Great house with great location.
The twin room where my granddaughters slept(who are young women) the beds are broken and not comfortable the bedroom could do with some extra cleaning as under the beds need attention and the bed slats need repair or actual should invest in new ones.

Fabulous location.
Cleanliness was a big issue! The bathroom needed a deep clean. The toaster in the kitchen didn’t work and there were no instructions on how to use the microwave, which proved difficult to use.
5.0 / 10.0
The property itself is a really quirky Grade II listed building.
Lovely location in Shrewsbury, everything you need within a short walk and parking on the property which is a nice bonus.
Inside the property you'll be greeted with nice old tiled floors, low doors and wonky stairs which we all round charming.
The bottle of wine was a nice touch that my partner enjoyed.
**In the interest of transparency before I list the negatives - We would like to apologise as we forgot to empty the fridge leaving my beers (heart broken) along with sealed packets of bacon and sausages - the cleaner may not even realise this and the next guest will have a nice surprise!!**
Negatives - Whilst the property is lovely and old that is no excuse for cleanliness.......especially with the price we paid for 2 nights over New Years we expected better. We didnt see any point in bothering the owner over New Year as realistically there is nothing they could've done in such a short time, and likewise moving elsewhere wasnt an option with it being New Year.
We haven't stayed anywhere on Booking.Com or like sites which have needed such a deep clean. There were cobwebs everywhere.........especially in almost every light fitting and lots of corners of rooms.
The kitchen floor was in a shocking state. Corners of the kitchen were stinking and we swept the main area ourselves before taking our shoes off.
As seems to have been mentioned on here for over a year.....the shower is extremely poor. Two options - you can have scolding hot or freezing cold. As an adult of 47 years of age i am confident I know how to use a shower........and these were the only two options.
Under the beds in the twin room were extremely dusty and there were old towels under one of the beds too (although they appeared unused)
The toaster in the kitchen didnt work to add to the list. As previously stated one of the lamps in the twin room is clearly just for show as despite having a plug theres no where for it to be plugged in.
Whilst the parking is great.......watch where you stand. The parking area particularly to the right had lots of animal (believe cat) mess. You wouldn't want to get that on your shoes before getting into you car.
All in all if the property were to have a DEEP clean and shower sorted this could be a gem of a property!!

We liked the location.
We like a period property. With a bit of additional care and sprucing up, this place could be truly wonderful.

Parking for 2 cars. Central location. Easy to access via lockbox. Comfortable and clean. Good beds. Plenty of power points. Accessible fuse box. Good central heating on which you could set the temperature. Sufficient crockery and cooking facilities. Detached and distinctive...felt a bit different to many rentals.
Fridge a bit small for 5 or 6 people. Shower was only just about adequate.

The position was great. It is a short walk to the centre of town and the shops. Pubs and cafes were very close. There is secure parking the the front yard as the property is the whole house. There is plenty of room with a large kitchen dining room and loungeroom, three separate bedrooms over three levels. It is also very quiet at night.
The property has loads of character however this also means that some of it is a bit old. The main bathroom is modern and is on the top floor, so lots of steps. Parts of the property felt old and dusty and bedding and some furniture would benefit from an update to bring it to current expectations.

Excellent location and nice roomy property.
Not sure the bedding was clean

Location was fantastic
Dirty, didnt look as if it had been cleaned, dirty floors , cobwebs, dust, dirty grill pan , generally shabby with wallpaper hanging off, holes in walls, shower wouldn't work and was dangerous as either cold or scalding hot, didn't complain as we were attending a family wedding so had to be out by 12 on the sat and only realised on sat morning . I realise the property is old but it really does need some upkeep and upgrade

Location, very near the river and close to pubs, restaurants and shops. The parking was a bonus
This property needs a thorough clean and upgrade. We did not use the oven or grill as we weren't prepared to have to clean this before use and it had been left in a dirty, greasy condition. The frying pan hadn't been cleaned properly either. The extractor over the cooker does not work and seems to be seized up. There were cobwebs everywhere and it all seems very unkempt and neglected, in particular around the windows. The kitchen worktops had not been wiped down for some time as there was evidence of grime in the corners and crumbs behind the toaster. The beds aren't comfortable and I could feel the springs in the mattress. The Saniflow wc can only be used for 'No 1's' and it has an unpleasant smell. The water pressure throughout the property is very poor. There wasn't any washing up liquid or spare toilet rolls, although to be fair these were delivered following a telephone conversation. We found items left under our bed so it would appear that no hoovering or cleaning had been done there prior to our arrival. The condition of the extractor fan in the upstairs bathroom was revolting. All in all a very disappointing experience. Whoever is cleaning this property needs to up their game. There wasn't a welcome or information pack which would have been useful.

The only positive I have about this property is the location
Unclean, absolutely filthy, dirty bedding, SO dusty. Hairs in bed. Shower absolutely awful, bathroom was dirty. The curtains are so think they let so much light in.

Excellent location and very peaceful
Shower was extremely hot and needs attention

Location excellent for the town centre and enough parking for two cars.
Plenty for the family to do locally and good choice of pubs and restaurants for eating out.

Could not ask for a better location, right by the park and town facilities. Interesting period property and has the benefit of parking which is a big bonus for the central location.
Nothing really, there was occasional noise from late nighters going home on the Saturday but that's what you get in town centres everywhere.

Fabulous location and loved the parking which was a real bonus. Sorry to say we found the facilities not great. Beds were not comfortable and shower and bath up in the attic. Pressure in the shower was very bad which was a shame as the house could be a little gem. We were very happy with the parking which was a real bonus.

Fabulous location. Good to get parking in a city. Quirky decor. Great Central location , close to everything but very quiet.
A little decorating is needed but nothing major and it is a beautiful old building.

The location is great and the property itself is good and spacious. More than enough room for the guests.
The property itself was difficult to find. The postcode covers a large area, so we spent considerable time trying to find it. Perhaps the directions on the website could be more specific.
Disappointingly, the shower is awful. It's very weak and the temperature runs either freezing cold or dangerously hot. Also the cold tap in the en suite wasn't working.
If those 2 things could be fixed, I would definitely return.

TV's a little dusty and some remote controls did not work.

St Julians House is a lovely, comfortable, well equipped, spacious house with onsite parking which couldn't have been in a better location. One minute from the town, one minute from the river and about 30 seconds from a great little pub. But, despite being on the doorstep of all this, it was surprisingly quiet inside the house and we all slept very well. The owner, Danielle, was absolutely lovely. We had a fantastic stay over the bank holiday weekend - couldn't fault a thing. Highly recommended.

The location was brilliant and the owner was very welcoming

Great central location by the River Severn with on-site parking for 2 cars. We were spoilt with choice of things to do, where to eat and drink etc.
We were unable to comfortably operate the shower. It would either be a cold dribble of scalding hot. It would stop when the downstairs toilet was refilling. That said, there is a perfectly adequate bath with hand-held shower.

Location is great, good to have two parking spaces.
Nice to have toilets on each of the three floors.
Water pressure is low so don't run a tap or flush a loo when using the shower.
No information pack stating WiFi code etc.
Did message for WiFi code but didn't get a reply.
I would move second sofa into the lounge area to give more seating especially as the house sleeps six.

Perfect location, so central for the shops, restaurants and sites, and such a bonus having parking too. Very spacious and good for a group. Quirky decor. Owner was lovely, let us check out and park late as noone arriving next day
Some of the mattresses not comfortable as can feel the springs, and the oven badly needs a clean.

The location was excellent, in a corner by the river. Easy to walk into the centre of the town to explore Shrewsbury on our first visit there. Very quiet at night and a good views looking out in the morning.
There was a problem with the small television in my room not working. There was no where to plug in the lamp on the left hand side. My husband said the curtains in his room were too light so he was woken up by the sunshine in the morning. Otherwise all fine.

Shower was a bit hit and miss

Code box outside was easy and conversation
Only personal preference of deco, wouldn't say i didn't like it. Just not my cup of tea, pat butcher style throws.
2.0 / 10.0
Good location and parking. Property is a good size but is uncared for which is such a shame as it has great potential.
The property is unloved and not clean. The mattresses were old and uncomfortable and the bedding was aged and shabby with stained pillows and a dead fly in one bed.
We restricted our use to the main bedroom which was the one we felt was the cleanest and would not sleep in any of the other beds. Information was poor with handwritten notes and no information about Wi fi.
There are three floors. There is very small toilet and cloakroom wash basin on the second floor which services the two bedrooms on this level. The toilet is inadequate with restricted use, as it stated "Saniflo- No 1 only. Number 2 Upstairs or downstairs toilet."
Kitchen does not have a dishwasher and we had to wash the cutlery before use. The kitchen was not clean. The Kitchen looks modern but there are no backs in the base cupboards which are open to the wall and not conducive to cleanliness.
Televisions need updating and they are very small.
The main bathroom is on top floor and the shower needs replacing it is filthy and very old.
The house has great potential but it needs cleaning, updating and mattresses and bedding replacing.

Normally you would find an information pack with instructions for heating or what to do with recycling etc. We did not have this on this occasion. Also recommendations for restaurants ,shopping or places of interest nearby.
No Wi-Fi code written anywhere and we had to message the host several times before obtaining the correct one. Nevertheless less this was sorted and we had an enjoyable few days in Shrewsbury.

The location of the house is perfect, close to the river and also shops, bars and cafes. We loved the quirky decor, its a lovely house and having a real fire made for cosy evenings. Lots of space and comfortable bedrooms.
A few issues that could be very easily fixed! Please consider having a brief page of information. We didn’t know when the bins needed putting out and the Wi-Fi password was nowhere to be found. Needed to message Danielle quite a lot during our stay. The Wi-Fi was bad, we didn’t mind but others might. There are only 4 mugs yet the house sleeps 6 people. I had read a previous review stating that there was no corkscrew or kitchen knives so I brought my own but again, fairly basic things that are easy to fix. No dishwasher which would be useful when cooking for 6 people.

Property was in a lovely location and perfectly located
The shower is terrible unfortunately, there water pressure wasn’t great didnt seem like much water was coming out, was also freezing cold or scorching hot at any moment.
The house could have been cleaned better, one bed has some hairs in, there was bits left on the sides where they hadn’t been wiped down properly.
8.0 / 10.0
