Great location, shame about the rest of it

Great location

Only one toilet roll for four people. Apartment was not clean enough, dishes were not cleaned properly, only one towel per person (no hand towels), way too overpriced.

Great accommodation nearby Gare!

The apartment is very spacious! Facilities inside the apartment are well-equipped, such as washing machine, stove, kitchen equipment, small fridge (frozen part is not really useable), and basic cooking seasoning (salt, sugar, oil, pepper). Staircase is narrow for many foreigners, but I understand this is the standard for old building in France. Nevertheless, the staircase is not as dangerous as what I have experienced before. Great stay as it is located near very good local butchers to fill my belly happily with good products ❤️

The noise outside can be too much with fast food restaurant below open until 1am+, especially during the time when it's slightly hot and we would like to open the windows to cool down the apartment. A lot of mosquitoes too 😭 get your mosquito repellent ready!

Good location. Clean (ISH) apartment. View of the cathedral was beautiful at night. Great spot for watching the city at night. Good shower.

Bathroom (toilet) could have been cleaner. No spare toilet roll- it ran out the first night we were here. Constant banging from the upstairs apartment from 12.30-4am so we struggled to sleep. The stairway could do with a bit of love and a clean.

Nice apartment inside but lots of limitations detract from the experience

The apartment (Le Petit Desire) is quite spacious. Good size bedroom, living room and bathroom. Simple but sufficient furnishings. Lots of natural light. Close to the train and a short walk to the historic areas. But there are many downsides. Wifi didn’t work during our stay despite promises to get it fixed and allegedly a choice of several networks. Door code was unreliable and if it doesn’t open first time there is a reset that doesn’t work and in fact locks you out for an indeterminate period of time. A key was provided but only after I complained forcefully. Would not have been able to get into the apartment on arrival at all except that a staff member just happened to be on site at the time. There is no on-site staffing. Booking confirmation says the door codes will be provided the day before. Nothing came, I sent an email through booking.com that night and eventually the info arrived around 9am next morning. Not satisfactory if you are travelling to Lille without email/wifi access while in transit.

As noted, wifi didn't work and access code was unreliable. Exterior signage is minimal. I didn’t have trouble finding it but only because I’d read previous reviews and looked at google views. Entrance way and stairs are very run down and smell of mould. The business owns all the apartments so I assume owns the building and could do something about the state of the common areas. Be aware there are no ground floor apartments - all are at least one floor up the original (?) spiral stairs. Not a problem for us but if you have heavy luggage or mobility issues this place is unsuitable. There is no lift and there are no on-site staff. The booking confirmation email says there are luggage lockers on the first floor for ‘cabin size’ bags for €1 if you arrive before check in. We didn’t use them but if you plan to, be aware that these are in a corridor, have a clear perspex front so anyone walking past can see the contents and clearly aren’t very secure as some have been broken already. Also, they are more like ‘handbag size’. No way would they fit a standard carry on case.

Difficult to find had almost given up as it was round a corner of the street, had to ask a local person who knew the place; number and location not obvious. Fortunately I speak French. Inside well equipped, lovely large apartment, well fitted out, beautiful wooden floors, beginning to look a little worn as it is clearly popular. Reasonable location great open view over church. The stairs are typical of an old house steep twisting and narrow but the flat had been well renovated.

Pleasant

The apartment itself was mainly modern and the central location near the station was convenient.

The soundproofing was not good. My neighbour was singing until midnight, which could be heard through the walls and door. This wasn't very pleasant. The building entrance was difficult to find, and the stairwell was quite dingy. The bathroom was spacious, but the shower had significant mould, which was unpleasant. Wouldnt stay again.

Clean apartment, well decorated, modern and comfortable. On the whole had a nice stopover before our train back to London the following morning.

There were people walking around the building at 3am who tried to enter our apartment. Maybe by mistake, but as there was a sign by the door with the apartment’s name I’m not sure. I think a better locking system for the front door of the building would help.

Very good if not for the mosquitos

The hotel is very well located. It's very easy to access the location with the digi-code. The apartment is very big and comfy for the location. The living room is really nice you need to have a guest over. The apartment has all you will need to live for over a week there, a washing machine, iron, kitchen, and utensils.

We had huge mosquitos in the bedroom and were bitten all night. The stairs are small and no elevators so it's quite complicated to bring the suitcases up to the apartment. It's a small and enclosed bathroom so it's hard to get it dry.

the property was very run down and needed a good clean. on arrival we noted that curtains were missing from main bedroom (noticed owner by email and nothing happened but when called they fixed it immediately) however…also needs fixing…bed, bathroom tap, soap dispenser, mould in shower all walls needed cleaning, floor was filthy and we had to wash all saucepans before we could use them

Washing machine didn’t work, toilet door didn’t lock. Apartment hasn’t been cleaned for a while, old food in the ice box. Floor was dirty. No response to message about washing machine. Very noisy area.

There were dead flies everywhere on the ceiling. Furthermore, the cleanliness of the apartment left questions. Plates were not clean and the bathroom could have been cleaner as well. This was disappointing.

Disappointing as we had used Flandres appartements year’s previously .

it was central

the first place on arrival was grossly misrepresented. one small room with a double bed and a worktop with sink and oven at the end ,under the eaves reachable by a very dodgy narrow stairwell with wobbly and unsafe bannister,on the wall along the way plugs almost hanging off the wall. To be fair Laurent was helpful in trying to find another place but couldn’t accommodate the availability for the length of our stay.We accepted his offer which was at least could be described as a flat. We still had the same stairs situation (could someone check the evacuation scenario in case of fire!). The flat itself was very tired too ,broken wardrobe ,a washing machine inaccessible because of the way in was installed behind sliding doors and few other things along the way. By then we had already lost a day of our stay so we agreed to stay the night and sorting it out the next day. Another accommodation (the third!) was found down the road. In a little alley with work going on just outside(hammer drill excavating,digging as well as piles of detritus front of the door complete with drunks lying at night in the entrance.. we had to cut our cost as obviously we couldn’t get back our money .At least this one was spacious if not gloomy.Ironically, just as we were going to bed later that night we discovered a hole in the wall with a plug hanging from it .YOU COULDN ‘T MAKE IT UP!

Dirty, broken, misleading, disappointing, to avoid and forget... Terrible management, careless...

Location was good but noisy being in the centre. Some interesting characters in the area. Rest was very basic and in terrible conditions. Some disgusting surfaces, worried to touch or sit on. Not much to recommend, poor, poor, poor...

Disgusting places. Not cleaned properly - marks, smashed insects, yellow stains... Can't list it all! BAthroom stinks like fags... The staff completely ignored us as we complaint as the place led us to have allergic reactions on top of other issues... Booking not too bothered either... Not recommended at all. Pictures misleading, cost too high and staff is useless... Avoid and avoid again!!!
