Shaftesbury Hotel Dundee

We loved the large comfortable room, the super friendly staff. The morning breakfast was terrific and delicious. Would absolutely stay here again

Juveria was extremely helpful, and her husband made lovely breakfast for us.

Loved everything

Staff were friendly and there was complimentary biscuits and a small tub of Pringles in the room. The bed was comfortable, the duvet was warm and I slept well. Breakfast was fine. There's no dedicated hotel parking but the surrounding residential streets seem to have plenty of free parking. It's only about 30-45 mins walk to Dundee centre. Wi-fi worked well.

The hot water for the shower had to be run for about 5 mins before the water warmed up. The sink tap didn't seem to produce hot water regardless but I was more interested in the shower so didn't persevere. The central heating radiator in the room didn't work but the one in the en-suite did so that provided some heating. There was an electric radiator in the room which didn't work. The window is permanently open by a couple of inches at the top, possibly to help any steam dissipate from the shower area (there's no door, just a curtain). The TV remote was well past its best and missing buttons. Breakfast was scheduled from 07:30 but no-one arrived and started setting-up until 5-10mins later. The hotel could do with redecoration as it's very dated. This doesn't come across in the photos. Even updating the understairs cupboard 'reception' would make a much better impression. Overall, I got the feeling this was being run as a side-project.
