Very smart, stylish, comfortable room, recently refurbished.

A bit disappointed that on the other side of the road - maybe it was quieter that way?

No breakfast served but a couple of excellent cafes within yards of the front door. Evening meals were very nice though. No parking as it's in the centre of town but two municipal car parks within five minutes walk.

It was quiet, spotlessly clean , warm and cosy. And we were upgraded!

Main front door was broken. Didn’t like the thought of random people being able to access the property. A kettle would be a good addition to the room. Although there is a coffee machine. A kettle to make a cup of tea would have been nice. On a last note, 4pm is a very late check in.

Good location. Away from the main building. Recommend eating in the restaurant.

The Tv works on the WiFi. Unfortunately this was down on the two nights that we stayed. Did contact the manager but all we got was it was down to the provider. So couldn’t make use of the WiFi or the tv at all. Also couldn’t work the heating right. Was all or nothing so left the towel rail on in the bathroom which did give warmth to the room.

The room was stunning - beautiful decor and very clean, clearly a lot of thought had gone into the design. The location is excellent - right in the centre of Ashbourne and only a few minutes walk from plenty of car parking.

Good location, the rooms were lovely, modern and a comfy bed. We didn't have much interaction with staff, we just picked up our keys and left for a wedding. Lovely cafe opposite for breakfast.

I have just spent 2 nights in the Machine Inn’s accommodation and have never felt so ripped off and dissatisfied after a hotel stay. We paid £237.60 to stay a Saturday and Sunday night at the end of October – not exactly high season. No facilities, service, heating, kettle or usable shower. We booked 2 nights in a ‘hotel’, when we arrived to check-in,  in we were taken to another building up the road – effectively an HMO with none of the usual facilities you would expect from a hotel. We were aware breakfast wasn’t included; we were not aware it didn’t exist.  We were expecting a restaurant, bar – the usual from a hotel, we got nothing. We were shown through a door (which remained difficult to open and shut throughout our stay) into a very cold lobby area which smelled of old cooking oil, up some stairs to room 1.  It looked ok, someone has spent time making the room look nice, sadly it is all style over substance. There was no info in the room, e.g. local info or wifi password. There was a pod coffee maker but no kettle, so we couldn’t have a cup of tea – we did try heating the water with the coffee maker unsurprisingly it wasn’t drinkable. Great looking pendant lights either side of the bed, not much use, when you turn them on in bed you are blinded by a bare bulb. You can’t the usual channels on the TV, we asked about this, we were told this was because it was a Smart TV. Obviously installed by a not so smart person as I presume the reason you can’t get standard channels is because the TV has no aerial. There was no heating in the room, there was a cumbersome looking air con machine – no idea if we were meant to use that or not, we texted the number we were given at 9.24pm to ask how to turn the heating as the only heat source was from the heated towel rail in the bathroom but no answer, I texted  again at 9.50pm to say we were now so cold we had to go to bed.

The room we were given was newly renovated to a high standard, nice bed, nice bathroom (but very small - see below !)

It's not really a hotel at all, it's an upmarket pub, with rooms across the road and down a bit. It's just that I prefer my room to be in the same building as all the facilities. The room, despite being of good quality (see above) was tiny, hardly any room around the bed. The bathroom, very nicely decorated, was so small, you have to leave the shower and bathroom and get dry in the bedroom, as there is no room. The position of the room, up very narrow stairs, in a building separate from the main pub was of concern to me. I'm sure it has a fire certificate etc, but there was only one way up and one way down, so there was a bit of anxiety about what would happen in a fire situation. This could just be a "me-thing" as I was in a hotel a few years ago that burnt down. Breakfast not available, despite the venue having a busy evening restaurant - local options were good, but nice to just pop down in the morning rather than hike off to a cafe.

Check out process was a little tough as we couldn’t get access back into the reception so we left the card in the room but not a big fuss really. It was amazing regardless

It felt like we were the first to stay in the room, either post refurbishment or it is new accommodation. Room extremely clean and comfortable. Facilities excellent. Staff very friendly. Located directly in the heart of the town. Would recommend and we would use again.

Lovely stay, the room was spot on, really good quality all round

The room was very comfortable and the staff helpful. I called the day before as advised to ask for an early check-in and they were very accommodating.

It was exceptionally hot and while there was a fridge and coffee maker there were no drinks available, a bottle of water minimum would have made the stay exceptional.

Beautifully decorated room with great air con which was fantastic as it was a very very hot day. Lovely powerful shower, everything very very clean and the bed very comfortable. Room was spacious and well equipped. Easy to find, centrally located and easy to check in. Plenty of places nearby for breakfast.

Couldn’t fault the property but the cocktail bar across the road was banging out music so loud we didn’t get to sleep until 1am. After driving up from Surrey we didn’t get a good night’s sleep!

Perfect location right in the centre of town. Room was lovely and staff were super helpful. Was slightly noisy in the later evening but that didn't bother us. Everything is literally on your doorstep

We could not sleep because the bedroom was above the bar and the noise did not stop until after 1am on Sunday morning. The room should not be let put on a Friday or Sarurday night. Too much noise. Ruined our stay

I had high expectations for what was supposed to be a special night yesterday but unfortunately, it was a huge letdown. The experience was wildly overpriced for what was provided. There was absolutely no way to communicate with anyone other than going into the jam packed bar—no contact number, which left us feeling completely abandoned. To make matters worse, we were unable to check out properly—no guidance, no system in place, nothing. For the price we paid, I expected at least basic hospitality standards, but this was a disorganised and stressful experience I would not recommend it to anyone looking for a smooth, enjoyable, or romantic getaway. It is such a shame as I picked this place specifically because it is special to us, we have been to the machine in on one of our very first date nights.

.We had an apartment, room 9. Newly refurbished and very comfortable. Beautifully decorated and very chic. Fantastic facilities and very clean.

Noise levels loud with the club over the road until 1.30/2.00am. And then Sunday morning around 3.00am a massive lorry arrived delivering something?? Did not sleep well either night despite fantastic facilities. Food downstairs ‘okay’ - very limited menu. I am vegan and struggled to eat. I paid full price for my Sunday roast option despite having 4 items of the usual roast omitted. Pricey menu. Wait staff could be more attentive.

Had booked a Superior King room but was put in a small apartment with a smaller bed. This was definitely not an upgrade. The bedroom is over furnished and has a bed frame over it - a modern day 4 poster - which makes it very difficult to move around the room - it’s a small room and has way too much furniture. Nice dressing table but lighting very poor. Whole room was dark. No view. Windows are obscured and reinforced glass. Living room very nice with an unnecessarily large kitchen. Apart from being shown to our room, we didn’t see any staff at all. Our room was not made up after the first night. I believe they forgot anyone was in our room.
