The Originals Boutique, Hôtel Le George , Loches

Perfect location on the bank of a quiet river in the heart of this attractive and historic town. There is even a dedicated space in the street by the front door for unloading your car, before parking in the extensive free public car park among the trees and grass on the other side of the river. On a stifling hot day with temperatures in the thirties the air conditioning was very welcome as was the rather quirky lift, itself an unusual bonus in an old building. The restaurant overlooking the river was very attractive and well laid-out, and breakfast was pretty good even though they ran out of croissants (when the hotel was far from full). The staff were welcoming and helpful, especially in the morning. Once back in the UK we found that my wife had left a small bracelet in our room; the hotel immediately replied to our query and confirmed that the bracelet had been found and was being held for us. We have just booked another stay!

Our room in the attic was on the small side, although the bathroom was a good size and well thought-out. The menu at dinner was a little pretentious and over-ambitious, with the food not really living up to its promise (I had the one of the toughest steaks I have ever eaten).

beautiful hotel/ room sympathetically renovated. Staff gave friendly welcome. Unexpected amazing view of the river at breakfast. Good choice of food for me and my husband with a gluten free table separate. We would stay again or recommend to others.

Unfortunately the lift wasn't working and the stone spiral staircase was beautiful but not functional with our large feet or to serve a disabled or elderly client.

We arrived on a Sunday afternoon to find NO food or drink available for the rest of the day this is not helpful after a long days drive.
