Grand Hôtel "Château de Sully" - Piscine & Spa -Teritoria

Stunning location, sat Nav did send us to another location, but once found, no issues. Food was wonderful, staff could not do enough for you, easy parking, decor is beautiful. Would definitely go back, just to see the grounds in perfect conditions, absolutely decimate by the drought conditions, we have all suffered in UK and Europe.

Being tall, we had a room in the barn area, which was up in the eaves , with a sloping ceiling, advise when staying, if you are over 6ft 3 “ let them no, as rooms in the chateau don’t have this minor issue.

1st impressions count and we were greeted by arguably THE best receptionist ever! Camille spoke perfect English, smiled naturally and was sooooo good at welcoming us that she felt like part of our family, then she personally carried our biggest case up the winding staircase to show us the room, which we loved. “Chateau de Sully” is nestled in a lovely rural location and approached along an impressive gated long driveway (that our room also looked directly across). It “felt” good before we entered!. The bedroom was big and comfy. Breakfast was superb. There’s a pool/gym/Spa complex but sadly we didn’t have time to indulge. We’ll return.

The bathroom was slightly old fashioned and the shower was in the batch and there was no rubber mat so needed to be v careful; the loo seat was wonky too. There was NO airconditioning. Fortunately we were between hot spells so this was not an issue for us and there was a fan stored in the wardrobe, but a summer booking would be hit and miss. Apparently some rooms do have Aircon so that needs to be explored before booking. We didn’t have time to use the pool/spa but we did wander over to take a look after breakfast. There were no staff there and it didn’t seem particularly well presented….. uninviting loungers/chairs just standing there with no towels and water on the floor, with swimming pool surface looking like the skimmer was overdue; with some simple attention could have a looked a heck of a lot better, inviting, and the major feature of the Chateau that it should/could be. It wasn’t an issue for us as we were driving several hundred miles to be there and could stop off elsewhere but we were a tad disappointed to be told the restaurant was fully booked anyway and no chance of us getting a table.

We booked a superior room with air conditioning and the first night we ended up in an attic room with no A/C and a fan. With record heat in France that week, this made the stay unbearable the first night with very little sleep. No concessions were offered. They did switch us to an air conditioned room the 2nd night and it was very comfortable.
