Casa della Seta is located on the outskirts of Como's historic city center, at the foot of the hill that leads up to Brunate, in a quiet, well-favored residential location. A few minutes on foot will take you not only to the lake and the picturesque old town, with its many tourist attractions, but also to the historic funicular, which travels to the mountain village of Brunate. The Silk House is located on the third floor of a house that also has other apartments. There is an elevator. In the surrounding neighborhood, there are more residential houses, mostly of a typically local style.

Make sure you ask for a detailed inventory upon check-in and check out. The owner requested full payment of the damage deposit to pay for alleged broken shutters- we had no idea about but a repair was invoiced on the day we left and it was assumed we were responsible for the damage, when we were not. The owner did not engage with us directly with us over this.Owner complained also of 4 broken cheap kitchen glasses and requested payment for these.So, on the whole, the process was not transparent and a highly stressful experience after leaving.

Lovely apartment in quiet location only 10 minutes walk from the centre. Sunny balcony and roof terrace with good views of the lake and old town from the roof. The rooms were spacious and well decorated. Garage car parking provided. We had a lovely stay in beautiful Como. Lots to do!! Highly recommended.

This apartment was perfect for our family of four (children ages 17 and 19). It is situated up the hill from the main tourist area and my children only complained a little about the walk to the bottom of the hill. I personally enjoyed the walk because I felt that it made our stay more authentic. I loved walking to the nearby cafe for brioche and cappuccino in the morning and watching local life unfold in the piazza and shops. Our hosts were excellent communicators and helped us get settled with a welcome gift of snacks and drinks. They also made recommendations for things to see and do as well as responses to our questions about restaurants that we asked later in our stay. As Americans, it is important for other Americans to be aware that this apartment does not have air conditioning . There was only one fan available to us. We were in Como during a heatwave and it was uncomfortable cooling off after returning from a day of site seeing. If you go at a more mild time of year, this obviously is not a problem.

I rent flats in London and this flat to stay in puts mine to shame for just offering basic accommodation. Laura's and Guiseppe's flat is exquisite and ideal for enjoying Como. Was anything missing? No to the last detail, they have everything covered. Everything is tasteful. Our hosts even thought about welcome pack of essentials and were there to greet us and took time to explain where everything was in the flat. Roof terrace - a dream with a beautiful view of the lake. We arrived by train and made the mistake of thinking we could get to the flat by public transport. Don't bother. My advice is be prepared to take a taxi. No 25 at Como taxis is the lynchpin, a fabulous, considerate, fair and hard working gentleman. See my write up on Bar Italia Torno

This 3 bedroom apartment is on the 3rd floor of a building overlooking the city of Como, and there is a wrap around balcony. There is also an elevator as well. The apartment is very up-to-date and spacious. The four of us did not have a car, but the #5 bus makes a stop in front of the building. Included in our stay was access to the rooftop patio area, which is a delight after long days of walking and seeing the sights in and around Como. Our hosts Laura and Giuseppe were most gracious and accommodating, welcoming us with a bottle of wine. Giuseppe even came to the apartment the morning of our departure to help us with our luggage! Our stay at The House of Silk was one of the highlights of our 16 day Italian holiday.

This is a lovely clean apartment which is about a 10 minute walk from the lake. Great views from a large balcony with the added bonus of a shared roof terrace. The property had everything we needed and was very spacious with plenty of room for the 5 of us. The owner met us on arrival and showed us around giving us lots of useful information. Highly recommended, we would stay here again.
