Friendly staff, great room and exceptional food.

I have stayed at this hotel several times now, the food is always very good and the staff are always friendly and helpful.
Unfortunately the room I had this time was very close to main road, and as a light sleeper I was disturbed by the heavy traffic.

It was in a prime location for attending a family funeral
The staff were excellent and the food was very good quality.
The time there was relaxing and good.
The traffic noise. as we like the window open at night and the location of the room was on the front of the hotel close to the adjacent roadway .

Bed was horrible. Uncomfortable with dips.

Olde world, decorated tastefully.
No air conditioning, it was an extremely hot day and windows were closed. We opened the windows which made it a little more bearable.

Breakfast was good. Plenty of choice and served with a smile
Shortage of towels in the on site and also no body wash.
The restaurant meal; was a disappointment. Very expensive was told that it would be 25% off but this wasn't the case when the receipt arrived. Didn't realise until I had left the hotel. Four guest's all commented on the disappointment.

We only ate at the hotel one evening, that was enough. The staff were very polite.
The noise, not a good hotel for those with children.

The breakfast was good and included with the room, which I did not realise. The staff are friendly, kind and helpful.
It wasn't easy to sleep on Saturday night because of a wedding. I could hear the music and the DJ clearly until 1 am and then the guests were loud while returning to their rooms from earlier in the evening until about quarter past 1. The noise is mentioned when booking, but I did not think it would be as bad as it was.

Large traditional hotel with well kept grounds. Good size bedroom and bathroom, comfy bed, good coffee and tea making facilities in the room. Lovely hot shower. We were there for a wedding and it made a perfect venue with great indoor and outdoor space.
The bedroom window had a pane of glass missing and needs fixing. The sealant in the shower was mouldy and needs replacing. Drinks were expensive.

Very impressed with everything. Our son is getting married there next year so we went to have a nosey - I was also off to London the following day with my future daughter in law wedding dress shopping! Lovely room and the food was even better 😀
Room didn’t have air conditioning (it was very hot) 🥵

Comfortable stay, hotel is nicely decorated in a classic style that’s a bit shabby chic in some areas. Bedroom was nice enough, but some fixtures like the tap were a bit loose. Food and drink was fantastic, couldn’t fault that.
No air con and a hot night was made worse by the noise of an air con unit outside the window which must been cooling somewhere else! No milk given with my coffee at breakfast so had to go over the big jug for cereals and use that, staff saw but didn’t offer me a small jug for the table. Wasps everywhere, even inside and one of colleagues got stung on the hand while eating.

The food for both evening and breakfast were top notch. Selections/choice were also great.
The shower basin was constantly blocked and overflowing when taking a shower - drains need investigating.

Friendly staff
Appreciate it’s an old hotel but rooms are looking tired and carpets are not great, no need for all the cushions on the bed and pillows are hard.

The breakfast was very good and the service at breakfast was very friendly.
Our room was very spacious and we liked the traditional decor.
There are lots of areas to sit and have a drink and relax.
A few touches in the bedroom - considering how spacious our room was (no. 1) the wardrobe was tiny and could only hold about four items of clothing.
Also a few irritating things in the bathroom - towels could only be hung quite a way from the sink, and there was nowhere to put shower gel etc in inside the brank new shower cubicle.

Breakfast and evening meals were very good. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The hotel was ideally situated for our onward travel to Norfolk. It felt secluded and peaceful, yet was only minutes away from the major roads. We loved our session in the adjacent spa which is one of the nicest I have visited and was the reason for choosing Ye Olde Bell Hotel and Spa for our stopover.
Other guests chatting at outdoor tables outside our room at "bedtime".

We stayed there after getting married at a registrar office. We booked a suite
Although we expected to pay alot more for this type of room we found it was tired looking and needed some tlc
Just the suite to be more modern. Have facilities like a fridge
Decorations were in keeping with the hotel but could have been updated they just looked tired

The Spa and settings are absolutely gorgeous, can’t fault it!
The hotel itself is incredibly dated, I appreciate it’s a period property, but the decor is tired. The rooms are small, and bathrooms are basic and not finished to a high standard, definitely not for the price you pay for the room.
The food is average, we had breakfast and dinner, and it doesn’t represent the price you pay at all.
All that said, the staff were lovely, and couldn’t do enough for you.
Overall I would recommend a visit for the Spa but if within travelling distance, save your money and stay elsewhere with more value for money. I paid £290 for one night, with rooms then going for £150 on the night, which would definitely be more in price bracket I would recommend.

Meal at night was bad breakfast was excellent not to my taste

The staff and food here were absolutely brilliant. And it’s a real shame everything else lets it down. Ever so friendly and welcoming. When I spoke to them regarding the issues with the stay they were very helpful and dealt with it really well.
My room was in much need of refurbishment. From the sink not being fixed properly, the bottom of the shower had no seal so would flood the bathroom. The flush button on the toilet wasn’t in properly. The bathroom hadn’t been painted properly dispute it undergoing a recent “refurbishment”. One of two indows, there was missing so you couldn’t fix it in place. All of the paintwork in the room is tired and shows cracks. All of the spotlights have cracks around them and the carpet had numerous stains on.
There was a wedding at the venue but there was music until gone midnight outside.
Overall the rate for a standard room is embarrassing when the hotel is in the state it is. The corridors smell fusty and not pleasant at all.
I stayed during May when it wasn’t too hot but the room was really warm. There’s no air con or a fan so I had the windows permanently open for both nights I stayed.
