Second time staying here and just as impressed this time round. The lady who owns/checks-in/cleans is very friendly and chatty. A tad dated but large airy room, plenty of pillows, tea/coffee etc and in the centre of Nairn. Left too early to sample breakfast unfortunately. Would definitely stay again.

We’d pre-booked weeks ago, via Hotels.com. On arrival our room was unavailable due to a maintenance issue, so we had no room, with no warning. The “receptionist” said our booking was therefore cancelled. Awful place anyway… the hotel reception was a tiny closet accessed by steep stairs up on the first floor, the entire place looked dire, the public loo we used in the hotel was dreadful - no hand wash or paper towels. The “receptionist” said WE needed to cancel the room on hotels.com ourselves as she couldn’t manage the process. On attempting to do that, the hotels.com website said we had to cancel it direct with the hotel as it was checkin day, so it was too late to do anything on the website. Awful service from Hotels.com, and the hotel itself. The worst booking experience we’ve ever had. I just hope that hotels.com do not attempt to take any money from me for this booking, which was cancelled by the hotel with absolutely no notice. We had to start searching round for an alternate accommodation at 5pm… not impressed!!

Host was very kind and friendly.
Room was clean. Older building so not the most soundproof is you are a light sleeper.
Property close to the beach and little shops and grocery.
We had dinner at a lovely pub beside the property. The “class room” pub was busy as it was Sat.
The pool table may have been operational but we couldn’t find the white ball.
Denise made breakfast to order ie. pouched, fried eggs for our group.
Parking is available on the street or behind the church close to the hotel.

This hotel is okay but you get what you get, the bar was closed, the restaurant was closed the outside fitting in with the town and looked nice.
Only a short walk from everything which was good.
Would I use this hotel again? Not if there was a better option but it would not be the end of the world if I had to use it again.

We had a wonderful stay at this charming, family-owned hotel. The location is excellent—just a short walk (about 10 minutes) to the beach, with plenty of shops and restaurants right down the road.
The hotel is run by a lovely older couple who made us feel very welcome, they were especially kind to our young daughter.
Breakfast each morning was a highlight—hearty, homemade, and served in a traditional dining room that reminded me of grandma’s house. It added a comforting, nostalgic touch to the whole experience.
If you’re looking for a place with character, warmth, and a great location, this is a perfect choice.

Positives.
Comfortable well equipped large room for 2 night stay.
Convenient for local amenities.
Negatives.
Service was very slow at breakfast with only one lady taking orders, cooking and serving multiple guests.
Advertised as parking on-site, which there isn’t. Only 4 allocated spaces, 2 streets away, that were already taken when we arrived so I had to park on the street, Charging for on street parking starts at 9am. Given the slow service at breakfast I had to stop and go and move my car halfway through my breakfast.

We booked the Junior Suite as there was 2 adults and a child, however on arrival at 8 in the evening we were told the manager had let the room out to a couple staying a couple of nights the previous day.
The only availability was a double room and a Jaybee guest bed. Given the time and lack of availability elsewhere we reluctantly accepted. The bed, pillow, duvet and linen were brought to the room but we were expected to make the bed ourselves.
Room 12 was light and bright but the bathroom was very dated with black mold on the blind. There was also evidence of a water leak in the ceiling where the paper had split.
Breakfast was lovely but make sure you gove it plenty of time. We went down at 9 o'clock and it took 75 minutes from sitting down to receiving a cooked breakfast. The toilets around the dining room are disgusting.
We asked for a reduction on the price given the issues we had and it was rejected; we were told we could've gone elsewhere.

Perfect place when you just need a bed before an early flight at Inverness airport. Had a nice meal in town on the seafront at the Sundowner restaurant - great view over the sea.

My room was cosy and very clean.
The bed was high and the linen was immaculate and very comfortable, a proper princess bed.
Location is walking distance from shops, restaurants and the quaint harbour.
Breakfast was tasty and well presented.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would recommend to others.

Though the front desk was empty for over an hour, once the owner came in we were promptly let into our room and they were incredibly helpful in setting up logistics. Would stay here again!! Very walkable, right in town.

The landlady was very friendly and seemed to do all the jobs in the hotel. We had the King Ensuite Suite and one of the single rooms which were clean and spacious for what we needed. Breakfast was fantastic. We would definitely stay here again.

I was welcomed by the friendly owner Denise on arrival and given the top floor room that was clean and warm with window views over the roof tops of the quaint little town of Nairn.
Denise was friendly and helpful and I was happy to have a heater in my room, coming from ibiza summer, I wasn't ready for the cold of Scotland.
In the area, there are many thrift shops, some good restaurants, especially The Royal Bengal where I ate that night, and The Highland Weigh, just across the road, a lovely conscious cafe where I spend a few hours alongside the fire, drinking tea and eating a tasty healthy soup, made fresh peanut butter and bought organic nuts for my travels.
The Waverley was good value for money, easy to find, easy to access and a hotel I will return to if I go back to Nairn in the future.
Thank you

Thought it was a proper hotel with a reception desk or the like but had to find way in semi darkness to a kitchen, where it felt like an interruption to someone’s dinner.
Many flights of stairs through many doorways and halls. Heater wasn’t worth turning on, as it was only about 30cms high and though thermostatically controlled, kept turning off, yet the room was not warm and it was on the highest setting. A number of lights didn’t work. There was also a horrible smell along the staircases and halls. Not very inviting. Limited parking at back of a church 200 metres away.
Breakfast was the one highlight.

We loved the fact that the Waverly is not a faceless corporate satellite, but hands-on managed by a lovely and incredibly hard-working proprietress named Denise. Clean room, wonderful breakfast.

It took me 20 minutes to find someone to get checked in. I wasn’t even checked in, just given the keys to the last room. At first glance the room was a bit musty and dated but fine enough. Fast forward an hour later- I got in late and was exhausted and starving- then I see a sign that eating isn’t allowed in the rooms. Just not allowed? Meanwhile I get greeted with the biggest spider I’ve ever seen in my life, the accent pillows had huge stains, and not the outside, but the inside of BOTH beds had a ton of HAIR MADE INTO THEM. A hair or two happens, I accept that, people are human and they make the beds. This was disgusting. I slept on top of the covers and got the worst nights sleep.

We arrived about 8.30pm. The lady on reception was on the phone and then trying to check us in. There was a large glass panel above the door that kept the room very light. There were no teaspoons. Only 1 bath towel each. The toilet was blocked in the morning so i had to retrieve a toilet brush from along the corridor. We went to the dining room at 7.30 as advertised for breakfast, half of the things were laid out, i then had to try and find someone to bring extra items. 10 mins later a lady appeared and was amazed that we would want breakfast at 7.30..as it was not ready we had to leave and buy our breakfast elsewhere. Very much overpriced, old building and not greatly managed!
