Yet some of Liguria’s most beautiful destinations, including Cinque Terre, Sestri Levante, Portofino, Genoa, Pisa, Parma are just a 30-minute to one-hour drive away. The medieval town of Varese Ligure, just a 15-minute drive away, is the heart of the Val di Vara Biodistrict and was recognized by the European Commission in 2004 as one of Europe’s most environmentally friendly rural communities, known for its local meat, milk and cheese.
