Although the family were very busy with the annual ceremony they were always smiling, so kind and welcoming. My arrival was coordinated, they asked for the driver's number and rang him for updates. They gently explained the Mother temple, their faith and Balinese ways. It was a privilege to meet four generations. The view of Mt Agung from upstairs is lovely. As a solo female traveller my room was very private, safe and secure.
It is part of visiting Asia to have a fickle supply of water, sometimes cold only, sometimes none at all when the pump needs attention. The annual ceremony created a heavy human crush and it was impossible for the property to be perfectly clean at all times

The lovely hosts picked me up when I arrived in town, gave me a coffee and a snack, took me on a tour of the Besikih Great Temple, and also drove me to the hospital in the middle of the night for treatment. They were tremendously kind and welcoming. My suite was very modern and nice, with a very confortable bed, a body-pillow, and brand new high-quality sheets and blankets. I also liked playing with their friendly puppy.
