Aylward Studio Apartment at Queen Street, Near Gunwharf Quays

Inside great, the building is a little shady but not that bad

Easy to get in spacious

Apartment itself is clean neat and everything you need for a stay, close to the historic dockyard. Contact was made after our first night to make sure that we had everything we needed.

You do need to look past the outside of the building and communal corridors (i am guessing that other people own the actual building) and wait until you get into the unit itself.

The location was excellent. The facilities were clean. In the heatwave there was a fan! The woman we spoke to on the phone on arrival answered immediately & was very helpful once we explained problems.

1.Arriving & getting in was difficult and frustrating. The address "Aylward Studio Apartment at Queen Street" not entirely clear and we had to walk around the buildings there to find it. For reference, it's Dockhouse Apartments, 1 Aylward Street, on the corner of Queen Street. I believe there is more than one studio unit on that site with Booking.com and we weren't given the unit number in the reservation so it took a few minutes on the phone to get that, the confirmation that we were in the right place!, the lockbox code, WiFi code etc. it would have been more efficient if it was written in the booking.com reservation confirmation info. 2. The unit was as described and clean but only one coffee cup for two people, a broken toilet seat, a shower head that had a crack in it so water spraying all over and a VERY hard unyielding mattress! 3. It was definitely too expensive but that weekend In Portsmouth was a festival weekend and the accommodation prices were jacked up everywhere in town and rather a pisstake.
