The resort is located 500m from the main road, so it's quiet. The pool was great. Nice cooling during daily heat. Breakfast was a buffet with lots of choice and extra eggs and bacon if you want it. Rooms and resort were very clean. Great care was taken of it. Staff was very nice, helpful and friendly. Especially the lady that managed the desk and restaurant. The food was delicious even for our non-spicy taste. Simple daily morning market with fish, meat, spices, fruits in 5-10 minutes walk. This resort is perfect as a base for doing tours.

Nice room and peaceful location, but shocked by the food hygiene

We stayed here for a short time and, to be fair, the room was very nice, the bed was extremely comfortable, and the bathroom was beautiful. The location is peaceful, and you can reach the center in just five minutes by car.

However, something happened that completely ruined the experience for us. While we were at the pool, we ordered some French fries. The staff laughed when we placed the order, and we didn’t understand why — until the food arrived. The fries were covered in tiny fried ants, as if they had been cooked together with them in the same oil. We sent the dish back immediately. The staff apologized and said they wouldn’t charge us, which is the bare minimum in such a situation. Serving food like that is extremely unsafe and completely unacceptable. Other than this incident, the stay was calm and pleasant, but the kitchen hygiene definitely needs serious improvement.

The best place to stay in Khaolak!

Khaolak Yama Resort is a tropical paradise, a little slice of heaven! We stayed in the two bedroom villa with a private pool for two weeks, and found the resort to be completely peaceful and relaxing. Bree and her team are wonderful, Bree welcomed us with open arms, and was very friendly, chatty and knowledgeable each day. She went above and beyond, even offering to buy foods that we couldn't find at the market. My mum was Thai, but unfortunately she passed away a few years earlier, and Bree really did step into that role and make us feel at home. Everything was clean (and then cleaned again daily) to perfection, we could find absolutely nothing wrong the resort. We used the laundry service, and received all our clothes cleaned, dried and folded the next day! Breakfast was excellent each day, eggs and bacon cooked freshly to request (scrambled/omelette/fried) and plenty of fresh fruit and pastries. There were also Thai dishes available which were rotated every day, so you could try something new. There were plenty of bikes to rent to get around on, but we mostly used the local taxi service recommended by Bree. This was extremely efficient (and budget friendly!), they could be contacted via WhatsApp and always showed up on time with a smile. It only took a few minutes to reach places like Bang Niang market. We have the best memories from staying here, and will definitely be back. You will not regret booking Khaolak Yama Resort, it'll be the highlight of your trip!

Really good value for money and great for family

We stayed in the 2 bedroom villa and had an extra bed added into the main room, it was Spacious. We like the fact there was a restaurant on site, the closest shops/ restaurants are a 10 mins walk away and in the dark may not be possible, yet taxi is easy to get

Bedrooms were very spacious and comfortable Surrounded by a lot of nature felt like I was in the jungle minus the snakes which is Exactly what I wanted! from my room I had the perfect view of palm trees and the full view of the pool was beautiful to wake up to and have my coffee on the balcony in the wonderful quiet setting ☺️

Yama resort is nestled in the jungly area away from the main streets. wake up to bird songs. the pool was great and the rooms are spacious and clean.

it’s a little far from the main areas, 5-6 drive to the action, and Taxis in Koh Lak are pricier than in other areas of Thailand for some reason. BUT you can rent scooters for 200 Baht/day st Yama and get around mostly anywhere on them. overall, a fair trade of peace and quiet for a little distance.

we stayed here second time, beautiful setting, tranquility and “jungle feeling “ are the reason why we want to come back again. You have everything what you need in the room, cleaning ladies are doing their job perfectly. Breakfast could be more varied, sometimes we missed basic things there, like fresh vegetable…no cheese, no ham, some pancakes or fried bananas would be nice sometimes ..it’s just suggestion, we were definitely not hungry, there was still something good to choose

it’s quite difficult to communicate with employees to manage things, only one lady ( who was in charge since breakfast to the night) tried to speak very basic English , it was sometimes a problem to explain her what you want…the other staff didn’t speak any foreign language. only the very last day I met the manager and asked him for booking taxi to the airport, the other days we used our hands and art talent for communication :))

A great, comfortable, stay

Great rooms, really good size and very comfortable. Hotel does hire motor bikes, which are really handy for getting around, as location is around 3km from the coastline. All beaches are easily reachable by bike, white sand, coconut, memories, etc. Staff are super efficient, would not hesitate to stay again if in Khao Lak.

Superb

The staff was very friendly, they cleaned the rooms on a daily basis. They were very helpful. The location is a little off the main road so you need a scooter which you can rent at the property for a fair price. The rooms are big and clean, AC is amazing and it is so quiet. We had the best sleep in a very long time. The roofs of the bungalows are I believe sheet iron and when it rains it keeps you awake haha.

The Wifi was very very bad. The speed was good but the connection was terrible. It was very unsteady, kicked you out, just stopped working and it did not matter which one you tried, they were all not very good. But cellphone coverage is good, so be sure you also buy a Thai Tourist Simcard just in case.

Petit déjeuner correct, piscine bien chaude, très bon restaurant pas loin de l’hôtel : Charm Thaï.

Douche très près des toilettes, pas pratique du tout ! Bord de la piscine carrelée tranchant, très dangereux ! Manque d’intimité en journée dans chambre à cause du vis à vis permanent avec la piscine.

Wir sind viel in Thailand rumgereist und hatten viele unterschiedliche Unterkünfte. Hier haben wir uns von der ersten Sekunde an wohlgefühlt. Das Zimmer wurde täglich gereinigt und frische Handtücher sowie Strandtücher gab es auch. Das Zimmer war gepflegt und schön eingerichtet. Auch die Poolanlage war toll. Das Frühstück war super! Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder. Man sollte aber auf jeden Fall mit einem Roller dort sein.

Très bel établissement, propre, accueillant et bien situé, avec un excellent service et de belles installations.

Très bel endroit, d’une propreté irréprochable. Le personnel est vraiment sympathique. La piscine est propre, bien située et offre beaucoup de transats. Notre chambre était impeccable, avec un joli balcon donnant sur la piscine. Le petit déjeuner propose une belle variété. J’y retournerais sans hésiter !

La salle de bain était un peu sombre et de petite dimension. La douche était uniquement de type pluie, sans possibilité de diriger le jet, et sans rideau ni porte, ce qui faisait en sorte que la salle de bain se retrouvait entièrement mouillée après la douche. Cela dit, rien de majeur et ça n’a pas affecté notre appréciation globale du séjour!!
