Gîte Les Fresnes

Mooie plek waar vanuit alles goed bereikbaar is. Een grote tuin en veel ruimte om het huisje. Het was een oud huisje en op zich prima om in te vertoeven.

De bedden zijn geschikt voor mensen van <1.80 m. Met 1,91 kon ik niet in het bed liggen. De opstaande achterrand van het 2 persoonsbed maakte dit onmogelijk. In de aanliggende tuinen hadden mensen honden die de hele dag blaften.

Only one thing to like about the property, its location, which was perfect for a week of immersion into the D Day experience.

We arrived at the property and immediately upon entry we were greeted by a strong damp musky smell, not a massive problem as we have lived in France for more than 6 years and experienced similar on many occasions. Sadly, it was obvious that the property had not been cleaned very well as the first thing we had to do before unpacking the car was to sweep the floors (this only served to confirm our suspicions). NOT THE BEST OF STARTS!? The property is very tired, unloved but functional. If you are looking for a good night’s sleep then look elsewhere as it won’t happen here, everything squeaks and creaks, beds and floorboards alike. The double bed is the worst, to just turn over in the bed without waking up once would have been nice. We stopped using the upstairs shower (not a shower curtain issue as we took precautions to ensure no spillage) after the first day as we found that it leaked (two puddles on the living room floor when we returned from our day out). Everything used in the kitchen (on the side of precaution) was washed before use as we simply didn’t want to take any chances. Nothing was unusable, just simply old and very tired.
