Lovely good value for money, would stay again

Lovely little pub next to the river, dinner and breakfast both lovely, staff great, small rooms but have everything you need

We were up early but if not they had decorators in at 8am with the radio on when people were probably still asleep. Check in desk slow to respond on arrival and departure as they are multitasking

Always a great stay and the evening was nice

If I had to say then my husband wanted the haggis so they did a deal and gave him two off the ‘set menu’ it looked so lame with hardly anything on the plate and we would not have minded if they just said no. He was so hungry. We spent a lot at the bar and do the two rooms we booked but he went to bed real hungry it was such a let down

Comfortable riverside hotel which is an oasis in the town.

Location on the river, restaurant was good and staff were very good.

First night the air con was stuck on 24C and it was uncomfortable to sleep. It was a known fault and we were still put in that room. Staff could not fix it, but they did swap our room the next morning. There was a wedding on the Saturday and it was Valentine’s Day. Resturant was very busy with pre-booked tables, but there were not enough staff, which let it down. Rooms were a bit tired and needed updating/maintaining.

Nice staff, good atmosphere. Plenty of car parking with electric charges.

Room is a bit tight and the bed is far too small. Breakfast was good but unfortunately the dinner was really bad. My husband and I had the 3 course meal and both of us were very disappointed.

A reasonable price for what I could have paid and more than suitable to overall meet expectations

The location was suitable as I was going to a venue with 20 minutes of the hotel. The facilities were able to meet my needs with good parking and all amenities to the expectations.

The room was a bit cold for me and though there was heating available I do not feel it changed the temperature significantly enough for me to feel the impact.

Awful. So disappointed unlike previous stays. And no refund yet

I was booked into the supposed last room for the night on 31/1. On arrival I noticed the room smelled foul and mouldy. I pointed this out and the staff agreed but said as no other Rooms they could not move us for the night. We were given a. Bottle of bathroom spray to mask the odour and had to put up with it. The next morning I complained and was promised a refund but this hasn’t happened. I was told the hotel would be closed on Wednesday for refurbishment. There is a clear leak into the carpet from the shower took photos. We stay here in burton regularly twice a month in the area. Add insult to injury the AI phone robot never puts you through to a person. Where is our promised refund ?

Decent hotel let down by poor breakfast and lack of management it would seem

Great location. Clean and relatively comfortable although room was relatively small as was the bed (double I think)

Continental breakfast was poor. Coffee and hot water for tea was from a flask. Self service buffet was poor. Arrived for breakfast at 9:00am on a Sunday and they had two danish pastries and a croissant left. When I asked if they were replenishing I was told they only had what was on display. A number of guests arrived after us and they presumably had none. Poached egg on toast arrived with half a round of toast and half a round of bread (no butter). I asked for more toast which eventually arrived after the eggs were already cold. Shame because there is a lot to like about the hotel but with no management in attendance in restaurant or reception area found it pointless to raise any concerns.

I stayed on Christmas Eve, the staff was lovely & welcoming, nothing seemed too much trouble for them.

Slight issue would have been the sink drain, slight smell of sewage when hot water was running but nothing too unbearable and didn’t linger once water had stopped running.

The Riverside Hotel was lovely.

Well I was under the impression that when I booked a room for the night breakfast was included. But I had to pay way over the cost to stay in a hotel. It was very misleading. No I would not be using booki.com again.

The fact that for a room I had to pay over the odds, then pay separately for breakfast. I won't be using booking.com again because they didn't make it clear to me that I had to pay separately to stay and eat.

Cosy rustic little gem with friendly staff and lovely food!

I knew nothing of this hotel so was unprepared for this lovely gem of a place. The staff were all very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Really cosy ambience and atmosphere with a fatmhouse/rustic feel to the pub. The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Little Green & Black chocolate bars were a lovely surprise as was the selection of tea & coffee. Beautifully cooked and tasty breakfasts made from fresh quality ongredients got us off to a great start. Definitely plan to return

The location was good. Beer good. Parking excellent.

Gray mark on white duvet. Small double was an understatement. Little room to move around bed and the bathroom very badly laid out, which made sitting on the toilet almost an Olympic sport! Sunday waiting staff inconsistent but polite. Glasses need to be dried after dishwasher all glasses had water stains. When cleaning tables staff used the same cloth without spray on 5 tables, therefore spreading germs around. If the chef is going to add onions on a breakfast dish , please state on menu.

Decor was lovely. Loads of character. Location was fabulous Food was good.

No drawers for clothes. 6 hangers in a open wardrobe that has ironing board and iron on .no room for long clothes. How can you have a room with no space for clothes.? Lack of propper service by staff . Not enough staff and supervisors didn't do their job. Lot's of problems getting serviced in restaurant. Breakfast chaotic with no utensils at the continental counter. Toaster never worked in 4 days but still left out for new guests to figure out. No tea pots available. No bin on 2 occasions so rubbish piled up on counter. Fruit old and not appealing. Staff don't seem to notice or care.

Excellent stopover location - warm and friendly welcome by all staff and good food!

Breakfast was good - could choose cooked or continental which was really helpful. Great choice of options and served very quickly. Staff were so friendly. We also had lunch which was also excellent. Nicely decorated everywhere …. cosy feel and very welcoming. Also a very quiet location which was ideal!

Rooms are rather small with no useable drawers. Would be tight if you had lots of luggage!

It was in a lovely location. The room was nicely decorated and clean. The bed was comfy too.

As a woman the lighting wasn’t suitable in the main room or the bathroom to do my make up. Also my friend and I had to ask for a table to be cleaned for breakfast as all the empty ones still had people’s dirty cups on, juice was empty, not many tea options left and the water wasn’t very hot, one croissant let. It just seemed that the two members of staff that were around weren’t really on top of tidying or replenishing the breakfast products on offer.

The staff were very welcoming, polite and helpful and rectified any queries. We really appreciated the welcome note and chocolates on arrival

Room on the small side and cold on arrival. Door way into the room was quite tight. Leg room at toilet in the ensuite is restricted for taller people. Had to ask staff to sort out heating as there aren't any instructions on how to work heating. Self-service hot water dispensers at breakfast needed replenishing and no teaspoons

Lovely looking hotel, good breakfast

The booking through you was very straightforward, however I was not impressed that my name was not on the booking at the Riverside as a neighbour's name was on it instead. This was inspite of all the other details were correct. It caused confusion at the hotel and anxiety that my booking could not be found straight away.

Quiet & cozy pub hotel

Lovely area with rooms situated off of a quaint country pub. Rooms were basic but well maintained- loved the fresh milk from the bar detail! Reception and bar staff were very friendly and accommodating. Good selection of cooked food for breakfast and dinner. Wish I stayed longer to enjoy the several walks that are around the river that start at the pub.

The standard double room was a bit of a tight squeeze for two adults but still very nice for a quick overnight stay.

Room was very small

Food, lack of advice prior to booking. They charged us £50 to use a soulless function room whereas a part of the restaurant would have sufficed. The food was awful and the continental breakfast was very poor
