Authentic old hotel with a local feel

Hotel is very central and close to the causeway coming in to the town - for driving its actually simple but doesn't feel like it as the streets are narrow and quite a lot of people walking, but extremely close to the causeway when driving back out to park or when leaving. Staff directed us to the car park on other side of causeway and we drove back out there but decided it was too far for us and parked in the town park haus - expensive for 2 days 52 euro but really close to the hotel. Had a nice room on the 2nd floor - the stairs are quite steep! Very close to everything in the town once you get your bearings. Very good breakfast in the hotel restaurant - we didn't have dinner there but seems to be extremely popular - first night we saw people being turned away as they were full, so book if you want to eat there. Staff are nice but no hotel reception so check in and queries etc in restaurant. Lindau is lovely - easy to walk around island and a lot of cafes / restaurants

Stairs. Quite a bit of noise at night - but as most cafes / bars etc close relatively early unsure where people coming from. Hard to see hotel entrance when coming in at night - no lights in the small square

Quaint, traditional well run place with lovely staff

Very pretty place, very traditional in the look and feel, and nice it was family run. The food was excellent and my single room was very spacious with all the amenities I needed. Bed was a little firm but that’s just me

Excellent little Hotel

The hotel is in a great location in the old town. The room was spacious and everything was spotlessly clean. We had a meal on our first night and the food was excellent. Breakfast was great too with a good selection of rolls, cereals, eggs, yoghurts and fresh fruit. Very good coffee too. The staff were all friendly and helpful.

Exceptional

We stayed 3 nights and were treated to superb, professional customer service. Fabulous location in walking distance to key Lindau attractions but not in the main "tourist" area. The on-site restaurant is absolutely fabulous for dinner and the 'included' breakfast was just wonderful. We were driving a hire car - so parking was going to be a concern - but after dropping off our luggage in front of the hotel, the (very safe) public car park is only a 5 minute walk away. Rooms seem to have been recently refurbished and have plenty of space, with great amenities like safe and fridge. Overall couldn't fault it and would highly recommend it as a venue to stay.

Fantastic hotel that helped make our trip to Lindau Insel special!

The staff at Alte Post are friendly and attentive. Our room was comfortable and allowed us to relax. The food is great, both the breakfast and the meals at the restaurant. The Hotel is in a great location on the island and is within walking distance of the train station and harbour. It also has a bus stop right outside the front door.

It is difficult to fault Alte Post in any way at all and my wife and I will definitely be back.

Very good hotel in the isle

The position of the hotel is in the down town and close to the lake, very clean and confortable room. The hotel has a very good restaurant completelly full in the evening (advance booking is recommended) A public car parking is close to the hotel with very convenient rate for overnight stay.

The location was great - right in the downtown area in Lindau. The room was nice and comfortable, and had everything that I would have expected.

The woman who checked us in (I think it was the owner/manager) was actually pretty rude. She wanted to see all of my documentation immediately and wouldn't engage in a conversation or let me leave my bags to the side while I went to get it all. One of the mornings when I arrived for breakfast, she accused me of already having eaten breakfast. She singlehandedly really brought down the quality of the experience.
