Location on a very busy road,how noisy it was. Got no sleep. Temperature in room cool, temperature in shower room arctic. Bedroom door not particularly secure. Breakfast was very basic. Decor very dated, furniture old and not in good upkeep.

Carlisle Stay

Great hotel in a central location and within walking distance of the city centre. Bed was exceptionally comfy and the room was clean and tidy upon arrival. The reception area was very welcoming as was the host.

The breakfast was a little underwhelming and didn't match my expectations. But the setting was nice and wouldn't deter me from staying again.

Great location. Clean and tidy and the staff were very friendly Great cooked breakfast and on site parking at no extra cost

You now have to pay for a cooked breakfast. It appeared from photos and description that this was included in the price; however it was only £5 so I didn’t mind paying I had room 1 which was a family room. I did find it a little cold and as it was on the main road a bit noisy. The radiator was piping hot but too small to heat a room of that size. I would invest in curtains rather than just the blinds in order to keep the heat in.

Clean; lovely room; warm welcome.

The traffic was very loud in my room situated at the front. Granted the traffic is not the hotel’s fault (!) but it was as if the window was open. This is the only negative of an otherwise comfortable stay.

Very good.

The room was great for me, absolutely spotlessly clean. The bed was very comfortable. Proprietor was very helpful & allowed me to leave my suitcase there to pick up later. ( I was walking Hadrians wall walk) Enjoyed my stay there & would stay again.

Breakfast was fine for me, but could of had more choices for continental breakfast.

Little gem of a hotel - really handy location, Edwardian building with original features but very modern facilities, spacious, had a fortune spent on it, you can tell. Nice manager, v. helpful.

Nothing to dislike. My room was a small single but still en-suite: I knew that when I booked & I was only there one night on a walking trip. Comfortable and everything works.

There were sachets of shampoo but no soap to wash your hands.. For the price we paid I would expect a little soap as it cost so little. The owner did produce it when asked

Very uncomfortable disappointing

The room was neat and clean

The bed matrass had previously collapsed and they had tried to correct this with a second thinner matrass. That didn't work and we kept on sliding into the centre of the bed. Very uncomfortable. Secondly the window was of such a poor fit that the noise reduction was zero. the combination of these meant that we did not get a nights sleep. This was important as we had a long way to drive the following day and we are both in our late sixties. It was advertised as B&B but then they wanted to charge for a cooked breakfast?

A good place to stay, especially if on bicycle where the soft bed and road noise won’t matter!

Good location, good price, secure cycle storage, large room, working shower, good breakfast

For me beds were too soft but others would like it. You cannot please all! Noise from road is noticeable but that comes with the location. If your light sleeper bring earplugs! Neither of these affected my rating or sleep after a full day riding.

My room was spacious and the bed was extremely comfortable. Everywhere was impeccably clean and my hosts were most welcoming and attentive. The room was a little noisy but you expect that for somewhere so close to the centre.

My room was a little chilly in the evening as the warm day gave way to very cool night time.

The host was really nice and my single room was cosy and the breakfast was good.

The single room I stayed in was under the stairs, which means you hear people going up and down the stairs. The window also didn't have a great seal so the road noise was hard to ignore.

The property was not far from the centre and had everything you would want for the price. Breakfast was ok, i did not have the cooked breakfast but the scrambled egg was ok.

It would be nice if the staff took some interest in their customers and not leave as soon as you have checked in and disappear as soon as they have done breakfast. It seems they did not want to know about guests and made every effort to be invisible.
