Breakfast was really good. The Castle is beautiful and full of character. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Being an 83 year old with touch of arthritis I found the climb up the rather steep stairs a bit of a problem. Fortunately I had my son with me ton carry my case, which I would not have managed on my own. The shower room was very small but as we only stayed one night this was not too much of a problem.

Beautiful castle full of character in a great location 👌 The staff were very friendly! Amazing views over Barmouth Bay! Good food but a little pricey.

The room was quite cold and the heating would come on and off at random times. The radiators have smart TRVs and are controlled by the management. For the price we paid £130 for 1 night, I think we should have been able to control the heating even if it was slightly restricted. Also, there are cameras everywhere which made us feel uncomfortable we counted at least 5 in the dining room and made us question why?

an unexpected gem

A great and unexpected stop on our trip around Wales. Barmouth is a gem and Tyr Graig Castle only added to it. It's a 15 minute walk from the bustling town centre. A town which we think we need to visit again! The hotel itself was comfortable and the staff were welcoming and very friendly. Not to mention the stunning sea view from our balcony. I think we only scratched the surface of Barmouth and intend to visit again, and when we do I'm certain this is where we'll stay.

Superb uninterrupted view of the sea from our room, which was turret shaped! Very nice breakfast which consisted of cereals, fruit and cooked. Great authentic castle accommodation, very enjoyable

The location is stunning the owners and staff very friendly felt welcome it's a beautiful old building with tons of character

My only concern was the two rooms we booked had a shower over the bath which I hadn't realised and I had difficulty getting into due to having very bad knees . But I didn't read the information properly so do check .... they do have rooms with shower closure but they were booked

Excellent views,the owners/staff really friendly, the breakfast was nice. The bedroom was clean and tidy.

Toilet/bathroom could be bigger (its an old building though) Would be nice to have bottled water in the room,not sure if you can drink the water from the bathroom. The cooked breakfast was really nice,maybe few more options on the cooked side ? As most have said the stairs are a bit awkward especially with the 2 sets of doors you have to go through if your room is at the top,again its an old building with limited options 😉 (wouldn't say this is a major negative) Even with the above points the stay was excellent and we will be coming back 🙂

Nestled just a short 15-minute stroll from the heart of Barmouth, the location was perfect—close enough to enjoy the town’s charming shops, cafés, and restaurants, yet peaceful enough to feel like a true retreat. The castle itself was full of character and history, offering a unique and cosy atmosphere that made our visit to Snowdonia even more memorable. It served as an ideal base for exploring the stunning surrounding landscapes, and we couldn’t have asked for a better spot to unwind after our adventures. Highly recommended!

The location was amazing. I cant believe we have never stayed here before. We have been going to barmouth for years and passed the castle hundreds of times. It felt like home. The food was great and we can't wait to return.
