Nothing, It was a pleasure to stay and Chris was a very good host.

quiet guest house, unlike your usual large hotels which are noisy and busy!
They have actual key rather than cards to get into rooms!
no breakfast, but there was a lovely cafe in town,

A very pleasant place with a great location, very clean and super comfortable beds. The room and the entire hotel are decorated in an old-fashioned style, which adds a wonderful atmosphere to the visit 🩷🩵🤍
The owner is a very kind man. I think your parents would be proud of you for continuing to run such a wonderful place. If I'm in the area, I'd gladly return.

It was lovely and quiet. Plenty of parking. Town centre very accessible by foot or car. Owner very friendly and helpful. Two comfortable chairs in our room which is rare these days. A good sized cupboard for hanging clothes, storing cases and putting spare pillows.

I didn't enquire about the breakfast but the guest information folder explained that it was available upon request.
The location was great for central Retford
I would have liked a fan in the room but to be fair I didn't ask as I was only there the one night.

Only 9 miles for robinhood raceway. The town centre is walking distance for food. Great value for money. Friendly host

The actual bed was very comfortable and the bathroom, very clean.
The room is also big.
Decent sized TV....but sadly, not a "Smart" one....so no streaming was available...ergo the need for a table and chair so I could watch Netflix and YouTube in comfort!
Parking was exellent as was the actual location...just a few minutes form the town centre.
No table/desk or chair to use a laptop....I had to use the base of the bed & sitting in one of the two armairs.
Yes, it worked...but a small table and chair would be ideal....
As would a fan in the room! It was too uncomfortable for me to relax....I suffer with COPD and the warm & heavy air is uncomfortable....I even thought about moving out into an AirnB...but stuck it out for the last two nights, but it was a struggle.
Unbeknown to me....guests are NOT allowed to use their own Ninja/toaster......fire hazard & not insured.....
That increased the cost of the stay as I had to eat out and, sadly, had to throw away 2 unopened packs of bacon...
Would I go back? Highly unlikely...I had been informed (by friend) to look at the Airnb thing....I did and was surprised at the cost and facilities.

Chris, the chap who runs the place seems very friendly and approachable. The property itself was quiet and comfortable so I didn't really experience any real issues. In a sense the property is also quite quirky and interesting. With the way it's decorated, it's kind of like visiting someones home, but more than this it's also kind of like a time machine. Don't get me wrong, everything is in good condition, its just that the style of some items of furniture come from a time when things were built to last (they are clearly not from this century). With me being an old fart I experienced a trip down memory lane :)
I would stay again. Happily.
As I said, I did not really experience any issues, so the rest of this is more observations.
While friendly and approachable chris can come across as particular. Reading through the welcome pack there are a lot of bad customer behaviours that he will charge you for. Knowing how poop people can be, I have no doubt this has probably come about from people taking the mickey over the years, so it's probably justified. If you are a poopy person, this guest house may not be for you. For everyone else, you should be fine.
Chris does seem to have a thing about wanting people checking in before 8, which might be inconvenient for some. Once you are in though there's zero problems.
For me, this rule could present issues if I want to return. With what I do for a living I usually cannot walk away from a problem till it's resolved, and the site I work at has a bad habbit of generating super big, super random problems.
For me, my work sutuation would make booking here again more than a little risky, which is a shame :(
Note : the WiFi worked on my laptop just fine. However, my phone would not even see it! Knowing my laptop had no issues I would be more inclined to blame my issues on the phone (Galaxy S10 Plus) than the WiFi.
I did ask CoPilot for advice and it pointed out that phones can be particular about, for example, single frequency WiFi (i.e. 5GHz only). The WiFi was WiFi4 (802.11n) so it should have been supported by my phone, although, it's always possible it was one of the 802.11n "compatible" routers that only mostly followed the standards. Modern tech eh, who knows what the problem was...

Didn't have breakfast not a breakfast person, but I do like a fry up now and again for a change.
From what I have seen in side everything is fine. The only thing that disappointment me was the front of the house looking to the road it's a
little drab could do with a coat of paint.

The linens and bathroom were clean.
The host was grumpy because i was 4 minutes past 8pm. I drove as fast as I could. When I arrived her was upset and grumpy and yet he was available to take me. He signed heavily the entire time. I offered to leave and he said, “ well you are here now”.
This is a challenging economy and service should be much better than this. Also, the property is dated with the decor and rugs being about 40 years old. The room was dusty - lamps, behind the bed, and corners.
All I needed was a place to sleep and that was fine. It’s conveniently located, but otherwise I’d avoid based on the grumpy attitude abs tired decoration.

Most things.
There wasn't a breakfast but in truth I'm not sure whether breakfast was included or not.
The room door lock was temperamental, It striggled to unlock and I was uneasy that I could be locked in.

The owner Chris was super helpful and accommodating. I was stuck in Retford and last minute needed a place to stay, I was able to book last minute with no issues. The Guest House is well maintained, comfortable and super friendly! I would recommend.

The guest house is in a quiet location so we had a good night’s sleep.
We had the breakfast that came in the price. We helped ourselves but everything was set out in an orderly manner in a very pleasant dining room.
Plenty of choice of teas, orange juice, some fresh raspberries, lovely fresh bread for the toaster and a selection of conserves.
Everything is clean and tidy and the bed was very comfortable. The furnishings are, I would say, 1990s floral and frilly, and give a very homely feel.
I prefer cereals from a variety pack instead of plastic containers.

The host couldn’t provide breakfast, as our party was too big, but he researched and recommended a local establishment we could go to. This was a very thoughtful and useful service.
Although the weather was warm, winter covers were on some of our beds (we had three rooms).

I needed to stay somewhere that was low cost and central to Retford. I didn't have breakfast. I was greeted well, always nice to have a welcome. The room was adequate, I expected no more. I arrived and in short time went out in Retford, came back late and slept. No drama, all straight forward.
