looking forward to our next visit. Míle Buíochas.

The house is clean and comfortable, with a nice kitchen and lovely views. The property manager checked in by text several times to make sure things were OK. You can walk to the Croagh Patrick trail which is a challenge but well worth the climb if you like to hike.

A truly wonderful property

We stayed a week but wished we could have stayed longer. Its a lovely property, with stunning views and is very peaceful yet it is only 10 minutes to the centre of Westport. Murrisk has a fabulous pub which is within a few minutes walk. The property is incredibly well stocked with everything you could possibly need and is very comfortably furnished and very clean. Mary was very helpful throughout. It is a house that we would like to come back to.

Every room in that property has special views. To front and side, the bay and the mountains beyond. The evening light is special. To the side and rear there are grass and broom covered hills towards the mountains. Perfect location, helped by an acclaimed gastropub not quarter of a mile away, (yum)and Westport town with great facilities including Lidl and Supervalu, 10 mins drive. There is also a filling station / shop about quarter of a mile away. Lovely fitted kitchen, huge fridge freezer, great oven, microwave , toaster and sandwich grill. Basics are provided food and toiletry wise as a starter pack. And the owner had a new well built as the local water is sometimes a bit odd, allegedly. The cold water supply to this property is glorious to drink and makes an excellent cup of tea. Communication with the owner was excellent throughout, and I thoroughly recommend

Perfect location for all the things we wanted to see and do in the area. The Achill Island drive is a must do. Lovely views from the property with beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The house was tidy and clean. Cooking was easy in the well equipped kitchen. We had an enjoyable visit. Mary was easy to work with and always available to help.

This is our second year to stay at this property. The house is a great size. We are a family of 5 and we comfortably stayed in Gortmore for 5 days and loved every second of it. With Croagh Patrick and sea views all around its hard not too. Its a short drive to numerous beaches and westport town. Mary Clark went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. We had a really lovely stay at Gortmore, the house was cosy, very well equipped and boasted fabulous views of Clew Bay and Croagh Patrick. A lovely location fir beaches, local walks and great proximity to Westport. Mary was lovely to deal with and we enjoyed our chats with Tom during the week. We would recommend this property without any hesitation, we had a great time.

My husband and I very much enjoyed our stay at Mary's home. The house was very clean, comfortable and well-equipped. The location is great for exploring this beautiful part of Ireland. I gave a 5 for accuracy of online listing, but the truth is the listing does not do justice to the views you have from this home. We checked in at night and in the morning were delightfully surprised when we opened the curtains to incredible views -- from every single window you are looking at either Clew Bay or Crough Patrick. We look forward to returning one day to Mary's lovely home!

My husband and I along with our 3 children stayed in Gortmore for 5 days and it was perfect. The location is fab, the house was spacious and clean and it was in close proximity to everything we were looking for. Mary was very friendly and helpful. This bungalow is exactly what we wanted and was exactly as advertised. It is in an ideal location on the main road from Westport to Louisburgh. Just under one mile to the Croagh Patrick visitor center and four miles to Westport. A breathtaking view of the Reek and of Clew Bay. The accommodations were perfect. Three spacious bedrooms and a very comfortable living room. The kitchen is modern and fully equipped. My family thought it was perfect. Tom, the caretaker, came by on our first day and made sure we were taken care of. Westport and County Mayo is the perfect place for a holiday. Be sure to visit Clew Bay Bike Hire in town and signup for a kayak tour of Clew Bay and a bike ride to Achill Island. Take the ferry to Clare Island for stunning scenery and an exhilarating bike ride or hike. And of course be sure to climb the Reek. We are looking forward to returning.

Fantastic property in an ideal location to explore county Mayo. We will hopefully be returning for a third time later this year. The house has everything you need for a holiday and there are stunning views from every window. The local gastro pub is within walking distance, as is the foot of Croagh Patrick. This lovely home has fantastic views over Clew Bay and is conveniently located for Westport and the coast of Mayo. The main bedroom, sitting room and kitchen were spacious and the house had been recently decorated. However, I would have given it 5 stars if it had been cleaner on our arrival which was an unexpected disappointment. The kitchen sink, fridge and counter tops were dirty and one of the twin room beds had animal hairs all over it, so we had to change the sheets ourselves plus there were dirty towels in the bathroom. It looked like the cleaner had left without finishing the job but once we had spent time cleaning it ourselves, it was a lovely place to stay!
