Great for our 1 night stay.
We arrived and were told that we were located across the road from The Machine Inn, upstairs, in a building that was being done up - I guess as a new addition to the actual Machine Inn??
The staff member who took us to the room was very pleasant.
The room itself was lovely. Very clean, tidy and modern. Plenty of storage. A iron and ironing board. Comfortable bed with good quality pillows, duvet and bedding. A small stool for seating in front of the dressing table mirror. An armchair would have been a nice addition for further seating. Good facilities of tea, coffee and milk. Small mini fridge. Good TV with lots of channels. Lovely bathroom with big bath towels & complimentary shower gel/shampoo etc. The radiator was on in the bathroom which was nice for keeping the towels warm. There is an AC unit in the room too.
Although on the high street it was very quiet during the night.
We were unsure what to do with the key on leaving as no drop box in the building or in the Machine Inn itself, but we stopped a member of staff who took our key and told us most guests just leave the key in the room when they leave.
The Machine Inn itself is a nice place for a drink with a good choice of drinks/cocktails available.
Overall a nice stay.

Check out difficult- not open to hand keys in when check out is 11 and the pub not open until 12, we were in the rooms across the road

The room we were given was newly renovated to a high standard, nice bed, nice bathroom (but very small - see below !)
It's not really a hotel at all, it's an upmarket pub, with rooms across the road and down a bit.
It's just that I prefer my room to be in the same building as all the facilities.
The room, despite being of good quality (see above) was tiny, hardly any room around the bed. The bathroom, very nicely decorated, was so small, you have to leave the shower and bathroom and get dry in the bedroom, as there is no room.
The position of the room, up very narrow stairs, in a building separate from the main pub was of concern to me. I'm sure it has a fire certificate etc, but there was only one way up and one way down, so there was a bit of anxiety about what would happen in a fire situation. This could just be a "me-thing" as I was in a hotel a few years ago that burnt down.
Breakfast not available, despite the venue having a busy evening restaurant - local options were good, but nice to just pop down in the morning rather than hike off to a cafe.
