WiFi was not reaching much further than a reception. Good for device detox, bad if you need to plan further route. Mobile internet was also not working due to location of the hotel.

Our stay at Gasthof Mauthäusl was wonderful.

Great breakfast selection, room was very roomy they had water and wine and it nicely decorated and the location was perfect to where we wanted to go. Loved everything about our sta at Gasthof Mauthäusl - Thomas was very nice helpful!

A really pleasant place to stay, although it's not quite "away from it all".

Good location and outlook from the hotel. It's great to sit on the restaurant terrace if the weather is good.

It is quite near the road, especially if your room is in the smaller block, not the main part of the guesthouse. Rooms are well insulated so it is not a problem at night, but you do hear the traffic if relaxing on your balcony in the daytime. Also no wi-fi in rooms. They give you an ethernet cable but this only seems to work intermittently. Wi-fi in reception and restaurant areas.

Peaceful. Great food.

The view and the overall peaceful vibe of the place were just what we needed. We had a small balcony overlooking the Weißbachschlucht and we spent much time out there. We had a fantastic breakfast every morning featuring local and organic fare. We also ate dinner there on the terrace each evening and were treated to the best of Bavarian food in a wonderful atmosphere. We stayed three nights and departed having hiked, breathed and rested well.

It would have been nice to have a small table on the balcony - something we could use to set our book or our wine glass on. The wifi would only work in the room. Outside on the balcony or patio it was too weak.

Beautiful location and lovely staff

Staff was very generous and accommodating! Food was delicious. Location was incredible.

The mattress was pretty uncomfortable my first night, but when I told the staff the next day, they immediately brought me a new mattress :) The only bus connection comes quite rarely-- better to travel here with a car.

Best place for relaxing and hiking

Location is amazing. The wellness area is just perfect. Food is incredibly good and the whole staff is friendly and polite.

A delightful small hotel with wellness centre in a wonderful location.

The staff were friendly and attentive. The breakfast was very good, and the views and the location were absolutely amazing. The restaurant was good value, and food was good quality. The wellness centre offered good massage at a reasonable cost, and they were able to do this even on a Bank Holiday at short notice - a real bonus.

Wifi was only available in the main reception, so we couldn't access it in our rooms. The restaurant stopped taking orders at 8.30pm, even though we could stay there much later. In the main, though, very little problem.

Relaxing stay in some amazing Bavarian scenery and hospitality :)

Room was a bit dated but it was super clean, comfy and spacious with nice balcony. Breakfast was really nice even though covid19 had made some restrictions. Never tried horse milk before, I've got to admit it was good :) Dinner there was delicious. Sauna department was super cool and relaxing. View from our balcony was breathtaking.

Nothing really not to like, massage was maybe a bit average.

Worst experience ever

Only the nature itself was amazing but nothing good with the hotel.

We have been treated with extremely rude by the hotel receptionist. She forced us to speak German despite we told her that we don‘t know the language (she told that „you are in Germany, you have to speak German“). Mobile phones were not taking signal in the hotel and there was no wifi connection in the hotel, even it was mentioned in booking the hotel with wifi connection. Because of the poor quality of the facility, we decided to shorten our stay. Even we stayed only 1 night, she charged us 2 days price! She told that we should do the cancellation through booking.com, however it was impossible to do it since there was no internet connection and no mobile phone availability…

Secluded Stay in Mountains

Location is exceptional... you have a perfect view over mountains, a very close path for hiking along Weißbach, a field with horses, and a close ride to nice roads in that area. All that said, note that you are in the middle of mountains so really no Internet. I think there is no WiFi provided by hotel, but check this with them please. The food at restaurant is very good, tough might be a little pricy. The staff came to a good standard with COVID measures as we are a little more careful with that. They are very polite, considerate, and caring throughout the stay.

Good location and easy to park. The food at the restaurant was delicious.

The bed was uncomfortable and noisy as it is super old. The breakfast was not the best and specially the coffee was awful. There is no WiFi in the rooms (only in the reception and nobody will stay there because there is no place where you could sit, so basically there is no WiFi). I found it expensive.

Bad luck if you have smoking neighbors - the smell is immediately sucked into the room. You can close the windows, but how can you then enjoy clean mountain air?!

Nice place and location but the absence of proper internet access is disappointing.

Internet access is only available in the reception hall and limited to a small number of people connected at the same time. Had to wait half an hour to get a connection and I was the only guest in the reception area. The temparature was a bit too cool. I would have liked to raise the temparature a bit but I could not find the control to do that.
