Rude receptionist on arrival, poor service at dinner, being told we had to order quickly as they had a large group coming in, food was cold. Forgot our drinks and it took 2 hours and 15 minutes for food.

I had a new wet room. The smart tap was difficult to use without getting a wet wrist, no temperature control and no cups in bathroom. Tea cups in the room also way too small

We stayed in an executive suite overlooking the courtyard, the room was spotless and the decor was lovely. We spent the day in the New Leaf Spa and had both booked a massage, the treatment was perfect and very relaxing. Will definitely be looking into booking again soon

Really nice welcome by reception and the Spa staff were lovely too. Pool area was lovely and warm with plenty of seating to relax. We didn’t have an evening meal but the breakfast was scrummy. The only fault was there could have been more continental options but that’s just my opinion. We stayed in an executive suit, plenty of space, very tidy and lovely decor. Room was nice and warm and bed was comfy. Again the only let down was we only had one pillow each with no option for a spare pillow and the floor looked lovely and clean but our socks became dirty very quickly so could maybe do with a mop? Overall really enjoyed our stay and would visit again.

Overall it was 'fine'. Spa element really lets the place down though. Peeling paint, missing tiles, dead insects in steam room, showers missing heads, dripping taps....repair bodges on top of previous repair bodges (old rotting drill holes in shower wall where previous soap tray was, next to the new one if that makes sense). Girl on the gym desk was sick of her life, barely looked up from her phone when I came in. At check-in, girl asked if I wanted to dine, I said no she replied "good 'cause we probably didn't have any space anyway". When I returned from my meal elsewhere, tried for drink at bar, waited over 10 minutes with no staff in sight so gave up and went to bed. Breakfast was OK, nobody there to greet me so just helped myself and left. Overall it's 'fine' for somewhere to sleep and leave, probably a nice hotel 10 years ago...reeks of someone buying it and spending very little on upgrading/ maintaining and essentially just putting sticking plasters over anything that crops up. I'd never come here for leisure/ relaxation with the wife, keep driving another 10 mins for the next place!

The food was excellent. The swimming pool and its facilities were excellent. Service was friendly. Good value for our 3 night stay. Very pleasant rooms, both bedroom and general hotel rooms. Only one point for improvement- the shower in room 29 needs upgrading.

This could be an absolutely beautiful hotel. The location, building and facilities would make it a go to venue. But it’s just neglected. It smells foisty and the rooms lack finish. It’s not dirty, just a bit dingy. Also the phone signal is atrocious and wifi doesn’t work so no good if you need to access for work or an emergency. Fine for a stop over on the way somewhere as we did but I would be really disappointed if I booked this for a break away

The restaurant for dinner was a big let down, lovely staff but poor atmosphere, half disconnected speaker loudly buzzing continuously and the food was OK but not worth the money at all. The initial room we were given was dreadful, stains on the curtains, carpet lifting in the middle of the room and room was very dated. Accompanied with a wasps nest outside the window. I spoke with reception who kindly moved us to a different room, the room was so much nicer than we like like we'd been moved to a different hotel entirely! Our initial impressions were mared by the fact that the bathroom in particular was dirty, the flooring was covered in stains and the skirting boards had a layer of dust and hair on top.

We recently stayed at the Muthu Clumber Hotel and found the experience to be mixed. On a positive note, the check-in process was smooth, with the receptionist being both polite and helpful. The room was clean, and the housekeeping staff were friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was adequate given the volume of guests, and it was evident that the majority of staff work extremely hard to provide a good service. Unfortunately, a few things impacted the overall stay. On arrival, we found and had to remove eight spiders from the room, which was particularly difficult as our child suffers from high anxiety around insects. In addition, the fire alarm sounded at 2:30am due to a false alarm, which understandably disturbed our rest and added to an unsettled night. Most concerning was the conduct of the restaurant manager when attempting to book dinner, she was abrupt, dismissive and discourteous. Such unprofessionalism is particularly disappointing within the hospitality industry, where courteous service is fundamental. We did give benefit of doubt and considered a night cap but was put off by the same member of staff. As a result, we chose to dine elsewhere and enjoyed an excellent experience, which highlighted the contrast. In summary, while many of the staff work very hard and the hotel has positive aspects, the issues experienced put us off returning here.

There was lots of parking available. Check in was easy and the receptionist was very helpful in pointing out where our room could be found and where the spa could be accessed near our room. Having three single beds in one room is a really good idea for three adults to share - I went with my two daughters and none of us wanted to share a double bed so three singles in a room was exactly what we needed. The pool area was nice but some of the chairs were broken and the ceiling could do with painting as it was flaking of. The restaurant was lovely and so was the food. Check out at 11 instead of 10 like most places was a real bonus so we could have a lie in following the wedding we attended.

Property was under renovation but we were not told. The room we had was an old dilapidated room. Housekeeping was poor not replenishing toilet rolls or water during the stay. Towels are tiny and few. Bed is hard as a rock and I couldn’t sleep in it. Actually checked out a day early due to how uncomfortable it was. Dinner was awful and we couldn’t eat one of the meals the main and dessert was left hardly touched. Vile. Breakfast was to a reasonable standard however and the two people looking after breakfast service were the best staff that we encountered. Very upbeat very welcoming and they get my two stars specifically! Everything else was rubbish. Would not issue a refund for the last night despite the above so was out of pocket. Would definitely not recommend

Poor. Scruffy & battered doors, corridors & room. Plastic over the carpeting in a main corridor for no obvious reason. Lift out of order - which happens but it hadn’t been fixed since I last visited in early May. Steam room - a spa treat I’d been looking forward to - was out of order. Went to the bar - no Sauvignon blanc in stock, no Pinot Grigio in stock - had a pretty mediocre wine. Despite the hotel being obviously half empty we were placed in a room by the busy road - loud traffic if we opened the window, uncomfortably hot with it closed. Breakfast was ok but served with a hash brown that was do overcooked it crumbled into little pieces. This was swapped by the lovely waitress but the cook should never have served it up. I spoke to the receptionist about her speaking to the manager about the issues but she said I had to send an email. I said I’d rather discuss in person. Staff were nice, hence the 2 stars. I’d visited in May with friends - it was cheap & cheerful then but so many issues this time I do not recommend. Will be formally complaining in writing.

The hotel has good facilities spa sauna steam room, gym. I was upgraded from my original booking to a suite. I had intended to be a party of two but my wife was not able to attend therefore although it was a very nice gesture to be upgraded unfortunately on this occasion we didn’t gain the full benefit from the suite although it was appreciated. Overall the public spaces are generally in good order. However although the accommodation was comfortable enough the decor and furniture were looking very tired and could do with freshening up. Very helpful staff

All the staff were friendly and professional. The room was a refurbished one and it was lovely and clean. The pool was fabulous and warm, also there was a nice scent to it. I had a refreshing facial with Amanda, who was excellent and gave me some much-needed advice. The hotel is in need of some renovation, however it looks like that's already in progress. It cant all be done at once, it's not a criticism as I saw on some of the reviews. They are doing their best. On the Sunday night, I didnt enjoy my meal much. The salad wasnt very nice and the flatbread was hard. On the Monday night there was a long wait as hotel very busy, and not enough staff on. Those who were, however, were very friendly and professional. The dessert was a hot one, yet the custard not very warm. On the whole, I loved it. It was quiet and peaceful. I spent some time in the garden. The room and bed were comfy. All areas were tastefully and cosily decorated/furnished. I wanted to stay another night, mainly to enjoy more spa time & peace. But unfortunately I wasnt too well so had to go home. I do hope to return another time though. I was by myself yet I felt properly looked after by all the staff, so i didnt feel alone. A big thanks to everyone and I definitely recommend this place.
