Fabulous old country house hotel. Everything was first class. Food at both breakfast and evening meal was lovely, lounges very clean, cosy and warm with log fires, bedroom was clean and bed very comfortable. Staff very friendly and engaging but not interfering. Couldn’t fault a thing!

A fantastic old building with a great group of staff location is superb. An amazing quiet stay in luxury period surroundings
Our bed was quite hard-although I was told these are due to be upgraded and replaced shortly

Very clean and comfortable, friendly staff.
Location slightly out of town you need a car or taxi. Walking is possible but it’s a long walk and uphill coming back.

Beautiful location, property well-maintained, outstanding staff & service - nothing was too much trouble, words I rarely use to describe a hospitality experience, but true here every day. We all enjoyed our visits - myself, and the family & friends who joined me at this Storrs base. This is truly a hidden gem, and a rare find.

Loved the quiet location, it is immaculately clean. The decor is beautiful, as are the gardens. The lounge areas are cosy and comfortable, nothing is too much trouble. We loved it and would 100% stay here again. It was so calm and peaceful and it felt like a home from home.
Literally my only quibble would be that as we were in the downstairs room you can hear noise from the entrance way. It didn’t bother us at night as the bar area and music stops at 10:30 which I think is an acceptable time, but you can hear people coming to look at the lounge area which is right next to the room, so you can hear people by your door. I was hoping for a lie-in in the morning but at 7:30am you can hear them setting up for opening. I thought a doorway before the room door might be a good idea, to create a vestibule.

Friendly staff, top-notch food, and lovely grounds made this a highlight of our family trip (2 teens + parents) to the UK. Serene escape from the bustle of Windermere. Make sure to book for dinner then watch sunset over the hills from the terrace!

All the staff were very friendly, Ashley and Jade went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. Check-in was quick and the room was well appointed and immaculately clean, with the room being cleaned and beds made wonderfully every day. Breakfast was great, quickly served and with plenty of choice. The location was good with a short 20 minute walk into Bowness helpfully suggested by Ashley. The grounds were beautiful and the view from the breakfast room and our hotel room were incredible. Would stay here again.

It was simply wonderful and we would come back anytime.
It was 30 degrees at the time and we had a beautiful room under the roof with a view of the lake. The only downside was that it didn't have air conditioning and was therefore very warm.

The food was very good and the location very pleasant
Our room was very dated and not a pleasant place to sleep. We didn’t feel it was as clean as it could have been and maybe this was because all the furniture was very old!

Beautiful manor house with lovely garden setting. The included breakfast offered many choices and everything was very well prepared. Dinner was not included in the room price but was available by reservation and was excellent. There were two large living rooms with comfortable seating. On a rainy, cool day there was a fire in the large hearth. Staff was very accommodating and pleasant.
My room was quite warm. The windows were open but with no screens there were some midges (black flies.) The shower tray is dangerously slippery and needs a mat or decals to prevent falls.

Luxury Country Manor house with modern decor & facilities. Beautiful view & gardens. The location was good close to town but not in the busy tourist strip.
The restaurant was superb.
Just a suggestion. Staff didnt seem to know the best way to access local attractions eg. Ferry

Beautiful scenic location, historical house, easy to get to and very welcoming and helpful staff. Tasty and high quality food. Very comfortable beds and thoughtful touches such as fresh cookies every day.
Rooms are a bit dated and no digital TV - for a five star still should be a must in this day and age. No minibar. Limited menu choices and not a lot of flexibility - need to book for dinner ahead. Small things missed for example replacing bath mat and milk, these small details are expected not to be missed from a 5 star. Felt 4 and a half star at best!
