    We stayed at La Vela Khao Lak July 2026 and from the moment we got there we were made to feel completely at home. After checking in we had a minor technical issue with our room which was immediately dealt with by the staff. Not only was it rectified we were then offered an upgrade. We loved Khao Lak and would definitely visit again because of the beautiful area, the people that live there and how we were looked after at La Vela. I would like to give my heart felt thanks to all the staff at the front desk, especially to Neena, Amp, and Alex. All three of you made our trip just that little bit extra special. Also thanks to Cream in housekeeping (building C) who always made sure we had everything we needed regardless if she was cleaning our room or not. She had even prepared a small bouquet of beautiful Orchids for the table in our room, which in all my years of hotel stays this has never happened. If you're wanting stay at a hotel were you have clean rooms, professional and caring staff, great facilities and on the beach in a wonderful area then La Vela is the place to stay. My only feedback is that breakfast and room service menus could offer more vegetarian options. Thank you La Vela.

    We made such happy memories at La Vela. The staff are so warm and very welcoming beyond expectations. Modern, stylish and architectural impressive buildings and huge pools all over the property. Choose the pool or beach both at your fingertips. The rooms were huge and very spacious with balconies to laze on. The location of this hotel is very central, 1/2 km from the Main Street and 750m to night market. If you stay here you will never need a taxi except to tours or the airport. The breakfast had a huge selection of breads and pastries, the egg station was massive, limited western options and fruits, lots of Thai & kids options but limited for vegetarians. Very good coffees and beverages. Special mention to front office staff and breakfast service staff & cleaners, as they went above and beyond to make guests feel looked after. Will definitely recommend this hotel.

    Efficient and friendly check in. Large room with good air con and an extra dehumidifier. Comfortable bed. Clean sheets and room. Lots of pools and cool coffee shop and bar. Beachside restaurant was good for afternoon drinks and evening meals. Saturday all you can eat lobster and seafood buffet was spectacular and very popular. Only slight downer was breakfast room - inside was dark and far too hot - especially section which served cereals, pastries and toast- it was like a sauna. Sitting outside under the veranda was more comfortable than inside! Breakfast was just ok, lots of variety but seemed a bit cluttered with so many dishes and pots. Clearing of dishes was slow and staff seemed disinterested. No one to show you to a table. Coffee was excellent- barista made! Check out was quick and easy - staff helped with luggage and we were given a late checkout which was very helpful. All in a very nice stay - just need a small improvement around breakfast

    La Vela looks like a 5-star resort on paper, but in reality it feels more like an overcrowded 3-star cruise ship in places. Breakfast was pure chaos, overcrowded, noisy, difficult to find seating, and the food quality was poor and disappointing for a hotel claiming this standard. We tried it for 10 minutes and left, never returned. This is not the vibe you want for a 5 star holiday. They reported 95% occupancy and should have split the crowds over two restaurants or even offered room service for those no wanting to battle with it. We tried to order in room, but they reported no room service until 11am and no other restaurants serving! This is not 5 star, sorry. We were left to walk into town to find a more relaxing breakfast experience. And dinner (again just one single restaurant available), the vibe here was a pool party with thumping music, despite mostly families and middle aged couples; all subjected to a DJ type pool party vibe, you could hear in your room also. For a resort of this size and supposed category, that is simply not good enough. The room design was also poorly thought out, with a dangerous sliding bathroom door positioned awkwardly next to the hot kettle, tea and coffee area — an accident waiting to happen, especially for families with children. Overal design of hotel, contemporary, minimalist resort design with Scandinavian influences just felt soulless and it lacked the warmth, texture, and character you often expect from a luxury Thai resort. There is zero sense of local identity, Thai craftsmanship, tropical charm, or cultural atmosphere. You could wake up there and feel like you were in a hotel in Europe rather than Khao Lak. Missed a trick completely by ignoring everything good about a rich Thai luxury hotel. The beach itself was underwhelming. Building was in need of general tidying up and painting to reach a 5 star level. Staff levels were also weak, with not enough staff, particularly at front for arrival or golf buggy service. Overall, La Vela sells itself as a luxury 5-star experience, but the reality is overcrowded, noisy, poorly managed, and far below expectations. So glad we had only booked just 2 days and so we moved 15 mins north to Devasom - a completely different world to La Vela.
