Disappointing and not as advertised.

Kept us out of the rain.

This place was not as advertised. Tried to contact the property and had no response. The room was not clean, run down and very close to the pub that kept their music turned up very late. Windows didn’t fully close, paint and floor peeling everywhere. Unlabelled containers for milk? and soap? Not confident in using any products.

Overpriced budget accommodation with annoying noisy event.

Comfy bed and nice pub food.

Confusion around check in - I arrived and went to check in but had to ring another motel (Wayfarer Motel) who had forgotten to send details about self check in. The bedrooms are very budget and small. No free toiletries provided and no kitchenette. There is a microwave and small fridge placed beside the bed. There was a very noisy music event at the pub with loud music until very late so struggled to sleep. I had to be up early the next day to go sightseeing around cape reinga. It would have been better if they had told me in advance of this event and I would have found alternative accommodation. The lack of sleep ruined my next day travelling. Water had a strong metallic smell to it when showering. There were a few spiders and cobwebs inside room. Very overpriced for small budget accommodation. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone and I wouldn’t stay again for the price I paid.

Great affordable simple stopover on the highway

Very near on Hwy 10 is a great diner with excellent breakfast. This hotel is a very unassuming true "motel" (motor lodge) with simple, clean rooms and a bathroom. If you are just looking for a bed, or a base to explore the surrounding area, a great stopover. The Nui Bistro cafe down the street is excellent and offers great cuisine. Completely unexpected for what otherwise looks like a typical rural pass-through town.

Seems to have plenty of hot water with a reasonable pressure

Everything else it wasn’t particularly clean lights not working doors didn’t shut not enough cutlery or plates and dishes even though it was booked for 4. No vanity or bedside tables, we had to put a chair in the bathroom for some place to put cloths towels toothbrushes while using the bathroom.

Good location, clean, but need to sort out the water situation.

We spent the day at Karikari peninsula, so it was pretty close to it. Self check-in is convenient and straightforward. The unit is relatively clean.

My only issue was that the water had a strong metallic smell. It totally put us off, and for that reason we will not be staying there again!

parking, Friday night unit 2 decided it was their right to park their truck into our parking spot. Then another customer from another unit thought we were rude where we had to park.

The room was nice and it slept five of us.

I didn’t like that we were not given the wifi password or the codes to the laundry or the kitchen? We tried to call someone early in the morning but couldn’t reach anyone. We were out all day during the days but it was very inconvenient. There should have been a note in the room when we arrived with the wifi password and the codes but there wasn’t? It was disappointing our dog could not stay too. He is very clean, he has short hair and is fully trained. He is family and never stays home alone. I would have happily paid extra for a cleaning fee if needed?

The location was perfect due to attending a family event

We were given the wrong room!…due to attending the family event we didn’t back to the to until around 10pm at night, (too late to do anything about it) managed to get in and discovered that instead of having a 2 bedroom unit with 2 single beds and a double, we only had 2 single beds! Which is not what I paid for or booked!

Bad

First of all the location was not good. There was so much noise from the nearby pub even at 12:30am. It would be nice if they mention about the noise disturbance early so we as customers wouldn’t choose. Second, the place wasn’t tidy, there was dust and spider webs around. They didn’t even keep a body wash. Overall, it was not a pleasant stay.

A very quiet place in winter. Maybe crowded in the peak season

It's a quiet motel, but with very small rooms. The location is outstanding, just in a cute town as the start of the ninety-mile beach, you can embark from here to the far north like the Cape Reinga and the big sand dune.
