About this apartment rental
A new and elegant apartment with terrace, self-contained with two bedrooms in a privileged location in the city of Funchal (“Zona Velha”). Huge terrace with fantastic views of the city and the Sea. Enjoy the modern lifestyle of the old streets of the Old Town within a 2-minute walk. Experience the smells and flavors of Madeira at the Farmers Market ("Mercado dos Lavradores") within 2 minutes, where you can easily find everything from fresh fish, vegetables and fruits to flowers and traditional crafts
DESCRIPTION
The apartment is spacious, airy and located on the 5th floor of a quiet residential building with an elevator.
It has an area of 175 m2, two bedrooms, a living room with a dining table, a kitchen with laundry, two bathrooms with a bathtub, a large balcony with outdoor table and chairs, private parking in the building.
The apartment is well equipped with a fridge, washing machine, stove, oven, microwave, coffee machine, toaster and other utensils, as well as bed linen, towels and basic amenities for your convenience.
It also includes other amenities, such as WI-FI internet and in-room TV with cable channels.
The car is not necessary, but if you hire one, we have private parking for our guests.

The apartment is located in the center of Funchal, 5 minutes walk from Shopping Anadia and 10 minutes from Barreirinha beach. It is a 5-minute walk from the Old Town (historic center), Mercado dos Lavradores, Funchal Cable Car and Funchal Marina, where there are several restaurants, cafés and bars. In the vicinity there are cafes, restaurants, supermarkets, bakeries, grocery stores, fruit shops, wine cellars, shops, museums, pharmacies and clinics.
ABOUT MOBILITY
The apartment has easy pedestrian access to several attraction centers in the city of Funchal.
The area is well served by public transport, with a stop 3 minutes walk. In Funchal the operator is Horários do Funchal, in the East of Madeira is SAM and in the West is Rodoeste. You can plan trips with mobile applications or route simulators available on the Internet.
By car, you have easy access to Funchal's main roads and the expressway.

Smoking is not allowed inside the apartment, but there is an ashtray available on the balcony for smoking outside.

The apartment was in a perfect location. Across from the market and one block from the Old Town. The apartment was exactly as advertised and met all our expectations. It as clean, modern and the kitchen had everything needed including a washing machine! Luis was very attentive to any questions we had. I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone and would go back ourselves.

Luis was there to meet us and show us round the apartment, everything was as described, clean and very well equipped. Lovely decor and views from the balcony. They beds were a little hard but that was our fault as we were used to memory foam mattress. Would definitely recommend and stay here again if we return.

This could be a lovely flat but in need of attention.
Communication - I tried to contact the owner via VRBO before the holiday started and did not get a reply, after a week I ended up contacting him through another rival online rental site (he responded in under 2hrs). Local contacted was also very poor at responding.
No dishwasher (even though advertised as having a dishwasher), no curtain pole in one bedroom - you can see where it’s fallen down. Wires hanging down from ceiling in one bedroom and kitchen. Outdoor canopy doesn’t work - told the local contact but no response.
No outside cushions for lounger so you can use them. Outdoor gazebo coverings no longer there - looks like they’ve been removed. Lovely balcony up the spiral stairs but no seating (although pictures show seats). Several windows don’t lock , so you have to close and lock the shutters to secure the property.
Very central location - noisy (but you’d expect that), but a lot of drunks hanging around and evidence of drugs.
This is our third time to Funchal and definitely the worst location. We’ve rented many flats/houses around the world and this was one of the worst, other than the potential it’s hard to say anything poditive.
