It was ok for the price,15 mins from u bahn, reasonably clean, shower etc, hadnt been swept under the bed in awhile, the pillow needs to be changed, the cover was clean but the pillow is really old, i was suprised that on checking out i was instructed to just leave the key in the room, the room couldnt be locked obviously so anyone could go into it and do God knows what after i left, there was alot of industrial sounds, like engine sounds even if you shut the window, now Hamburg is a working port city so.....

Clean and close to alot of pubs/bars. No service other than check in/check out. Alot of weed smell and noise. Would stay here only if traveling solo and on a budget.

Bed was broken, couldn't find tv remote, hair in sink, stuff on toilet, bathroom didn't look clean, water damage above bed.. But I mean hey, for 56.20 and the location, I guess we can't say much else Pillows were comfy.

I spent 4 nights while a tourist in Hamburg. Hotel Altan did the job for me. It's a couple of short blocks from the U-Bahn station and a 20 minute walk to the center. There are lots of restaurants in the neighborhood. The neighborhood was lively but my room was quiet.

The three-person room was disappointing. They have images of three single beds, and that was what I specifically requested, but that wasnt possible when we got there.

This hotel does not look like in the pictures, in real life it’s old and sketchy and it is in a very loud area, you can hear all the yelling and cars when you’re trying to sleep with the window opened because It doesn’t have A/C or a fan during summer time, it does not have a reception like in the pictures and no one who can give info for tourists. Rooms are clean but toilet doesn’t flush very good

- Graffiti all over the front of the hotel - Damp stains on the ceiling - Only 1 curtain which covered half the window - Mould in the bathroom - Very narrow corridors - Offensive stickers in the hallway/stairwell which I removed myself due to children staying in the hotel

Bates Motel meets The Shining in downtown Hamburg. We visited Hamburg for a concert which was unfortunately held the same week as an international aviation convention. This unfortunately raised hotel prizes in the whole Hamburg-area immensely. So I have no idea what a hotel like this would normally cost, but it was heavily overprized at our stay. On the good side we payed the same as a normal 4starr hotel would cost per night (breakfast excluded) for an authentic "Bates Motel feeling" in a nice area of Hamburg (karo-viertel): The reception was absolutely closed upon our afternoon arrival at 2.30 pm (Lobby was under permanent renovation and the hotel door was so overpainted with graffiti we didn't even realise it was the entrance to the hotel. No doorbell/doorphone either). When the receptionist arrived some minutes later he was quite friendly and smelled of some kind of heavy oriental musky cologne (no, I'm not impressed). He hardly spoke any german or english and it took him around 20 minutes to figure out how to remove other peoples pubic hairs, dust and snotstains in our 1 m2 bathroom. He did take pictures of it and he did end up using one of our towels for the "cleaning". And our room ended up smelling for hours from that stinky cologne. Did we get an extra towel? No. Was our room cleaned daily? No. But did someone nonetheless access our room during our stay? Yes. What a mystery! I still have my passport and haven't seen any bedbugs yet...

Tiny, unventilated rooms with temeprature indoors around 28C while outdoors it was 30C+. Our room was in the loft with soped ceilings. There was a connecting door to another room filled with loud Liverpudlians who talked, sang and lisetend to music throughout the night. Impossible to sleep or to sleep well.
