Lovely charming French hotel in the heart of Chauvigny

The hotel is in a great location with parking to the rear (although if that is full there is more free parking very close by). The hotel is charming and the staff were very friendly. We ate at the hotel and the set menu was very good in terms of value / quality of the food (nice house wine at very reasonable price).

It does look a little run down in certain areas - but nothing to detract from our stay.

It was ok.

After we’d asked to be moved from the most uncomfortable bed we’ve ever tried to sleep on it was ok. The receptionist was lovely,

The bed in our first room was awful. Plus the air conditioning outside the window (not in the room!) kept coming on and off all night and was very noisy. Neither one of us managed to sleep at all so we asked to be moved to a bed where we could sleep. This was done albeit grumpily by the housekeeper. But we were disappointed that we were charged extra for a room with a bed you could sleep in. I’d assumed that it was the bare minimum requirement in a hotel room and not something you are charged extra for. I have noticed that there are other complaints about the beds so that hotel really should address this

Perfect location to discover old Chauvigny

One night stopover on our journey. Perfect location in the middle of the town. Short walk to discover the old medieval city. Our room was in the annex where we parked outside. The restaurant is rated highly, although we did have trouble finding an alternative, but pleased to say it didn’t disappoint.

Clean and convenient night stop.

Stayed here with a group of motorcycle friends. We were made welcome from the start, shown the secure car park and asked if we required dinner, which we didn’t. The hotel is well located, clean and well equipped. Breakfast was good. Would stay again.

Private parking. Close to the old town. Friendly receptionist who would speak English if we wanted her to - we chose to speak in french and she spoke slowly so we could understand.

A bit worn in places, main bedroom door didn’t shut very easily, bathroom door damaged. Carpet needs replacing.

A good place to stay whilst visiting this charming old town.

The room was clean and comfortable, with a nice en-suite shower room. Dinner was superb. Parking was secure, and free. The hotel was well situated in the centre of town, and within easy walking distance of the historic medieval area.

It was difficult to leave at night, since the doors to the reception area were locked.

Disappointing

We had asked for a twin room and were initially given a double, but the lady on reception was happy to make the change for us. The rooms were clean and tidy and nicely decorated. We were also lucky and got one of the few parking spaces in the hotel courtyard.

There was no air conditioning and we were staying during a heatwave. This led to a very hot and uncomfortable night's sleep. We were in what was called the 'annex' on the ground floor and it was noisy. The lady on reception told us there was no air conditioning in the hotel and yet there was a unit on the wall opposite our window which was very noisy during the night. Breakfast was very limited and frankly over priced for what was on offer. We were charged 78.80€ for the room and are wondering why that was when there was a card at the front of the hotel stating that double and twin rooms were 68€?

The room was nice and clean. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was really good and clean. The windows were able to open which was nice. The restaurant was really excellent. The staff were all friendly, attentive, and genuinely caring. This is a great little town to visit and this comfy little hotel is an added bonus.

Nettes einfaches Hotel in zentraler Lage für Radreisende jedoch nicht zu empfehlen.

Zentrale Lage und trotzdem ruhig. Betten waren sehr gut.

Ich hatte explizit nach einem sicheren Abstellplatz für mein Fahrrad gefragt und musste es dann doch draußen auf dem PKW Parkplatz abstellen. Ich bin mit dem Fahrrad angereist und war wegen Regen pitsch nass. Im Zimmer funktionierten aber weder die Heizung noch der Handtuchwärmer im Bad so dass ich mein Sachen nicht trocknen konnte.

Grande chambre dans le bâtiment d’extension de l’hôtel, propre mais aucun charme, des couleurs tristounettes, aucune décoration, située en rez-de-chaussée impossible de baisser les volets pour dormir fenêtres ouvertes car les barres pour les dérouler ont été enlevées, odeur nauséabonde de viande/poisson en décomposition dans la cour pour se rendre dans la partie ancienne de l’hôtel où on prend le petit-déjeuner et les repas… guère appétissant !!! Pour les points positifs la literie est confortable et c’est calme. Petit parking de 8 places pour plus de 20 chambres, premiers arrivés premiers servis sans possibilité de réservation. Place publique à proximité.

Si on mange très bien au restaurant, dommage que les serveuses n’aient pas le sourire… et limitent le service au strict minimum. l’amabilité est un atout majeur pour faire d’un excellent repas un moment inoubliable.
