Awful but with potential if only someone would spend the money to make this hotel better.

The location was perfect for our visit, and the staff were extremely friendly. The bedding was clean and the bed comfortable.

This building has the potential to be beautiful. However, the rooms are very tired, the bathroom was awful. There are holes in the wall and unfinished repairs, holes in the bath, a broken toilet seat and a door that has seen better days. The cleaners should also be advised to clean the skirting boards which were thick with dirt. As for the resident pigeons who are definitely roosting in the attic (not outside in the trees!!) kept us a awake scrabbling about and calling to each other from 4am 🥴. The radiators then turned on at 5am and knocked so loudly we thought someone was at the door, and did a poor job at heating the room. The corridor upstairs smells damp and the carpet on the stairs has seen better days.

Main issue was room was very noisy. Could hear people walking around thier rooms as floor boards creeked so loudly. Pipes were also very loud when other rooms flushed their toilets.

We had a lovely stay, looked after by great people, in adequate accommodation.

The friendly staff were phenomenal. Despite being really busy preparing for over 200 guests for Christmas lunch nothing was too much trouble and they took time to look after us. We had two breakfasts there and an evening meal, and all were really excellent.

The accommodation in the stables was a little 'tired' but warm and comfortable. The exterior of the main building definitely needs some TLC.

The Indian Restaurant onsite was excellent

The family room out in the stable block was very noisy (the people upstairs very noisy!, creaky floorboards, lots of doors slamming, people directly outside our room talking/smoking etc. We woke early and therefore wanted breakfast earlier, but the main house was locked, lights were off and no staff about. So, we had to leave without breakfast sadly (as no flexibility with their timetables)

Great location for walking into Retford

Great location. Nice bar. Great curry restaurant. Lovely helpful staff. Hot water and a proper bath. Nice big room in the main house with settee and chairs. Comfy bed.

Room was cold, very dated building, needed some love and money spending on it. Cheap stay though.

Great staff and food. A good value hotel.

The hotel staff were without exception excellent; warm, friendly and welcoming. We had an evening meal and breakfast at the hotel, both were very good and very good value. The Friday night curry was exceptionally well cooked and tasty. The hotel inside is well presented and looked good with the Christmas decorations going up. Our bedroom was clean, comfortable, but a little tired. The hotel's exterior needs some work. However, we were pleased with our stay there.

Nice place ruined by horrible neighbours

Bed small Bathroom door very dodgy and got stuck in there twice. Room next door came back at 3.30am shouting and swearing and when asked to be quiet then continued until 9am so got very little sleep, along with room upstairs being very loud through the ceiling.

We would not recommend this hotel

Location and parking was good

It was very old and run down. We had to walk through the pub with our luggage to get to our room. There were bugs crawling all over the bed and the whole accommodation area needs a renovation.

Good sized room, facilities could have been better.

Good location, big family room

The bathroom was in poor condition, broken toilet seat, marks where soap dispensers had been taken off the wall. The room door didn’t shut behind you. Had to put key in to pull it shut. The door was ajar when we had checked in and gone to the room. We left the hotel at 9am, there was no front office staff. Front door locked, so just posted key through letterbox.

We were put in the stable building around the back and the floors are the creakiest Ive ever heard, terrible night sleep and it comes from left and right, we were upstairs and if we were below I am sure you would here upstairs too!

Simple hotel, ok for a one night stay if you have elsewhere to go out to in the evening.

The hotel was easy to find and a short walk from the station. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The accepted our later than advertised breakfast time when we asked for it. Breakfast was also great.

Room was extremely hot and we had to leave the window and main door to the room open when we first got there, along with putting a fan that sounded as if it had had better dates on, to cool the room down. The facilities in the room were limited. Toilet didn't flush properly and needed several flushes to clear waste. The sink didn't drain and my partner had to clear out lot of old hair and gunk from the plug to enable it to do so. Breakfast times were taken on check in - but times offered for a Sunday were 08.00-9.30. Very early for a hotel breakfast on a Sunday. As was check out (10.30am!!) Most hotels are either 11am or 12noon.

The restaurant is lovely. Breakfast was delicious and good value for money. The staff are exceptional - very friendly and will do anything to help. Location is good. Good value for money for our stay.

The rooms were very outdated and not the cleanest. The beds were hard with only one pillow each. The room we stayed in was directly under the creakiest floor boards so we didn’t get much sleep.

The bed was really comfortable and the staff were friendly

I picked this because of the onsite bar and restaurant. On arrival at 5:30pm we were told the bar was closing and the restaurant was shut for the evening. Not knowing the area we didn’t know if there were any other places to eat nearby (there weren’t) so we ended up with garage sandwiches and warm wine in the room!

Pleasant for the price and for one night .

The breakfast was really nice but there were no choices and no cereals or toast for afterwards. It was quite pricey for a plate of food bought to the table. It was nice and we did get juice with it and coffee so it was reasonable for £12.99 . When I booked it said breakfast was £7,99 . There wasn’t a choice for the eggs it came with fried . The service was excellent.

As above … I didn’t like having to go around the back of the hotel in the dark to come in the back way after 11pm . It was a bit daunting but my daughter was with me . We struggled with the key and it was quite eerie coming in with no one there . The room was quite dark and could do with a revamp .
