The apartment is beautifully and tastefully renovated, very clean, comfortable and in an excellent central location. We also appreciated the thoughtful welcome basket and handwritten note, which was a very nice touch. Overall a very nice experience.

One important point to be aware of is the parking: the apartment does not have private/included parking, despite this being indicated in the listing (at least at the time we had made the booking - the host has agreed to clarify this in the description). Guests arriving by car should therefore expect additional parking costs (up to 100 EUR/week, depending on the car park) and either additional insurance costs for the rental car (ca. 200 EUR) or some concern about potential damage to the vehicle when using public parking. There was also significant construction work directly opposite and next to the apartment, which made the terrace noisy during the day. This is obviously not the host’s fault, and the good window insulation meant that it was not a major issue when staying inside.

The apartment was perfect - spotlessly clean, in an amazing location and the host had thought about all the small details to make it more comfortable for guests. The apartment has been decorated to a very high standard and the roof terrace was lovely to sit out with a glass of wine in the evening.

Nice fresh renovation, excellent location in the old part of Funchal.The ocean and cable car are a 3-minute walk away. Exit to Rua de Santa Maria, with its many restaurants serving delicious seafood. Contrary to forecasts, we were also very lucky with the weather.

The renovation of the building on the opposite side of the street caused some inconvenience.
