A very comfortable and enjoyable 1 night family stay!

We visited as a family of 5… we had 2 rooms. The rooms were comfortable, there was a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The amenities were good and option of being able to Cook if had wanted too. There was a games room to keep children entertained and soft Christmas music in communal areas making it feel very homely.

I would recommend this venue for staying when in Montreux.

The B&B Guest House du lac was very close to everything I needed. I really loved the amenities kit in the room and I liked the fact I had the bathroom to myself as I travelled during a quiet time of the year.

I would have liked more options for breakfast and a glass in my room as I tend to have a beer in my room when travelling to chill when I come in for the evening.

We absolutely enjoyed our stay in this lovely place.

The manager and the staff were very helpful and the rooms were clean and comfortable. It’s impressive to have a variety of amenities for use. We also enjoyed the breakfast.

It’s hard to find its access to the bus stop without exact detailed instructions from the property manager.

B&B Guest House du Lac grows on you - nice place for families and amazing breakfast and location!

The breakfast and location were great. The room was also quite a nice size - no view and quite hot but the host kindly supplied us with a fan, and the absence of view likely protected us from the noise of the train that passes very nearby. The shared bathroom was the only thing that was a disappointment - it should be made more clear when booking that the bathroom is shared with guests from another room. The host was also very friendly.

Excellent location and (expensive) parking on site. Few minutes to the lake promenade with facilities for open swimming and to hire a pedalo boat or Kayak. Clean big room in a quaint building with excellent breakfast. Very friendly host - Thomas! Toilets and bathroom shared but could have had one each as only 2 families living on the top floor.

Poorly signposted from the road and easy to miss if not looking for it. Office usually empty but contact details provided.

Great stay for a short summer getaway

The breakfast was excellent with a great variety. They also offer late-afternoon snacks, and a kitchen is available if you wish to cook during your stay. The room and bathrooms were very clean, and they provide ample supplies if you forget anything.

Everything was fine. For those driving, it’s important to note that parking spaces on-site are limited. You’ll need to park either on the street behind the property or in a nearby paid parking lot. As is common in Switzerland, parking fees are separate. This is usual for me, but others might want to be aware.

A little pricey particularly as the bathroom and toilet was shared, and the parking in the small garage pricey too, but necessary as travelling by motorcycle on a long trip. The train ran just outside the window

If you need to go to the toilet, you will need to go out of your room through the corridor to the toilet. The room was unventilated and if you open the window, the insects will come inside your room. It is fine to spend one night for sleeping only. More than that, it is not recommended at all.

Clean B&B close to the lake.

The Guest House was clean and comfortable. The breakfast had a good selection of items to eat. The location is about a 15-20 minute walk from the train station - mostly flat or downhill. From the Guest House, it is very to walk along the lake which has a beautiful walking path with gardens and sculptures.

I chose a room with shared bath which was ok for one night. The room had only a small window to the center air shaft so was a bit like a cave.

We don’t spend that much time there but slippers and dressing gowns were a nice touch (if we’d stayed). The host was friendly and tried to be attentive and accommodating

We were in the studio apartment. The closeness to the railway line for us was not acceptable. Trains were very regular every 30sec or so both passenger high speed, local and commercial. Even with the windows closed the noise was pretty bad. The trains according to the train website run until 01:00 hrs about and start again at about 04:30 hrs leaving little time to get some proper sleep. Ear plugs were offered as part of the stay. There is no mention on the website except a few reviews. We were offered another room which wasn’t en-suite or a studio and was only another few feet away from the railway line. We decided to leave and stay elsewhere. There is no lift and quite a few stone stairs to reception from the ground or down from the road above making it difficult if heavy bags or mobility issues although the host did do this for us. This is the first time in 35 years we’ve never stayed at a venue having booked and paid in advance. The smoking terrace is slightly below the window of the studio although we’d be unlikely to open the window due to the trains.

Convenient b&b for a transit stay

Lovely little b&b in Montreux, fairly close to the railway and ferry stations. Quite cooperative about our dietary restrictions in the breakfast. They also have a convenient little kitchen where you can cook up something for yourself at other times.

Be prepared to take your bags up and down a couple of flights of stairs. There's a train track right behind the guesthouse which can be a bit noisy at times but wasn't that much of a concern either.

Best hotel we have ever stayed at

The owner is very friendly and helpful. There is a large variety of breakfast and facilities, such as an arcade machine, pool table, washing machines, and a whole kitchen! The bathroom is clean as well. We left the hotel and kept our luggage in the hotel upstairs because we went to different cities. However, when we came back, the bags were already at down stairs. This hotel is so good and the price is very reasonable than other hotels. If we had the chance to stay here, we would stay here longer.

Nice concept, troublesome location next to railroad.

Very good breakfast! Location next to the bus stop, and just few meters from the promenade. The kitchen, bathroom and facilities were modern and nicely maintained. Complete set of extras (sewing kit, razor, toothpaste and toothbrush etc.) on arrival - very nice touch!

Room we got was located just in front of the railroad (and I mean it IN FRONT, like 3 meters away!!) You can hear each train passing despite closed windows. The place provides the earplugs though - so noise level can be tamed a little. The room door is not sound insulated either - so you can hear very very well everything that is happening in the common areas and in the corridor - again solvable with earplugs. A little bit outside the center, but that is not an issue - Montreux is not that big anyways.

Hostel style with good facilities and central-ish location

Location - not in the center but close enough. Manager was very friendly and listened to feedback. Washing machine was a bonus. The old building is lovely with a large central stone staircase. Large communal kitchens on each floor that were also clean and tidy.

We weeeent aware it was a shared bathroom which was a bit of a shame - but they were clean and modern. Large room for five of us - but with a tiny window (no view).

A night in Montreux

Handy to town and restaurants. Very clean and comfortable. Thomas was very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was fabulous.

The only reason I would mark down a little was that the trains whizz by frequently but ear plugs are provided and they're not loud. We enjoyed our stay.

Thomas, the manager made the difference from being a reasonable stay to a poor stay.

The manager, Thomas, was a really great person, and very helpful. As we came to see Charlie Chaplin World, the trip to Montreaux was worth it.

They put me in a room that faced the train and i could hear it most of my night and morning so i wasnt able to sleep. I woke up when they were setting up breakfast. The place is beautiful but if you are a light sleeper don’t do it

Thomas and his partner were super friendly & attentive during our stay. We felt very welcomed

Room was super comfortable and bright, equipped with everything you may need during your stay, including a small frigo and lots of toiletries. Breakfast was superb and adapted to all taste!

The main train line goes right by the window, a bit noisy but the bed is comfy and if tired you won't notice it.

Like most of the places we stay in Switzerland, no AC ( which maybe that is just the way it is) but with the windows open you could hear the train pass every 30 min.

Very good

There was a shared bathroom, as advertised, but the kitchen did not say "shared", so we were surprised. It was a 30 min walk along the beautiful lakeside promenade to the Chateau de Chillon and the promenade continues 1.5 hours in the other direction to Vevey. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was plentiful.

It was hot during our visit, and the lack of air conditioning meant it was unbearably hot, even with a fan. Also, the shared bathroom closest to us had a dangerously loose toilet seat that kept falling off.
