Nice hotel, rokms nice but not in cottages nearest the noisy road

Lovely new refurbished room

Given it’s an upgrade to executive, didn’t have the usual bottles of water , I was told I’d have to buy some . Very noisy . First of all the road was closed for roadworks over night , no fault of the hotel but then when traffic resumed - quite noisy. Also noisy from dustbin collections before 8am , deliveries etc

Great location for what I needed, lovely grounds which I imagine look even better when it’s not winter! The bed was veeeery comfortable, a good bath, and the continental breakfast was nice.

I stayed in the outer building and the walls are SO thin I could hear both sides of my room talking at a normal volume which was annoying but also felt like an invasion of privacy. I could hear them yawn cough and snore - thankfully I had earplugs. The restaurant food I had in the evening was pretty bad - the vegetables were so overcooked hot water shot out when I bit into some brocolli. Maybe it’s better for meat eaters.

Great place to stay!!

Pleasant and friendly staff. Very helpful too. The room was spotless and clean and was cleaned each day. Lovely clean white sheets and towels. Breakfast was lovely and so much choice and Breakfast staff were very pleasant too!

Shame that the walls are paper thin. We had our two young grandsons with us and the people in the rooms either side had their tv's on very loud until around 10pm, which kept the children awake. There wasn't enough little milks for us all to have a cup of tea, let alone having another in the morning. We bought our own milk the following day, but there's no fridge in the room and the milk was sour the next day!

This is the 3rd time we have used this hotel and each time has been very good. Definitely recommend if you need to visit

Good value hotel in a good location with friendly staff.

Large, clean room. Very comfortable bed. Tea-making facilities. Lots of hanging space in the wardrobe. Big, fluffy towels.

The room was a bit cold but then , this was January! However, the next morning, I switched on the portable radiator that they’d put in the room and it heated it up very quickly and efficiently.

In our opinion the hotel could do with a "facelift"

We have stayed here a few times in the past and thought it was a very good hotel, unfortunately this time we both think it looks and feels a little "rundown & tired" could do with with a "facelift", in our opinion. There is nothing specific to report just didn't feel as good as when we stayed in the past!

No mirror for my wife to do her make-up, had to move the small, quite heavy, glass table and a chair from the other side of the room and put it in front of the wardrobe doors, normally, as in most hotels, there is a mirror on the wall above the table. May sound a little issue but we are not getting any younger, lol!

No sound insulation, only stay here if you are a heavy sleeper.

Lots of parking. Freshly decorated. Big room. Nice bathroom.

The noise. There is zero sound insulation. It was actually the worst hotel I have stayed in for hearing from another bedroom or corridor. I slept with the TV on in an attempt to cancel out the noise, however the TV is limited to volume 20 and this wasn’t enough. I don’t think my neighbours were noisy, it’s the walls that are so thin. Never ever had it as bad as this. My room was not in the main part of the building, so maybe ask not to be put there.

It was perfectly located for what we needed. Lovely grounds and buildings.

The room was unbelievably hot! Turning down the thermostat didn’t make a difference nor did the fan. We couldn’t have the windows open as we were ground floor so not a lot of sleep. The breakfast was not worth the extra payment. The continental was good with fruit toast etc, but the hot option was inedible. We were the only people in the restaurant and had to wait 20 minutes for it to arrive. I wouldn’t mind if it was fresh but all of mine was dried where it had clearly been sat under warming lamps.

Stayed at hotel 6 times before now gone downhill

Location fo our plans

Quite a lot booked table for 6.30 restaurant opens 5.30 place empty including staff waited some time show a table but half the room was laid up for breakfast the following morning vice versa the following morning . When we had finished our meal no on their to ask for the bill so left as the had asked for room number. Later when in bed had internal call “we had not paid “ my reply I AM IN BED , was told they couldn’t put it on room my reply good night and by magic it was on when we checked out the following morning .

Disappointing stay.

Parking. Nice Christmas decorations

No heating in bedroom or bathroom. Poor & limited power source for phone etc. Dark dreaey room. Strange cheesecake dessert at dinner & tired breakfast buffet. Staff disinterested or not available except handyman who appeared this morning who was cheerful & helpful.

Great location great room and pleasant staff

The room was lovely and clean and a very good size , the bathroom was also very clean and the shower was good. It was very wet outside and chilly and the room was lovely and warm and the beds were comfortable.

The only thing we didn’t like was the choice of tea bags in the room… Tetley tea has to be the worst tea ever … please change to Yorkshire tea or at least PG

Great value

Great hotel for family. Evening meal in the bar was great, breakfast fantastic. Grounds of the hotel are great for kids to run and play out in. Staff are always helpful.

The fold out bed in the family room is very uncomfortable. It was our third stay on the hotel and despite giving feedback in previous stays about the fold out bed being awful the same one is still in use. The mattress was so thin you could feel the bars of the bedframe through it. This is my only criticism of the hotel.

Good property, if a little tired.

Location is great. Parking available on property. Grounds are well kept. House is nice. We had a twin room and the beds were comfy but single, so weird sleeping in a single. Breakfast was good.

Comfortable room. Well equipped for storage space and hot drinks and biscuits. Ground floor accommodation essential for us. Staff always really lovely and helpful.

The bathroom was 'hazardous' for us - no hand hold in the shower except the one holding the shower head. (We're of an age when we really need a walk in shower.) The location of the TV on the neighbouring room wall got us into trouble . We had to abandon watching - even on a very low volume. The 'extra' hour in bed probably contributed to this as we are early risers.
