A beautiful experience of a stay - birds, butterflies and stars in a cottage hut in the garden

Stunning location, the rooms are situated in a well kept but wild-feeling garden full of birds and butterflies. The rooms had a lovely homely cottage design, a good size and great facilities. Fully decked out and modern feeling common area with all cooking facilities you’d need. Hosts were lovely, very quick to welcome us and give us pointers on where to get food locally and see the sunset.

The onsite cafe was stocked with homemade goodies & great coffee.

The Hosts obviously love what they are doing & this shines thru in this exceptional property. They have created upmarket country style cabins set in a beautiful cottage garden. We appreciated the attention to detail with the quality fittings.

Wisteria Way Gloriousness

The cabins are set in the most beautiful and glorious cottage gardens. The cabins, whilst seemingly small were more than adequate with every mod con that one needed. Beautiful glasses, cushions and throws. The common room (where one can cook) had every single thing that could be required. There is a lovely coffee shop (and adjoining gift shop). Breakfast can be ordered. We were lucky enough to be there on a night with no clouds and the Dark Sky offered the best galaxy vista. One hundred percent recommend this gem.

It was slightly further out of town than I had thought but once there, this was not a problem, in fact it probably accentuated the charm.

A little paradise with a warm and heartfelt welcome.

It was beyond our expectations! The excellent quality of the hospitality, the stunning beauty of the setting, and the comfort of the accommodation, everything contributed to a truly memorable stay. The hosts were genuinely kind, attentive, and welcoming, making us feel immediately at ease. The garden is mesmerizing — beautifully landscaped with a spectacular array of flowering plants. The bungalows are charming and well spaced, providing both privacy and opportunities to meet other travelers, especially thanks to the common kitchen area, which is very convivial. It is also very well equipped and spacious, allowing meals to be enjoyed both indoors and outdoors under the porch. Everything was spotless, well maintained, and although the property is near the road, it is incredibly peaceful. The bathrooms are in a separate bungalow but are very practical and immaculate. There is also a free laundry, with a clothesline set in the enchanting garden. Breakfast was exquisite, and meeting our hosts was an unforgettable experience — their warmth, kindness, and generosity made our stay truly special! That was a magical stay!

Exceptional value for what this place offers.

Wisteria Way is an excellent accommodation offering well-appointed cottages. Bruce and Teresa have thought of all the details to make any stay comfortable and relaxed. The gardens are stunning; the shared lounge with kitchen have everything needed to self-cater; everything is spotless and well maintained. The location is handy for the kauri forest and for the Hokianga region. We did not eat at the cafe, but everything was freshly made and looked tasty. We will spread the word about this gem and hope to return.

An excellent little off the beaten path kind of place, but with all the comforts of home.

Teresa and Bruce have thought about every little detail. The rooms were comfortable and well appointed. The communal area had everything you could need for self catering. The whole place was very clean and well cared for - clearly a real labour of love. Highly recommended.

Gorgeous little retreat

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Wisteria Way. It is a gorgeous retreat with all amenities catered for. There is also a beautiful little craft shop on site where you can get a good coffee and delicious home baked cakes. A cooked breakfast is available on request. Our hosts were friendly and very helpful. The little cabin was very comfortable and there was a very Cosy common room and kitchen with anything you might need. We would definitely book again in the future if we're in the area. Oh, and the cottage garden is absolutely delightful!

This place is a little gem. Very cute cottages, lovely shared bathroom and kitchen. The coffee and scone at the Cafe were amazing. Would recommend to everyone.

The cottage garden setting is sublime

I fell in love with the Lavender Cottage at Wisteria Way. The cottage garden setting is sublime. While there is a communal open area/kitchen that you can access, the Lavender Cottage has it's own kitchenette. The rooms are furnished tastefully, loved the interior design. and the owners are so friendly. The kind you'd expect to own a cottage garden BB and cafe. Bonus location if you're planning to visit the largest Kauri tree in NZ - it's only a 15 minute drive away.

Amazing. Truly memorable!

One of the best places we stayed at in NZ. Amazing value for money, the cottages are absolutely gorgeous in a stunning location. Bruce and Teresa were also wonderful hosts who were very friendly and very knowledgeable about the area. We only wished we could have stayed longer. I would recommend anyone visiting this area to stay at Wisteria Way and to also pop into the cafe/shop for an awesome coffee and delicious cakes.

Absolutely wonderful!

The location is absolutely beautiful and very peaceful. Bruce and Theresa wonderful and gracious hosts. We instantly felt at home and truly wish we had stayed longer. When we again travel to New Zealand Wisteria Way is definitely on our list of places to stay again. And Theresa's baking and coffee are sn added bonus!!

Definitely book this place!

Absolutely gorgeous property, gardens and cottages. The common room is very well stocked and comfortable. The cafe and gift shop were lovely with the best gluten free brownies we've ever had! (The best brownies - period!). The hosts are wonderful, friendly and go the extra mile to give you the perfect stay. We wish we had booked more nights there!

Idyllic, I wanted to stay on and on. I've been talking to friends about it ever since. What a find!

We brought our own breakfast, the facilities were first class. Sitting in the beautiful kitchen, looking out to the incredible garden, was an unexpected delight. The whole place was so unexpectedly beautiful, and Bruce and Teresa are exceptional hosts.

We have no criticism - everything was such high quality and thought through. If there was one tiny improvement it would be the bed light switches being so high they're hard to reach. It still didn't take from the fabulous experience we had.

The perfect retreat for those exploring the west coast of the Northlands.

Wisteria Way is a peaceful haven in a remote area. The cottages are warm and well appointed. Bruce and Teresa were so helpful and kind. And the kitty who roams the property loves a sweet cuddle!

Be sure you note the bathrooms are a separate building from your cottage, as is the kitchen. It worked great for us and we enjoyed meeting the other guests on the property, but it’s important to clock that ahead of time.

Rest and relaxation wrapped in cute and cozy !!!

I really enjoyed the gardens , the flowers smelled lovely as well as gave it a homey feel . It was just really cozy. Even though we had our own little bathroom and kitchentte the common area is comfortable (also) and it would be a great place for the rest of the whaanau , I'd recommend to everyone if they ask me !! I loved it all , the colours and decor wrapped together and I thought the names of the cottages were a nice touch !!

Not really a dislike really , but that we couldn't park right next to our unit/cottage but its not that far really , just a packing thing for myself.. I always have a few too many little bags ..

Perfect stay in this whimsical place, if you’re looking for peace of mind and a cute spot in the nature this is for you !! Bruce was very welcoming and we didn’t see much of him afterwards. The bathrooms were super clean, and the bed really comfy. Would recommend !!
