X.mas stay at the castle

The people who ran the hotel were great. The first night I was cold and asked for a blanket, which I got got for the remainder of our stay. I was warm from then on. Breakfast was good and was well cooked. Not to far from Varmouth. You could walk or drive.

They only has Carlsberg on tap, but I made do with bottled beer which I liked

Tyr Graig Castle was a beautiful little find. Trudy the owner was an amazing host, very friendly and accommodating and Mike makes an amazing breakfast. Our room was in a Turret with a gorgeous view, it was clean and tidy. We will definitely be back as the building alone was beautiful, It was old and had lots of character, and very well kept. But Trudy and Mike made us feel most welcome in their home.

Breakfast was really good. The Castle is beautiful and full of character. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Being an 83 year old with touch of arthritis I found the climb up the rather steep stairs a bit of a problem. Fortunately I had my son with me ton carry my case, which I would not have managed on my own. The shower room was very small but as we only stayed one night this was not too much of a problem.

Beautiful castle full of character in a great location 👌 The staff were very friendly! Amazing views over Barmouth Bay! Good food but a little pricey.

The room was quite cold and the heating would come on and off at random times. The radiators have smart TRVs and are controlled by the management. For the price we paid £130 for 1 night, I think we should have been able to control the heating even if it was slightly restricted. Also, there are cameras everywhere which made us feel uncomfortable we counted at least 5 in the dining room and made us question why?

an unexpected gem

A great and unexpected stop on our trip around Wales. Barmouth is a gem and Tyr Graig Castle only added to it. It's a 15 minute walk from the bustling town centre. A town which we think we need to visit again! The hotel itself was comfortable and the staff were welcoming and very friendly. Not to mention the stunning sea view from our balcony. I think we only scratched the surface of Barmouth and intend to visit again, and when we do I'm certain this is where we'll stay.

Superb uninterrupted view of the sea from our room, which was turret shaped! Very nice breakfast which consisted of cereals, fruit and cooked. Great authentic castle accommodation, very enjoyable

My only concern was the two rooms we booked had a shower over the bath which I hadn't realised and I had difficulty getting into due to having very bad knees . But I didn't read the information properly so do check .... they do have rooms with shower closure but they were booked

Toilet/bathroom could be bigger (its an old building though) Would be nice to have bottled water in the room,not sure if you can drink the water from the bathroom. The cooked breakfast was really nice,maybe few more options on the cooked side ? As most have said the stairs are a bit awkward especially with the 2 sets of doors you have to go through if your room is at the top,again its an old building with limited options 😉 (wouldn't say this is a major negative) Even with the above points the stay was excellent and we will be coming back 🙂
