Aldwark Mews, Free Parking, Central Location

This was seriously the nicest property I've ever stayed in on Booking.com! The photos don't do it justice. The cleanliness was top tier - there was no dust or grime anywhere. The decor was tasteful and in great condition. The panelling throughout and fireplaces in every room made it feel like a destination worth travelling to. Everything worked and felt well taken care of. The kitchen was very well equipped with the things you actually need, rather than just what had been left behind or not taken by other users. The shower was such a treat, spacious, simple and effective. The bathroom fan and shower weren't noisy so you could use them without waking others. The blinds had both a privacy layer and blackout layer for convenience. The mattresses and pillows were comfortable. The location is excellent- just a few minutes' stroll from the very heart of the city tourist spots and shops, right by a bus stop and alternative parking if needed. Ben, the host, couldn't have done more to ensure we had a good stay. He communicated proactively which made any queries a positive experience. None of us wanted to leave and I'm already working out when I can go back to stay again. A real gem of a find - snap it up when you can!

The only thing I think would've improved my experience, would've been to have had a chair in the master bedroom - somewhere to lay items for the next morning or sit to put on socks. The bed had a wooden surround which I find uncomfortable to perch on. There were various codes to get into the building, which was great security but a tiny hassle to look up each time. The flat is on the first floor and there isn't a lift, which would be a barrier for those with restrictive mobility issues.

Excellent location, walking distance from everything one would want to see in York, with the bonus of secure off street parking. Host was engaging and responsive with information.

More of a personal preference/need, admittedly, but I found the very thin pillows to be quite uncomfortable.

Ben was an amazing host, the decor was to die for. Cleanliness was immaculate. Could not recommend highly enough.
