The location was the best part of the hotel
Very basic amenities

Excellent view on the lake.
The hotel exudes an old-world grandeur, yet the worn furniture reveals its age. The interiors and furniture are worn and damaged and the musty smell makes the experience quite uncomfortable.

The views across the lake were stunning. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Heating was excellent in the middle of winter. Staff were lovely and breakfast was varied and plentiful. The location is excellent. A very short walk to the 201 bus which takes you directly into the town centre and the train station.
The rooms are a little tired, but it’s purely cosmetic and don’t detract from an excellent stat.

Great view of lake and mountains, friendly and helpful staff. Very good breakfast with different options everyday.
Property is very outdated, and missing more decorative items in the room to feel more at home. Also missing a comfy sofa in the deluxe bedroom

Location is fantastic, the view of the lake is amazing. Pool was good.
Glory time has passed, missed the headboard of the bed, no water boiler for a tea in the room, old elevators and connected buildings, breakfast was nothing special

dated fixtures

Wow - what a view of the lake and the mountains from the balcony! The hotel is a little dates with the décor and is shabby in places but this adds to the overall charm. We had a new carpet in our room so it felt lovely and clean, the bed was super comfy and the bathroom was very good.
Breakfast was continental and ok, and all the employees were very helpful and polite.
We would stay again.

The view is amaaaazing. Get the one with a balcony.
The room size is quite nice.
I liked the location of the hotel.
Since the train is just beside the hotel but there was no noise at all!
There is no heater in the room unless you ask.
It's quite difficult to find a spot for your car.
The breakfast buffet has not many options, but the view was awesome.
The bed wasn't so comfy, but it's ok.

Big, spacious room, amazing view of the lake as booked. Staff were very helpful and were able to help straight away when we asked for towels and then on another occasion for additional pillows.
The room was a bit dated, there was a stain on the carpet (looked like blood). I thought that in a hotel of that standard the room should have had tea & coffee making facilities.
A shame that there was no bar/cafe available in the evenings.
Lovely bathroom but very low showerhead, so not easy when washing hair

The weather was rainy, but okay

View and location are amazing! I also liked the sauna and swimming pool
the light in the room was poor

Nothing, other than the location.
The hotel gave off a suspicious vibe, and unfortunately, the overall experience was very disappointing. The rooms and hallways had unpleasant smells, and the mattress had visible stains, which made the stay uncomfortable. For such a large hotel, there was also a noticeable lack of staff, and the service felt inadequate. Overall, it was a very strange and unpleasant experience.

We loved sitting out on the balcony enjoying the view of the lake at sunset with a wine and cheese. The room was very spacious. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom had a shower over the bath. It must’ve been renovated recently because it was excellent with lots of room for your toiletries. Good pressure in the shower and all that you could want for. There was a tiny fridge in the room.
The carpet although clean, was very thin and really needs renewing, it looks like about 60 years old…..it really lets down the property. Once you see past this, you realise the property is actually very good.

only the location.
I had a very disappointing experience. I booked a junior suite advertised with a lake view, but instead received a “suite” on the ground floor (-3) with no view at all. The room smelled strongly of chemicals, the furniture was stained, and both the room and the hotel felt outdated and poorly maintained.
When I raised these concerns at the front desk, my complaint was initially dismissed until staff came to see the room themselves. Since no other suites were available, I was moved to a standard room, which at least did not smell. However, despite the downgrade and inconvenience, the hotel refused to offer any price reduction.
Overall, the stay was extremely underwhelming. The hotel does not live up to its description, and the price/performance ratio is far from justified. Unfortunately, I would not return.

This is our 2nd visit to the hotel as we loved the view of the lake from our balcony. Very clean, quiet and comfortable hotel with excellent breakfast. Pleasant, helpful staff. Charming old world atmosphere. Hope to return again.
A kettle in the room would be a nice addition, but knew beforehand this is not provided.

The view from the balcony is magnificent. The price you pay is for the view on the lac and mountains. Indeed speechless! Magic!
1. Breakfast for 18 franc and 4 star hotel is very very poor variety, coffee taste like instant coffee. The main guy manager in the restaurant always look tensed and unhappy.
2. Hotel for sure needs renovation, balcony, rooms, corridors everything is tired. But clean I have to say. Very clean.

The property is centrally located and right on the lake .
The room they gave us was stinking so bad! The carpets were old and stale, the gave us the suite which opens up to the balcony but the room were so average, there was nothing great about it and after sometime of us checking in, the bathroom started smelling so bad that we couldn’t stay inside. Since most of the time, we were out sight seeing and not in room, we were able to survive in this hotel room. When during checkout I mentioned about how bad the room was stinking, the person said they are aware and I asked “why did the offer the room” so the answer was that sometime it does smell and sometime doesn’t! I paid a price of 5 star hotel per night to go through such bad experience in a hotel like this and even after the staff is aware of how it smells, they offered us such room! I spent my $1000 plus Canadian dollars for 2 nights stay with them and this was one of the worst experience in our entire stay in Switzerland!

Location.
Run down room and hotel. Stained carpets on stairways, peeling walls, musty smells. The entire 2nd floor is a clinic so saw sick individuals around hotel (an elderly man, bless his heart, with open leg wounds (he was wearing shorts) was wheeled in to the hotel’s “fine dining” restaurant by a nurse. While I am glad there is a place for ill people to be treated, it takes away from vacationing at a hotel on the banks of Lake Geneva.

nothing to dislike

Staff were very nice and tolerated my beginners French! We never used the hotel to all facilities, but the swimming pool was very good.
It was a great location for the Montreux Jazz festival
We had a suite on the lower ground floor and there was a lingering smell of damp

Lovely views of the lake and mountains from my balcony, large room.
Furnishings were quite worn, limited hours for food and beverage services, no place nearby to grab drinks, snacks, or meals.

Great view, nice and quiet, fabulous pool, nice staff, great view at breakfast, easy to access centre of town
Its a bit dated but has charm - if you like that

The staff were excellent. The breakfasts were adequate and varied. The bed was comfortable and importantly so were the pillows. The aircon was effective and quiet. The room was spacious and the balcony and view were beyond my expectation and wonderful. I am sure this experience justifies the excellent reviews. There is a spacious and well appointed indoor pool and adjacent outside looking on to the lake and there is easy access to swim in the lake. There is also a gym, which I didn’t visit but expect was good.
Whilst the hotel looks tired in a few ways especially the carpets, I recognise it is a huge old hotel and running costs must be enormous.
However, it is a rambling space and shared with a health clinic offering various treatments and therapies. A little odd and unexpected.
My main disappointment and surprise was the lack of facilities in room. Two small dining type chairs to sit on and two balcony chairs. I would say the furnishing was functional.
No kettle of coffee maker to make a hot drink. No facial tissues, body lotion or conditioner. Nice shampoo/body wash all in one product though.
I asked for a jug of hot water one evening and the staff were pleased to offer e one and the next day I was given a kettle for the room, so they do respond to your needs or preferences. I don’t think there is any in room service but there is a laundry service offered.

Beautiful character building.
Yes it’s old, but that’s the whole point. It’s huge inside & just lovely. If you want 5 star clean, stark, no character then this is not for you.
The staff were great. Really friendly, very helpful.
Cleaners are exceptional.
The room was on the 3rd floor but ground floor street level.
It was massive! High ceiling! Loved it.
Made such a change from these shoebox rooms you get elsewhere.
Had good aircon, a massive bathroom & a lovely terrace with table, chairs & a parasol.
Easy access to the lake front & walkway.
Nice quiet area, you can easily walk in to the main centre of Montreux or get the number 204.
Went to a really authentic Italian restaurant called La Fontaine. Highly recommend it.
Bit pricey but it is Montreux and I loved the room.
Would definitely stay again.

We booked a double deluxe room with balcony and oh my word, I did a little happy dance as we opened the door and saw the view from the balcony. Absolutely stunning view of the lake from floor 3. Room was spacious with air conditioning (v welcome in 30 degree heat). Bathroom was modern and clean, the room itself did look a little dated but we knew this from previous reviews and it didn't bother us at all. Would have liked a second pillow but managed with just the one. We used the pool, which is a bit complicated to get to so definitely ask at reception for directions first. The hotel is right on the lake so there's a lovely walk on the doorstep. We visited the Queen museum and realised that we could see Freddie Mercury's penthouse from our balcony as it was only a couple of doors away, so as Queen fans, that was a little exciting! Walk from Montreux station was about 20 minutes, mostly downhill but this obviously means lugging cases uphill when leaving. We opted to get a taxi which cost 14.80 francs (note it would have been 11.80 if we'd paid in cash) but so worth it in 30 degree heat, there is a bus stop outside too. Train network is super easy and efficient. and depending on how far you go, is covered by the Riviera card (ask for this at reception). We didn't eat or get drinks at the hotel so can't comment on that. We visited Lausanne for the day which was only a short train ride away and most of the journey was covered by the Riviera card. Super hotel with friendly and helpful staff, would definitely stay here again.
No kettle in the room (vital for Brits who need their morning brew!). Instructions for the aircon unit would have come in handy as it seemed to have a mind of its own! The hotel kept messaging me through booking.com asking me to complete a pre check in questionnaire but booking.com remove the links so it is impossible to complete. I did message the property a few times to ask them to email the questionnaire directly but didn't receive anything. All was fine on check in anyway.

The view is exceptional
It is a 3 stars at best
- Room very basic, no sound proof system, we could hear TV of our neighbors and when they were talking on their balcony or when they shut the door of their bathroom
- no parking in a very small street
- Lift and Corridor to go beauty clinic and swimming pool are very out dated and dark… do not give a nice, premium feeling of the Beauty clinic…
- Breakfast correct
Net, the hotel in its entirety needs good renovation (wall, carpet, bathrooms, balcony…)

Large room, clean, albeit with some aging facilities in the bathrooms.
Exceptional location, with one exit through the garden directly to the promenade.
Very friendly and helpful staff.
The bathtub had a fixed shower head and just a partial glass screen that did a poor job of keeping the water from splashing everywhere.

The view from the hotel is great. Staff was very friendly and helpfull. Dinner in the restaurant was good! Breakfast was also nice. Cute little breakfastroom.
The hotel is old/ outdated. Floors are uneven with old carpett. Bathrooms are very old.
There's a wellness area available, but that was for me different then I imagined. You have 1 small sauna in the ladiesroom and a small sauna and a hamam in the mensroom. But as a woman you will not visit the hamam... and you can not sit in the sauna with you husband...

Spectacular views and a charming hotel with lots of character. Being able to walk directly out of the hotel onto the lakeside path was fantastic. Staff were delightful and friendly.
The shower head was shocking! That is the only real complaint. Couldn’t get the shower head to stay in position, so had to hold it for the entire shower.
