A perfectly located, quiet island stay (even during German carnival) with a solid breakfast, but a frustrating check-in

The location on the island is excellent, and I arrived right in the middle of German carnival, which made the whole area feel lively and fun. Even with that energy outside, the hotel itself was very quiet, so I slept well, and breakfast was a great start to the day.

The downside was check-in, it was difficult and confusing. I had to make a phone call to figure out how to access my room, and it was hard to communicate because they didn’t speak English.

Well located, good and inexpensive hotel.

The hotel is conveniently located. Parking is at the "Inselhalle", right across the street. It's convenient, although the price is 20+ Euro per day. A good bed with good linens. There's a refrigerator in the room, and two good wine glasses, too. Special thanks for that! A decent and inexpensive breakfast.

For some reason, we had problems with Wi-Fi. Three of our devices worked fine (all in the kids' room), but three others (in our room) refused to connect – IP config error. I couldn't figure out what was going on. And it was a bit crowded at breakfast.

The room had dusty areas, no kettle! It’s the first time I’ve been in a hotel without a kettle. I hadn’t realised how comforting it is to have a cup of tea after a busy day of sightseeing!

Okay for one night, and just to sleep.

The rooms were clean and the location was good. I guess that is all one truly needs in a hotel but to be honest I was expecting so much more from what I saw in the listing.

I wish the photos showed a bit better what the rooms and the hotel in general looks like, rooms are TINY, and in one of our rooms wifi and tv didn't work, it was in the main floor. The room on the 3rd floor had the bathroom across the hall, not a lot but kinda strange to be honest. All in all it is fine if you just need a place to sleep for one night, but I would not stay for longer, and I would not recommend it to a friend or go back. During breakfast we saw someone from the staff, but we didn't even get asked how our stay was, if all was okay, I'm not sure if the unfriendliness is part of the culture but it felt like it was missing for sure.

The WORST Stay I have ever had.

The location was OK - a short walk to the old town and the waterfront. The local market just next door.

The property was junky, with cleaning supplies, kitchen stuff, everything left out. The “family-run business” was a couple in which the man was often yelling at the woman. She did check-in and often seemed confused. They were supposed to offer me the Bodensee Activity Card as I was staying there 3+ nights and they collected hotel tax for it. When I asked for it they seemed very frustrated and it took them over 1/2 hour to produce it. My room was on the 2nd floor and was sparse and tiny, which I can put up with. The bathroom was fine though room cleanliness was questionable at best. I found papers and trash from the previous guests. I have budget travelled a lot and have stayed in hostels, monasteries, hotels etc and am pretty forgiving but these people had no concept of presenting their accommodation in a pleasing manner. Piles of towels were in the hall together with mops, cleaning products and trash - ALL the time. After a sleepless night on a very soft bed, I wanted to check out but committed to staying to try to find the good. I had some work I needed to do and since my room was so small I thought I would sit in the dining area where breakfast was served. The He was in there and made it clear that, even though there were 10 tables, I was not welcome to be in there. Breakfast was adequate though I had to ask for food to be replenished, the plates were not clean and the coffee not hot. I applaud this couple for trying to run a business, but they have failed on so many levels. I understand that, generally speaking, Germans are not known for their customer service but this couple was beyond the norm. On my final day, after 4 days of greeting them when I came and went, and never asking for my room to be serviced, I asked if I could delay my checkout by 30 minutes as I was in the middle of booking my airline flights. He yelled and said check out time was 10:00 and I had to get out to make way for new people!

(1) the male owner was very rude to us. the female owner was helpful. (2) according to the info on Booking.com, they would support guests in car parking if reservation is sent during booking. We did, but the owner refused to help us. So it costed us a lot of time and money. (3) rooms are okay, but spiders and insects were found. (4) A lot of noise: It makes a lot of noise when people walk the stair and in the rooms and the hotel is next to a big road thus a lot of noise in early morning. (5) breakfast was worse than average.

Simple hotel for travellers, with the price you pay the vicinity to the lake.

Keys were available outside the front door as promised.

Bathroom was not heated up (although I later found a switch with "heating" handwritten on it. Breakfast was very simple, buffet. Room doors have to be closed manually with the key, if you forget this they are open to everyone.

We had to find another hotel. Hôtel owners were violent and brutal the following day when we asked full refund of €120 which they never paid back. Absolutely avoid this nightmarish dive.....!!! Seriously. Police laughed at us. Booking.com was useless 😪
