The Ilchester Arms

Lovely village public house with a homely feel

Very good

There was no wine list so no value for a bottle which I ordered this was very poor

Breakfast fantastic as well as the breakfast staff.

Evening staff behind bar good, however didn't tell us when food stopped being served, so missed dinner.

The breakfast and two evening meals were delicious. The staff were very friendly and the manageress had so much enthusiasm for her role. You could tell how passionate she was about looking after her guests. The building is very characterful but a little run down and needs some investment. We understand that it's under new management so have high hopes for the future of this pub and hotel.

The bedroom was lacking in charm. Although clean and with a comfortable bed, the old vanity unit and other furniture made it feel basic and dated. The water didn't heat up for the shower, the bathroom door didn't shut properly and the wifi was often so poor that the tv was unuseable. The design of the stairwell being next to our room meant that we could hear frequent comings and goings, doors closing heavily etc.
